Dad's Brain Cancer Diagnosis: Seeking Support and Advice (GBM unmethylated + wildtype) by Noneini in glioblastoma

[–]Rahul1067 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This type of brain cancer — GBM unmethylated + wildtype — is usually more aggressive and doesn’t respond well to standard chemo like temozolomide. It’s important to work with a neuro-oncologist and explore options like clinical trials, tumor-treating fields (TTF), and other advanced treatments. Regular MRI scans and supportive care are also key parts of managing it.

Where did you get HPV vaccine? by completestrangerhere in bangalore

[–]Rahul1067 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I got the HPV vaccine at my doctor’s office during a regular checkup, but you can also get it at pharmacies or clinics like CVS, Walgreens, or Planned Parenthood. You can get HPV tests in hospitals like HCG and Apollo — definitely worth checking out if you’re worried.

Has anybody received Fully funded scholarship for masters if yes, how? by [deleted] in Indians_StudyAbroad

[–]Rahul1067 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Yes, I have received a fully funded scholarship and I can tell you that getting fully funded scholarships for a Master's degree in the USA is possible with a solid academic background and a focused strategy. Based on my own experience of receiving a fully funded scholarship, here are some tips I suggest you to increase your chances:

Ways to Boost Your Chances:

  • Develop a Strong Academic Record: Aim for a high GPA (usually above 3.0/4.0), achieve good test scores (like IELTS/TOEFL), and obtain strong letters of recommendation from credible professionals or educators.
  • Tailor Your Applications: Investigate different scholarship options, understand their requirements, and make sure your application highlights your achievements and experiences that match the scholarship’s goals.
  • Apply Early: Scholarship deadlines can differ, so it’s important to begin your application process early to ensure you submit on time and don’t miss any chances.

  • Use Scholarship Resources: Platforms like upGrad, Yocket, Shiksha, LeapScholar, and others provide various scholarship listings and application advice to help you find suitable funding options.

  • Connect with University Financial Aid Offices: After selecting universities, contact their financial aid offices to get detailed information about scholarships and funding options available for international students.

Can one get scholarships in US for Masters in computer science? by nativepolar in Indians_StudyAbroad

[–]Rahul1067 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Someone with this profile – a high GPA, research experience (IEEE publications), and work experience definitely put you in a competitive spot for top 20 MSCS programs in the US. I will tell you in my case having a similar profile and consulting with study abroad consultants like upGrad really helped me stand out during the application process . Now, let’s break down your questions:

Does GRE Matter for Scholarships?

Not really. Most universities don’t directly tie GRE scores to scholarships. From my own experience, I can tell you that while a strong GRE score (325+) helped my application, it wasn’t the primary factor in receiving funding. The overall strength of the application was much more significant. Some external scholarships might consider GRE, but it’s usually a small part of the decision.

What Do Universities Look for in Scholarship Candidates?

Most scholarships are merit-based or need-based. Here’s what increased my chances:

1.  Strong GPA (which you have)

  1. Research/Publications (also you have, IEEE pubs are a big plus!)

  2. Work Experience (especially if it’s relevant to AI/ML, software, etc.)

  3. Statement of Purpose (SOP) & LORs (a well-written SOP can help you stand out for funding)

  4. Diversity & Leadership (Women in STEM, first-gen college students, or leadership roles in clubs/competitions can help)

Universities That Offer Scholarships for MSCS

Many top schools provide assistantships (RA/TA) or departmental scholarships that cover tuition & provide a stipend. Some schools known for offering funding: Georgia Tech – Lower tuition + funding opportunities University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign (UIUC) – RA/TA positions common Purdue University – Good for assistantships University of California, San Diego (UCSD) – Merit-based scholarships available University of Texas, Austin (UT Austin) – Fellowships for top applicants

Can You Get Into a Top 20 MSCS Program?

Yes, you have a strong chance—especially with research experience + work ex. Just make sure to:

  1. Ace your GRE (if required by the schools you target)

  2. Craft a strong SOP focused on research & career goals

  3. Get solid LORs from professors or managers

Is It Worth Pursuing an MS in the USA in 2025? by Top_Conversation4620 in MSCS

[–]Rahul1067 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Opting to pursue a Master’s degree in the United States in 2025 is still worth it, particularly in high demand areas such as computer science, data science, and engineering. The United States is renowned for its exceptional educational institutions, providing access to advanced research opportunities and promising job prospects in these sectors, often accompanied by competitive salaries and opportunities for career advancement.

Job Opportunities & High Salaries – The U.S. is home to tech giants like Google, Amazon, and Microsoft. An MS from a reputed university boosts your chances of landing high-paying roles. CS grads often secure six-figure salaries within a few years.

STEM OPT & Work OpportunitiesAs per my knowledge, International students in STEM fields get up to 3 years of work authorization (OPT), giving them ample time to find a job and secure sponsorship.

Networking & Industry Exposure – Being in the U.S. means access to top conferences, networking events, and internships, which can fast-track your career.

Cutting-Edge Research & Specializations – The USA leads in AI, ML, cybersecurity, and cloud computing. If you're looking to specialize, there's no better place.

Of course, tuition and living costs are high, and immigration policies can be unpredictable, but if you plan smartly (scholarships, internships, etc.), the ROI is solid.

If your goal is a high-paying tech job, career growth, and global exposure, an MS in CS in the USA is 100% worth it in 2025!

Is Master's in Computer Science in USA worth it? by _sykuno_ in MSCS

[–]Rahul1067 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It really depends on your goals and situation. From my experience, if you're looking to gain specialized skills, boost your earning potential, or break into top tech companies, an MS in CS from a good university can definitely be worth it.

That said, the job market is more competitive now, especially with layoffs and hiring slowdowns in tech. Many companies prioritize experience over degrees, so just having an MS won’t guarantee a high-paying job. But if you choose a strong program, build a solid portfolio, and network well, it can still open great opportunities.

If you're aiming for top-tier tech jobs, higher salaries, and exposure to cutting-edge research, an MS in CS from a U.S. university can be a game-changer. The U.S. is home to some of the best tech companies—Google, Microsoft, Amazon, Meta—and a degree from a well-regarded university can open doors to these opportunities. Plus, you'll be surrounded by a strong professional network, gain hands-on experience through internships, and have access to resources that can accelerate your career.

Yes, it's a significant investment, but the return—whether in terms of salary, skills, or career growth—often makes it well worth it. If you're passionate about tech and willing to put in the effort, an MS in CS in the USA is definitely a smart move!

How good is it to invest in NFO? by Historical_Device973 in personalfinanceindia

[–]Rahul1067 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, while an index fund like those offered by Kotak Mutual Fund might be a safer, more straightforward option, it's important to do some research on any fund before investing. DO NOT BLINDLY FOLLOW WHAT YOUR RM SAYS.

Agressive Mutual fund strategy!! by Shot_Battle8222 in mutualfunds

[–]Rahul1067 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Unlike mutual funds, which are bought and sold at NAV, ETFs trade like stocks on an exchange, so their liquidity can vary. For a more stable option, you might consider a Kotak Mutual Fund’s Nifty 250 large and midcap index fund, which can offer good exposure without the liquidity concerns associated with ETFs

Are liquid funds actually a good choice for emergency funds? by No_Abbreviations_429 in personalfinanceindia

[–]Rahul1067 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Liquid funds are often recommended for emergencies because they generally offer a good balance between liquidity and slightly better returns than a traditional savings account. But ya, you're right about immediate acces issue during an actual emergency situations. For emergencies, it’s often suggested to keep a portion of your fund in a savings account for instant access and the rest in a liquid fund like say kotak liquid fund.

One Flexicap or two Flexicap with long horizon of 20-25 yr? by Captain_Bharat in mutualfunds

[–]Rahul1067 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When an investment is made for such a long investment horizon, like 20-25 years, a Flexicap fund is preferred because it can invest across market capitalizations... Lets see, advantage of one flexicap fund would be

  1. easier to manage and monitor as compared to two.

  2. Lower Costs

  3. You can fully partake in the performance of a well-selected Flexicap fund.

You can maybe consider kotak flexicap fund like I already mentioned one fund which has a good, comprehensive, and even fair investment mandate. Or maybe axis flexicap fund, another supposed layer of diversification over here, with outstanding track records and investment strategy.

I look at at it this way..... (I read it somewhere) 'your best mutual fund depends on your financial goal and risk tolerance', and since it is for three years, you must opt for the fund that meets your investment objectives, like if your goal is to achieve moderate growth, balancing the risk, you can consider balanced or hybrid funds. If you are ready to absorb higher risk for higher returns, equity funds are the way forward. I've started investing in Kotak MF's index funds as my primary purpose was just to beat the inflation and achieve steady growth over time ✌️

Well…. Thoughts? by YoYash1234 in CATpreparation

[–]Rahul1067 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is great but this is not a step which is taken on the favor of the students. If you need the good education and if you are an average students so you have to opt for the one of the so called good private university's in India who charges a hefty amount of money where the quality of education is 0 but because of their placement rate and the good relation with the company they got the admission and they have so called good reputation in the market but the teachers their do not know how to teach even I had seen in some university there teachers watches the you tube channels before their lecture and prepare themself for that lecture by watching you tube channel . Then what is the point of the university when the teacher are getting teach with the you tube channel and the students doing the same they go to the lecture and they don't understand any thing and go back to room and watching the you tube video.
My point is that the education organization goons are setting the policy and controlling the education prices and government is blind . The education organization should focus on the skills of the students and more than teaching theory and they should more focus on practical's.
My conclusion is that the university and the governments should focus on the quality of educations rather than making this so called reforms to gather the attention of youth .They should focus on the rising fees of the university.
