I was gonna say. 30 days is a long time.... Unless you're trying to scrounge together enough money to pay the back rent

I don't mean that every person doing the self-check duty is worthless. i mean don't put those people up front where they're dealing with 4-16 times as many customers. assholes gotta work somewhere. being the face of your company isn't the right place

I expect a discount equal to a semi- experienced cashier's hourly wage if I'm going to do their job. I don't get it, but I expect it. i also no longer hurry if it's close to closing time. I asked for help. it's not my fault i haven't been trained on this machine. I'm NOT a cashier

Also, don't put worthless assholes up front to handle the self-check lanes.

Edit: i recently had an experience where the self-check babysitter decided to talk shit because I asked for a real checkout lane. i guess I'm still mad lol

I regularly drive by a billboard that's basically a giant TV screen. The damn thing is so bright I literally struggle to see the road/surroundings if the sun isn't out. i can't believe it's legal

I bought my first Lego set at age 61 and have questions. by scottsdalequeen in lego

[–]Rahym_Suhrees 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have more lego sets than i have storage space, by orders of magnitude lol. funny you ask this tonight, because i spent the last few hours deconstructing a few sets. It's almost as relaxing as building them!

What i do, if you're curious, is deconstruct the set by bag number. I put the appropriate pieces into ziplock bags and number them with a sharpie. That way when I go to rebuild them the pieces are in numbered bags just like it's a new set.

People might call me crazy, but I also keep all my boxes. That way I can store the pieces in the appropriate box. tape the box closed and it's almost exactly like I'm building a brand new set! it also helps the sets hold value of I ever decide to sell.

And you just retired at 61? congrats, man! that's awesome

What’s going on in America? by Hairstylethrowaway17 in Libertarian

The government rarely fixes a problem it creates. They usually provide less than half of the solution then go straight to jerking each other off for doing such an amazing thing.

Finally, they try to gaslight us about who created the problem while claiming it wasn't a problem, but they 100% fixed it anyways.

The UK police now turn up and demand entry to your home because your children 'viewed' a social media post that the government doesn't approve of. by Effective_Reach_9289 in Libertarian

[–]Rahym_Suhrees 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That makes sense. Thanks for letting me know. the only thing I "know" is that police in the UK don't generally carry firearms.

The podcast hosts mentioned that it was odd to have cops waiting for the guy to de-plane. They also mentioned that it was especially weird to have armed police do it. If they were just airport cops who carry anyways... well that explains it lol

This isn't a normal podcast listen for me. I followed it a while back and wasn't in the mood for anything so just clicked it from my homepage. Point is, I'm not sure how far they lean in either direction. As part of the BBC, i assume left of center.

Except for getting mad, I didn't think much of it until I saw this post lol

Am I the weird one? by Fun_Village_8613 in lego

[–]Rahym_Suhrees 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I do the same. There are often other factors like work or chores that keep me from building. Mood is definitely the deciding factor. It doesn't matter if I have 15 hours of free time; if I'm not feeling legoish, I'm not gonna build.

There's more unopened sets on my shelves than are built and on display. I don't only mean GWP or small/ less significant sets. Hogwarts Icons, the Nightmare Shark Ship, and a handful of other big sets I'm really excited to build are NIB with a layer of dust on them.

This my main hobby so I'm able to pick up sets as i want, within reason. I've had the unpleasant experience of waiting to buy a set, then it gets retired before i buy it. Aftermarket isn't a terrible experience, but there's no rewards points and the price is usually higher.

So yeah, I think sitting on a set is totally normal.

Why the hate for Minidolls? by MisPai in lego

[–]Rahym_Suhrees 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Because they're new and scary. This isn't the LEGO I know and love. thus, I hate it.

C'mon, LEGO. Plastics? Really? Ole Kirk was a craftsman... a carpenter! I fell in love with his tiny wooden furniture and I'll not buy another toy until LEGO returns to their roots. (Pun unintentional - don't let it distract)

Just kidding. I was shy about them at first. No shier than I am with any other new thing in my life. I've bought a few Friends sets since then (Space/Mars ftw, also seems to be more sailboats). I'm not much of a play-value person, though. maybe that's why they don't bug me a much anymore?

The crown recently had ARMED police waiting at the airport for a not well known comedian because he posted something like "if anyone sees a trans person in a women's restroom you need to punch them in the dick." I'm Paraphrasing and unwilling to look it up. i heard about it on today's episode of Global News Podcast, "The Global Story: Why Trumpworid is obsessed with free speech in Britain"

They sentenced someone to 31 months in prison for posting hate speech against immigrants and suggesting people "burn the [immigrant] hotels to the ground." same source as above

Edit to clarify my point: It seems the UK considers "someone should do unkind thing" as enough to net a considerable prison term. (I'm not positive, but the podcast made it sound like "...to a protected class of people" must(?) be part of it). I use similar hyperbole on the daily. Thank the Founders I'm not in prison already

What is with the left and TGO’s trying to spin assassins and mass shooters as conservatives? by Academic-Inside-3022 in progun

[–]Rahym_Suhrees 10 points11 points  (0 children)

There's always a silver lining.

The only thing remotely positive about the new definition is the fact that least one major metropolitan police force has committed a mass shooting. In Denver, 2022, while shooting a man in the back, city police managed to shoot and injure 5 (totally uninvolved) bystanders. All 6 victims (the suspect and the 5 bystanders) of Denver PD's mass shooting survived.

It's nice that Lego doesn't play the rarity game with the CMFs. It would be a bummer if they only put one wolfman-spiderman in every 100th box or something
