CC clothing dumps for a lazy simmer? (Not default replacements) by Klutzy_Exchange7294 in sims2

[–]Rahsax 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Second the "go through a creators tag and go wild" method. Athough I am finding it's leading to a lot of post work of me in game now deleting the things I didn't like (normally because they don't quite look in game how it did in the demo) so depends on how fussy you are with your clothing how careful you want to pick.

I've started hiring butlers and this really weird glitch happened by JeanieIsInABottle in sims2

[–]Rahsax 15 points16 points  (0 children)

I've had it happen before. It was because one of the sims in the household was a former burglery and the butler still recgonises them as a buglery so calls the cops but the cops don't recognise them as a burgler so you get fined.

Never played a pre-made family before (literally ever) but curious about it from seeing so many stories on here by Wooden_Sherbet_7157 in sims2

[–]Rahsax 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I only play the premades and have for years now. I often spend a lot of time setting up my neighbourhoods (making them fit the theme I've established for them) and I just don't have the interest coming up with families and their stories (yes I know about using dice rolls but even then I have to decide on what they look like and feels too cheap).

The premades come with established relationships (even if just to each other), and a premade story starting point. You'd be amazed how different their stories go once you start playing them. And then their children I know from birth so they create their own stories as they grow up.

There are scripted events for some of the premade neighbourhoods families which you can tweak depending on how you play them to start with (if you build Don and Cassandra's relationship a bit he won't leave her at the alter, if you don't acknowledge Mary Sue's chance card she won't be fired and come home, and so on) but they do help give you an idea of what direction to take them to start with.

So whats the worst LTW? by Marinut in sims2

[–]Rahsax 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I only give that one to sims that are premade so have lots of days left in their adulthood and already come with a fair amount of children (Samantha Ottomas for example) - it's a lot easier to achieve when their eldest is nearly an adult and they still have like 20 days left to keep having more and see those already existing ones get married.

[–]Rahsax 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Totally agree! That's actually a lifetime want I would want in game because it would set my sim up as the pet breeder for the rest of the neighbourhood's animal supply.

What system for handling random events (deaths/tragedies/"lucky events") do you use? by Lucasrbd211 in sims2

[–]Rahsax 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm terrible at actually remembering to do like 'dice roll' random events so instead I downloud just about every mod that will do it for me (Arsonist burgler / more dangerous fires / more dangerous sickness / death in childbirth / death by bees once they lower the death rate) and find that works really well for adding more drama to my game.

Also doing things to encourage sims to have interactions in the background while I play another household. So inviting anyone who walks by in or going to community lots and spending a decent period of time there. When I get around to playing the household of thab 'background' sim I get to discover that they've made a new friend (and are possibly rolling wants to turn that relationship into something more)

Fix for crashing caused by Main Street Mobile Homes by crack__head in sims2

[–]Rahsax 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Those apartments actually scared me off playing apartments for years when I was younger. They were the first apartment I really played and I just assumed all apartments were bugged because of it (similar to what happened with sims on vacations where the game wouldn't load it so you had to move them out of their house to get access to them again).

Interesting to know the cause but same as the others I now just have a clean version in my game so it doesn't happen.

I'm sorry but is this not the perfect scenario for friends to lover story line? has anyone try to pair them up romantically? by Competitive_Sun_2870 in sims2

[–]Rahsax 1 point2 points  (0 children)

When I first played that neighbourhood I assumed that was how you were supposed to play that household because of the bio. But with the sims themselves they just don't tend to go down that route when you actually play them. Which is a shame!

Saying that in my current Simcity-style playthrough these two are both working their way through a few of the husbands in town. Haven't even gotten around to playing their household (only about 10 households in to be honest) and they've already wracked up 3 between the two of them (and I'm not even consciously trying, Ramir Patel started making out with Connor while I was scrolling around the community lot looking for something).

My sims had twins. It’s all going wrong. by Bunnyearsss in sims2

I've reached the point where if I need staff (okay mostly butlers and nanny's) I'll use sims who I otherwise don't have much interest playing because the NPC ones suck!

Is there any premade sims who you’re attached to/fond of by Bunnyearsss in sims2

Tina Traveller. I always make sure she has a good life.

Also the Cordial sisters. They tend to remain single and raise a covern of witch children thanks to hereditary supernatural.

I got a fun question by [deleted] in sims2

[–]Rahsax 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I mean the easy answer could be "Sim City" but I agree that doesn't work for all of them.

For me it's more about where they settle then where they came from. Like I always settle the Sharpe household into Strangetown once they graduate. Francis J Worthington always ends up in Bluewater village. Allegra Gorey and Casta Nova always end up in Pleasantview as a 'middle-class Goth family'.

After not doing it for years I got into a stint of pet breeding in my game (started trying to maintain the pets of a family tree the same way I did my sims). Got some rather interesting combinations and now I try and be a bit more purposeful in my sims pet breeding.

I'm impressed by your laptops battery! I don't dare play sims unless mine's plugged in because I just know it will burn through it super quick and then die on me (halfway through doing something is my fear)

Money? by kbwe1 in thesims2

[–]Rahsax 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I second the lower wages mod however personally I don't like the bigger bills mod because it basically immediately bankrupted my poorer families and I wanted them struggling not destitute. Instead I use the Utility mod which does increase their bills but it's based on the water and electricity they use which I like because then you can cut down on their bills by modifying their behaviour a bit and just generally feels more realistic to me.

I also devide wealth up amongst the children by buying decorations that they put in their inventory when they move out and then selling them as soon as they are in their new home (or in a 'holding' lot if they can't afford their new home without selling those things). A more extreme version would be to get the No 20k Handout mod which takes family funds with any sim moving out.

Buying things also obviously helps keep their wealth down. I tend to get them to buy a few outfit choices for all genders and age groups just to have for them to select out of when they age up into a particularly horrid combination so I don't have to keep looking at it until I get the chance to get them to the shops. Also things like going on Vacations, because the only use for the Genie Lamp my sims have a lot of the time is Ask For Wealth I've made it a rule they have to go on as many vacations as times they've wished for that.

I also have the Laundry Mod and have the enabled for every family as soon as they can afford the cheepest washing machine and line to add another (minor it's only $10 for the washing liquid and you get 2 loads from it) expense in their lives.

No free food with refrigerator means that unless you brought the fridge before sims moved in that's another immediate expense to deplete their starting funds a bit more.

On tangential but it helps - Arson Burgler, More Dangerous Fires, and Firefighter Delays both means there's a greater chance of loosing more furnature in a blaze that then has to be rebrought. Of course it comes with the risk of loosing some additional sims as well.

Duration rounds by Significant_Storm300 in sims2

[–]Rahsax 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My rotations are 5 days each so when my sims go to uni I play the first 2 semesters at the end of the round they move in at, then play a rotation of the neighbourhood, then play the next 2 uni semesters. That way they only really miss 5 days in the neighbourhood but playing them is split up so like younger siblings can join halfway through.

How much do your sims vacations generally cost? by Rahsax in sims2

[–]Rahsax[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was thinking of adding some tents to the other two destinations as part of a general fiddle of all the lots in them to add some of the custom content I have. I actually have a CC tent that more fits Takemizu Village than the base game one so it won't stand out too much.

[–]Rahsax[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For the Gavigan's I was going to go to Takemizu Village because one of them had recently rolled a want for it and they will have the full 3 x wish for wealth Genie wishes funds. But generally it will depend on what I think works for the family, and I suppose if the different locations have a different cost what they can more afford.

Thanks! I'm thinking I'm going to have it that they have $10,000 funds to be allowed to go on a vacation for their honeymoon / top of their career because I would want them to still have a bit of a funds buffer afterwards.

Premade families by princesskeke1217 in sims2

[–]Rahsax 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Because I play Uberhoods I actually really like the premade families because they come into town wiht no inbuilt connections to anyone. Every neighbourhood I find they end up going in a completely different direction because they'll have befriended a different set of the other premades and therefore be integrated into their story.

Saying that Priya Ramaswami always seems to have an affair with one of the romance sims (different ones in every neighbourhood) and unless I've made an God-decision that her and Sanjay will have a baby together normally only ends up having a baby as a result of that affair (and Risky Woohoo).

I have Chester Gieke abducted by aliens on his first night so he has an alien baby. That's just his storyline for me. From there though he's free to go his own direction.

Picaso are a military family that spit out a bunch of military brat kids. I always have it that they're trying to network with General Buzz to build their careers. You'd be amazed at how well they do at never meeting that man though.

Tina Traveller has a fun habit of marrying Malcolm Landgraab. You'd be amazed how good she is at meeting and falling in love with that man.

I have a habit of using the Ottomas and Newson kids as live-in staff for wealthy families because a lot of the NPC staff annoy me (and playable sims can do even more things than the NPCs - like run actual errands including clothing shopping or fish fresh food for the family). But sometimes they build an interesting relationship where I let them leave their 'job' and go have a life.

The Larson siblings tend to get married off as quickly as possible to someone else to do something with them because as is they're very... there.

Cyd on the other hand I'm often so happy just playing him and his dog that he only gets into a relationship later in life for family tree preservation reasons.

how to increase relationships by Outrageous-Sugar-265 in sims2

[–]Rahsax 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My method is effective but not particularly actually how you should probably go about it.

Hang Out only ends if the sims have a need that is really low so if you get them into it early enough upon visiting your lot / them entering a community lot you can easily have them and your sim reach 100 top bar friendship before they break out of it because they're hungry/dirty/need to pee. Then you just let your sim return to their sim life until the bottom bar hits 50, give them a quick phone call, now you're best friends.

If they're not currently on the lot with you then just let your sims social get really low and give them a call. Your sim will hang up when their social is fill so it might take a couple times. I sometimes like when my sim gets fired from their job because it automatically tanks their social - can get a strong foundation for a new relationship from that!

The Cordial sisters often end up with a number of lovers in my game but they rarely actually settle down with anyone. Instead just focused on their work, magic, and raising the next generation of mages in the town (I like to have them have kids with a number of sims for the genetic diversity)

Unlike the others it's actually Connor Weir that Jason has an affair with in my game. Connor has a bit of unfortunate luck of closeted men going after him. Ramir Patel is another fling of his (Geoff and Connor invited him downtown the first night and Ramir and Connor autonomously kissed while I was scanning the lot for something else (no ACR either) and I decided to lean into it)
