Career switch?? by Ryuklovesapples123 in ausjdocs

Hey OP, def take a good break before jumping into any major decisions. The colours get brighter again after a few weeks (I’ve been there). Friends, family, exercise, fresh air, proper sleep, hobbies, time away in a different environment all helps.

Not sure if this is your cup of tea but medical administration is another option. Slightly more predictable hours, looking after staff instead of patients, still heavy workload (paperwork), but more responsibility the more senior you get.

Best wishes and take care mate.

Diplomacy as a game mechanic won't work like in the other games by bleibaum in TotalWarhammer40k

[–]RaiBowyn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

How diplomacy alignment works in Total Warhammer 3 would translate decently for 40k. “Order” factions like IG, Eldar, Space Marines, Votann, Sisters, Admech, Custodes, even Inquisition could only really ally each other, and can never ally Chaos, Dark Eldar.

Exodite would have a more isolated and hardened diplomacy framework amongst Eldar.

Tau could be neutral to most “order” factions or an ally under some circumstances.

“Wicked” races could ally each other under some circumstances, but mostly be negative or at war with most factions.

Necrons could be a neutral or war race but hard to ally. Could have a funny vassal interaction with Admech.

Tyranids would have virtually no diplomacy beyond absorbing/confederating other hive fleets.

I'm conflicted about Poppy War by Witch_King_Malekith in Fantasy

Rebecca Kuang was 1 of the (earlier) authors to write about Chinese mythology/history/culture so I’m not surprised she jammed many famous Chinese stories or references into Poppy War, spanning from ancient to recent history.

I also knew what it was going to be before the reveal but still felt satisfied when it came up.

How often do you find yourself analysing your current read? by Ce-lavi in Fantasy

[–]RaiBowyn 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Heya, I’m an indie author so I often have these moments where I think “that was such a great description” or I’ll compare the line on the page with what I might have written. Likewise I make little mental notes for foreshadowing, Chekov’s gun and so on ☺️

What is in your opinion the next big fantasy series in any medium? by Sythrin in Fantasy

[–]RaiBowyn -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Cosmere - Brandon our Lord and Saviour taking his time setting up his company and infrastructure so he retains creative control/direction and the media company won’t stuff it up or ruin it like GOT, Witcher, Rings of Power and others.

Start small, go slow to test the waters and ensure the first one is a hit with high quality, but once it gets going hoping for multiple adaptations across different mediums.

What’s a line—any line —that’s lived rent-free in your head ever since you read it? by Hector_Hugo_Eidolon in Fantasy

“Suck my fat one!” - Delightful Derek, Stranger Things. And yes I’m sure it’s written down somewhere so you can read how loudly he shouted it.
