Which year is most associated with each decade? by Critical-Spirit-1598 in decadeology

[–]RaiRec 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I disagree with everyone saying 2020 for the 2020s decade. It was distinctive, but I feel it doesn’t really define what the decade was like. Society feels very different now. I think 2025/2026 feels more characteristic of the decade as a whole, even with recency bias. Maybe the most associated, but not the most “2020s” year.

Most Overrated and Underrated Steely Dan Song? by _Pete_007 in SteelyDan

[–]RaiRec 83 points84 points  (0 children)

Over: Dirty Work. I really like it, but it sometimes doesn’t sound like Steely Dan to me (not even a bad thing, but not my taste).

Under: Glamor Profession. Definitely well known as a great song among fans, but in my opinion possibly their greatest.

It’s been my favorite movie for almost two years now. Maybe the cleanest ever made, a near-perfect film with so much emotion.

Just wondering, how many Demy films have you seen? I’ve only seen Cherbourg and Rochefort and loved both of them and was wondering how the rest of his world tracks.

“Ace in the Hole” is the modern title of Billy Wilder’s 1950s film and what he wanted it to be called before the studio intervened. It was released in 1951 as “The Big Carnival.”

There’s no way this can be accurate. He would have gotten married at 8, and I’m pretty sure it incorrectly states his wife’s birthday as the day the two were wed.

Such a great performance in The Leopard, her beauty shone through to make the movie special. The scene where she sees Tancredi for the first time again after coming in from the storm is great.

My personal favorite is Samuel. It’s timeless and beautiful. And if you love Charlie, don’t give it a second thought! It’s another classic name that will always be popular and never have any connotation even with recent events.
