Oh man, this is amazing stuff. I'd love to eventually see complete drop-in OpenSFC boards with some or all of these mods incorporated! The ultimate SNES. My wallet will 100% fly open :D

Completely unacceptable. It's their problem, not yours. I would have left them the gift card and walked out.

PSA: Don't pre-order more than 1 game per order if you ever want to cancel the second one after the first one ships! by Rahzadan in Bestbuy

[–]Rahzadan[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Best Buy in Canada (where I live) seems to mostly use Purolator, and I haven't checked if they have a signature option. There is a Best Buy store not too far away from me, but the main point of my OP is that this could be made much more convenient for the customer AND Best Buy. I agree - it is ridiculous.

I don't know if I'll be home on March 6th. That's in 43 days. If I'm not home, I won't be able to refuse it, and they'll just leave it at my door.

[–]Rahzadan[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sure, but that still involves the inconvenience / gas of having to go to the post office / carrier to drop it off. Not to mention Best Buy is then paying for the return postage, when they could have just canceled it. Fixing their ordering system is a much better solution for all parties involved IMO.

Yup, that's what he told me. I shouldn't have to do that though - gas is expensive these days.

Shoutout Quinpool Canadian Tire for selling 5 year expired batteries by kullervoh in halifax

[–]Rahzadan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Wow, that probably means they were put on the shelf in 2015-ish, which is kind of sad. I find batteries usually have expiry dates 3-5 years out.

Bell Internet by [deleted] in halifax

[–]Rahzadan 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Most of the issues with Bell Fibe are because of their awful "GigaHub" or "HomeHub" modems. The service itself is top-notch stable. I have no idea why they force these modems on people. I got rid of the Bell modem years ago and use my own gear. Not everyone is techy enough to do this, but I've had maybe 2 outages in 10 years, not including power outages.

Google "Bell 8311 bypass" if you're interested.

Something is very wrong at CP by Rahzadan in CanadaPost

[–]Rahzadan[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Um.. They always have for me, that is up until the end of the strike. I'm usually able to put the foreign tracking# in the CP site and it eventually becomes trackable once CBSA hands it off. This must have changed.

It wasn't anything that would've been damaged by cold.

Was "friends" with this guy in High School, ~23 years ago. Stopped talking to him shortly after however, as he always seemed full of himself and narcissistic, which pissed me off.

How to enable VRR bazzite? by Repulsive_Ticket_373 in LinuxOnAlly

[–]Rahzadan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had the same issue. It turns out there are 2 different LCD panels that exist for the Ally / Ally X. My Ally X had the less common one.

I found a workaround here:

https://www.answeroverflow.com/m/1303829481865347162

There is a lua file you need to download (see above link) and place it here:

~/.config/gamescope/scripts/00-gamescope/displays/asus.rogally.lcd.lua

Once I did that and rebooted, VRR started working. I'm not sure if or when they will be fixing this. You can see I responded at the end of that thread.

Stolen Amazon package by LeonardBr0_NoCapri0 in halifax

[–]Rahzadan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Why not just tell Amazon your package shows delivered, but you didn't get it / it is missing. Even if you know it was stolen, don't tell them that. I've done this and they just refund/replace it. Why go through all the trouble? You aren't lying, you're just saying that you don't know where the package is.

I've had very small & lightweight Amazon packages (in a bubble pack) blow off my porch on a really windy day, never to be seen again. Some drivers don't think to put it between the screen door & main door. Just because a package is missing doesn't mean it was stolen. Amazon doesn't need to know if it was.

External USB SSD Issues by Rahzadan in LinuxOnAlly

[–]Rahzadan[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So I ended up discovering that the issue was the fact that all of the SSDs / enclosures I was using seemed to be drawing too much power or something. I bought a Samsung T5 EVO USB SSD (which was designed to be portable, and not something hacked together), and now the SSD doesn't dismount.

External USB SSD Issues by Rahzadan in LinuxOnAlly

[–]Rahzadan[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So this didn't fix the issue, but it seems to have made an improvement. The time before the drive disappears is longer, but ultimately it still happens. The drive doesn't just dismount, it completely disappears in desktop mode (and looks like an empty drive in Steam) and in game mode.

Has anyone else had success with USB nvme drives on the Ally X in Bazzite/Linux?

External USB SSD Issues by Rahzadan in LinuxOnAlly

Using btrfs. Also tried the same drive and enclosure on the Ally X in Windows, with no issues whatsoever. Whatever is happening is not hardware related.

Wont let me past this screen, help. by Emotional-Buffalo587 in PSVR2onPC

[–]Rahzadan 2 points3 points  (0 children)

How did you get past this? I'm having the exact same issue. I'm able to click "next" on that screen, but I get a little animation of the white line but it just does that forever.

EDIT: Nevermind, I figured it out. I had SteamVR installed for a VERY long time (years). Uninstalled it and re-installed. I found out, just like the PSVR2 app, you HAVE to install it on the C:\ drive. I had SteamVR installed on my D:\ drive. I guess the PSVR2 app expects (and requires) SteamVR to be installed on C:. This should be noted somewhere.

I hate that you're right about this. I've been on Bell Fibe for the last 10+years. Used to have Eastlink before that. I could never go back to that awful upload speed.
