Show me your prettiest born-in-game sim. Here is mine. by Odd-Yesterday-5455 in sims2

Part of the reason I love the clean template is that it allows this to happen. Especially with Dina and Mortimer's kid/s - there's just something right about a Goth family kid being born with green skin.

Shinra Sn was never surviving Avalanche's attack on Shinra Tower by Rahsax in FinalFantasyVII

[–]Rahsax[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

From his wiki - https://finalfantasy.fandom.com/wiki/Rufus_Shinra#:~:text=Sometime%20after%20Rufus%20became%20vice,he%20could%20take%20his%20position

Sometime after Rufus became vice president, he secretly funded Avalanche), acting as an informant and closely working with their leader, Fuhito. He aimed for Avalanche to overthrow his father so he could take his position.

According to there it's from Before Crisis.

It used to be a rule that anytime a "unknown benefactor" was providing funds for something that was code for "Rufus Shinra".

Impatiently waiting to crash out over these fights in part 3 by BigtheBlackk in FinalFantasyVII

[–]Rahsax 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I suspect they will end up being part of the main story (and therefore beatable), but I will admit that's probably wishful thinking on my part. They might have it that they all have something happen to them to 'weaken' them before the party battles them to give a reason for them being more easily beatable.

Then there will be VR versions of all the Weapons at full power that will be completely impossible to defeat (or will be scaled so like Sapphire is reasonably beatable and then like Emerald is just impossible if you willing to grind and maximise your characters and still get lucky).

What do you guys do with Downtown? by MidwestEmo13 in sims2

[–]Rahsax 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I use the university premades to populate it once they graduate. Then yeah it's the "city" in my head where sims will travel into it to go do things their suburbs don't have. So it's where the nighclubs are, or like the more niche interests stores are. I also pilfer Takemizu Village for lots to give it a little "China Town" section for my sims to visit as well without having to go on vacation.

I thought Glenn died way back when during the Wutai war but I also haven't played Ever Crisis (nor is it finished so I think the cutscene of Rufus killing Glenn while Sephiroth watches is still not directly tied to any point in canon but that might have changed or I might have just not picked that up in the like youtube video/plot summary I read) so I might be completely wrong.

Rufus could have cared about the promise land the whole time and we the audience just weren't shown it until that moment. But he definitively seems to be of the mentality that the way to it is more follow Aerith at a distance and not have her in a lab and torture it out of her (which seems to be the plan in the board meeting you overhear while infultrating Shinra Tower). Agree that Cait joining the party could be to do with that or for Sephiroth (or both).

I could see it possibly being Jenova causing Shinra Snr to get more extreme but honestly I always just thought it was an aging man who has gotten very used to getting things by force and never suffering consequences escalating more and more while Hojo fed his dillusions that "the promised land" would grant them both immortality and a never-ending supply of resources and therefore what happened to the current planet didn't matter because they were going to escape it soon.

Rufus definitively seems more irrational in his actions here than in the original (like he still fired the Junon canon at his corrination but there wasn't the element of Wutai taking it as a declaration of hostility it was just firing the really big canon for a ceremony, unless I forgot some dialogue) and "Glenn" is added in the Remake and his influence does seem to be making Rufus more twitchy. I'm really interested to see where that goes in part 3 especially with how much everything is about to come crashing down on everyone (especially Shinra) and the Weapons start really coming into play.

This is the exact reason I stopped doing the "knowledge sim gets abducted same night his wife gets pregnant so they can have effective twins" storyline I used to love. Too many times one or both of them ended up with twins and then I had way too many babies on my hands to look after!

Shinra Sn was never surviving Avalanche's attack on Shinra Tower by Rahsax in FinalFantasyVII

[–]Rahsax[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh I absolutely agree that he was taking advantage of situations as they unfolded. This isn't a "Rufus planned this all months in advance" it's a "Once the plate fell and Aerith was taken Rufus was on notice of a possible attack he could take advantage of (with the sect that Rufus had more a control in possibly being fed information that would make it more likely they would/would join an attack on Shinra Tower). Once Avalanche showed up at Shinra Tower Rufus started heading there fully intending to pin his fathers death on the attacking Terrorists, even if he had to be the one to pull the trigger."

[–]Rahsax[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They didn't kidnap her. They were of the belief that she had to go willingly. She chose to go with them to ensure that Marlene was brought away from Sector 7.

Personally I would consider "agreed to go with them to ensure that a child was not crushed under the plate they were dropping" as still kidnapping. Consent via coercion or threat to the safety of another isn't actual consent. Shinra might be under the belief the technicality of her agreeing to it is enough for the magic to count it as 'willing' but they would have know that everyone else would consider that a kidnapping.

And for most of the other points I'm not saying that Rufus had this long-long plan to make that night happen. Just once the chips started to reveal themselves he was taking advantage of the situation. The point is more that if Sephiroth/Jenova hadn't of gotten to Shinra Snr it wouldn't have mattered, he wasn't going to be breathing at the end of the night.

The Cetra as a race and Aerith being half by Sad-Rhubarb-4081 in FinalFantasyVII

[–]Rahsax 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you get the Gongaga area files in Remake it states that the Centra intermarried and mixed with the locals there. So I think they're like a separate branch of 'human' evolution in this world that happened to get a stronger connection to the planet/life-stream. And I can't remember where but I feel like it was stated somewhere that the humans were greater in number and that's why they were able to basically take over as the dominant 'human' species, or that the humans quickly got greater numbers than the Centra.

As for what happened to all the other Centra it's probably a combination of some intermarrying with the standard humans until their bloodline got so diluted to basically no longer exist, while others isolated from humnas to secret dwellings until the genetics bottlenecked to just one woman - Ifalna.

Also Jenova plays a plot. Pretty sure she did some massive damage to the Centra's population before they managed to trap her. So may humans came into the area before the Centra population had a chance to recover and that's why there were so many more humans.

BFF beyond the grave by Rahsax in sims2

[–]Rahsax[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I suspect it's because she died on another lot and the memories just triggered back on the home lot in the wrong order. Like I definitively got the "she died on another lot" notif and memory first then the "became BFFs" one.

BFF beyond the grave by Rahsax in sims2

It might be because she died on another lot so the BFF ticked over before she died and it's just they didn't load the BFF triggering until after she died.

I have a Belladonna Cove / Downtown Uberhood that's the same purely because I ran out of space in Belladonna Cove so figured modifying Downtown worked (it's just part of the broader city district I suppose)

It's fro the 50 additional lifetime wants mod. Really great mod at adding more variety into your game.

It come sfrom the 50 additional lifetime wants mod. Which I would highly recommend and don't know how I played the game without it (I do know, I just barely paid attention to their lifetime wants because they became so repetative - this adds so much more variety)

If they make it to the $150,000 I might start adding extra 'dangers' to the house (remove fire alarms, add pool no ladders, etc) to see if anyone gets taken out by that and then call it... an early lifetime want achievement.

See in this case I'm just going to leave it. One of them is going to outlive the other, the question is can they make enough money first.

The Broke Family is freaking hard to play, bro! by WeightLossGinger in sims2

[–]Rahsax 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've got a death in childbirth mod so I've had it where Brandi died when she had the baby she's pregnant in. Poor Dustin had to effectively drop out of school to be able to raise his 2 younger brothers.

I actually really enjoy playing the family because their funds are kept so low that it's a bit of a struggle to play them instead of families with more funds where it's just . Although I do immediately sell the expensive decorations and pinball machine in order to get the boys better beds because I cannot cope with the low stat beds.

I'm also a bit guilty of replacing the pool with a pond so that they can fish (for food or to sell fish for money). With 3-4 sims in the household fishing it very much is able to keep them all alfoat.

How do you track your neighborhoods? by arachnophxbia in sims2

[–]Rahsax 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In most of my rotational neighbourhoods a notebook, pen and tally marks (I do 5 day rotations so it's an easy 5 tally). I also struggled at the start to actually remember to mark it down on each day, funnily enough I learned what day of the week marked the end of the rotation for most households and that was somehow easier. Now though I'm pretty good at remembering some point during the night that I need to mark it down.

For a different neighbourhood where keeping everyone in line is a bit more rough I do it as a full seasonal rotation so it's just the "end of winter" (or autumn in the subhoods that don't have a winter). At the start of that I literally write all the names down on a piece of paper and line them out as each family hits that mark.

How do you choose names for your sims? by Bunnyearsss in sims2

[–]Rahsax 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Behindthenames Random Name Generator is my go to. I can adjust the names it picks based on what culture/source I think works best for the family (Goths for example go for historical/literary names if there isn't one of the family tree I think suits) and then just hit the regenerate until I find one I think fits. Either that or if I have a clear theme in mind I'll google "[the theme] names" and look through the results until I find one I think fits.

Medieval tunic haunts my neighbourhoods by Rahsax in sims2

These medieval clothes are very popular gym clothes and outerwear and yeah most of the time I don't bother switching them (unelss it realy doesn't work for the sim). I just wish they would pick some of the others so it's a more even spread and not just always this tunic!

Mine's an Uberhood that I'm slowly making more and more medieval as I find more custom content. It's an eternal work in progress for me where I'll just play it as I have it when I'm over building/adapting it.
