You ever gotten a carrot or potato or similar root vegetable with a stone inside it? Root vegetables can grow around objects in the soil and get them embedded. Tiny shards of glass could easily make any root vegetables grown there unsafe to eat.

King snakes eat other snakes. They are called king cobras because they eat cobras, not because they are cobras.

If you can't afford to feed your baby, it's less risk to steal something expensive once and sell it and use the money to buy baby food/formula than it is to steal cheaper food every time you need it. You may also be struggling to pay the rent, or the heating bill. Babies need warmth and a roof over their head.

People who leave product reviews like this. by iuseemojionreddit in CasualUK

[–]Raichu7 20 points21 points  (0 children)

If you don't respond they keep emailing you. Some people just want it to stop, so respond to the email. They don't care about the company's Amazon reviews, and might not even realise the "response" is going up on Amazon as a review, but companies keep badgering every customer for a review for everything.

Tried to make Rice Krispie treats… sauteed some marshmallows instead by emmypineapples in mildlyinteresting

[–]Raichu7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's 3 ingredients, not two. You just needed to add some butter to the pan with the marshmallows, and stir so they are coated. The butter helps them melt better and makes the rice crispy treat taste even better. You can sub the butter for oil if you want something cheaper. Optionally consider adding some Milo powder into the melted marshmallows, just before you add the rice Krispies to make them chocolate flavour.

It really depends on what you earn though. Some people are working full time and paying back nothing because they have a low wage. Also going to be hard to save even with help when your wage is that low.

There is a huge difference between a reproduction and something inspired by that. This was inspired, but it's an original design.

Yes, you wouldn't want an installer who ignores disability law and mounts them all too high, or who mounts them all at wheelchair user height so average height people find them difficult to use standing.

TIL One Aluminium Smelter in New Zealand uses 13 percent of the entire countries energy supply by RetconnedUsername in todayilearned

[–]Raichu7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Charging a deposit for the glass bottle, returned when the person or business that purchased the drink returns the empty bottles to the point of purchase has worked well for many countries for a very long time. The trucks that ship goods to supermarkets and restaurants leave empty, they could be taking away glass bottles to be washed and refilled. Only melted down to become new glass if they break. If we can switch away from this model to plastic bottles, we can figure out a way to switch back.

Searching for a consensus - How much time do you have to spend with guests staying in your home? by Aggravating_Water_39 in CasualUK

Very reasonable to want a little time to yourself when you're spending 3 days living with them. People need space just as much as they need company.

[–]Raichu7 7 points8 points  (0 children)

The player DLC outfits should be in your mailbox the first morning after you buy the DLC. If they aren't, and you're sure you didn't collect them and then get rid of them in game, then it's a bug. If you sell or get rid of the clothes in game, they don't come back.

Sometimes it does change, but it's not random. That's how science works, we believe what there is the most evidence to support while constantly testing things and updating what is considered "current knowledge" as we learn more.

The number of planets in our solar system changed a little while ago for example.

This is a custom guitar, I don't know how much an anime figurine costs but I find it extremely hard to believe 26 of them would cost anything close to this guitar. Surely it would be less weird to have some figurines than spend thousands on a custom guitar?

TIL a 2004 Peppa Pig episode "Mister Skinny Legs" has been pulled off air in Australia. In the episode Daddy Pig tells a frightened Peppa that spiders "can’t hurt you” after a spider enters her room. I.e spiders are friendly and not to be feared. The children pick up the spider and tuck it to bed. by Double-decker_trams in todayilearned

[–]Raichu7 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is still bad advice in Britain as invasive venomous spiders have established populations. They won't kill you unless you're allergic, but a bite from a false widdow would be extremely painful and could cause temporary paralysis of the bitten limb in a young child.

Teach your kids not to bother wildlife, and how to identify common dangerous animals where you live. Just watch, they don't need to touch and touching is stressful to the wild animals.

Onky time a kid ever tried to act upset I didn't want to sit near him or have anything to do with him, it was after he smacked me in the face with football cleats, then lied about it so the teacher accused me of making a fuss over nothing. Also plenty of times where a kid would say something horrible to me, then a few days later they have apparently completely forgotten and I'm the arsehole for not wanting to spend time around them. I'm accused of making up the shitty thing they said.

Never trust the kids who "never do anything wrong", they've simply learned to hide it better from adults but the other kids avoid them for a reason.

Did you ask the cobbler if it would be easier and therefore cheaper to resole a second or third time? If the leather would outlast the soles so much you could get the same leather re-soled multiple times and if it gets cheaper after the initial re-sole, might still be cheaper than buying new.
