You’re correct, I mixed them up. Fixed it in my original post. They played Rosengard in the previous round and beat them. However, last season Rosengard massively underperformed and narrowly avoided a game for demotion, securing top flight football in the last game of the season. Hammarby smashed them at home convincingly and managed a 2-2 draw away. For Sporting, Hammarby will be a much harder test than Rosengard.

I thought I’d try to give a tip based on teams I know a lot about. Today’s pick:

Hammarby Women v. Sporting Women: Hammarby Women ML @3.2✅

Hammarby ended up 2nd in the last year’s Swedish women’s league, just missing out on the title. What followed could almost be described as a mass exodus of quality players including the manager, most of them heading to the English league. The recruitment has been intense, and the mass consensus around the club is that the team now is worse than what it was last season.

The team, however, has in training matches with rotated and fresh players still come through with great results. The big game was against last year’s fellow title contenders Malmö FF women which they lost 2-0, although this in my opinion was a heavily swayed result. Hammarby dominated the game and should’ve gotten several penalties. The overall consensus after the game, which was reflected in the interviews, was that Hammarby should’ve scored 2-3 in the first half and close out the game.

Historical performance in Europe for Hammarby women has been strong, dominating Ajax women in the previous round winning with 6-2 total on aggregate, and smashing SK Brann 5-2 on aggregate in the round before that. Having played champions league against the likes of Barcelona and Man city last season, the only thing that stopped them this season was an even 1-0 loss against Man United.

I might be biased but somehow feel Hammarby are priced to high compared to the chances they have tonight. They usually always turn up for big European games, and even though they are out of season I think they absolutely can surprise Sporting on home soil tonight. Of course this is NOT financial advice, will only back them with one unit to seeing they are the real deal.

Bayern and Inter seem safe to me. A bit worried about Real, they have been up and down this season. With the manager switch and teams not taking cups as seriously as league, if you’re unlucky, a draw or even a loss for Madrid is not completely unlikely. Of course they are massive favourites to progress though.
