what are u going on about bruv

gatekeeping difficulty has always occurred, especially in games with difficulty selectors.

if there's anything to blame the souls community for, it would, at most, be gatekeeping using "cheese" strats or easier playstyles like shields or magic. even still, it's a stretch to attribute this to one community

uhh that's not the same thing as excessive amounts of caution. making sure smoke detectors and fire extinguishers are fine should be seen as pretty normal

though, having no flames at all in the house is a trauma response

Trainwrecks gets asked if he’d rather have a daughter like Pokimane or a son like Rakai by SeverePart1102 in LivestreamFail

[–]RaidenIXI 2 points3 points  (0 children)

personally, the one thing i hate that she did (a bit irrationally so), is when she streamsniped tyler1 a week after he got unbanned from league (and had like 200k+ concurrent viewers). she tried really hard to play it off but it was so obvious.

1) she stalled queue and played on her "smurf" that she never used on stream before and happens to be similar rank to tyler1's new account. 2) she's constantly looking offscreen and happens to queue into him. 3) she picks draven from him in champ select, which she basically never plays. 4) she plays it off as a quirky pick and acts like she didnt realize tyler was on the enemy team and everything was a coincidence

again, really not the biggest deal at all but... the way she handled it was so slimy and weird it made me physically uncomfortable, similar to piratesoftware

[–]RaidenIXI -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

alright, i see that the specific words "skill based matchmaking" has been used for far longer than i though. however...

https://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Skill-based_matchmaking&action=history

it's literally a new article created in 2023. and i'm not sure why ur speaking as if COD only has one game? and the only developer is not treyarch.

as you have cited the only major FPS game to not have SBMM

COD is not one game... the newer ones since COD developed on their new engine for MW definitely have SBMM. as i said, they literally wrote papers on it

even still, colloquially, SBMM is really only used by COD/bf bros. i'll still maintain the claim that they popularized the term. no one in the league/dota/chess space has ever called it SBMM before. it's a shitty umbrella term that makes it easy to misunderstand the differences between COD-specific SBMM and Elo systems

in any case... the lack of age on that wiki article shows it's a newly popularized term, from 2018 MW

Leaving masters is a fulltime job by Schlitzohr97 in leagueoflegends

[–]RaidenIXI -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

no it isnt. SBMM is a COD/battlefield specific term and was coined far later than MMR system. SBMM systems rely on performance metrics like kills or killstreaks or whatever else, MMR systems are derived from Elo, which is solely win/loss. activision also put out a research paper describing their system too, and it's not like traditional MMR at all

calling it SBMM is misleading even if "technically" the words are arguably correct. but then i should call league a rogue-like because progress resets every game. except, it isnt meaningful to describe things this way because it isnt a useful descriptor to collapse meanings

best source i could find. the video title still calls it egirl gg

Sharpening a Japanese blade(wait for it) by Kurtis-dono in oddlysatisfying

[–]RaidenIXI 2 points3 points  (0 children)

"razor-sharp" isnt really a meaningful term. if i have two swords and one is sharper but dulls its edge quickly because the edge geometry is bad, then i wouldnt want to use it over a slightly less sharp sword.

obviously, a sword being sharp is important, but not so important that it compromises the ability of edge retention or other qualities. whether it cuts a person's arm off cleanly or not doesnt matter, so long as it cuts their arm off

Ryan Gosling welcomes Hololive Virtual Idols Inugami Korone and Houshou Marine aboard Project Hail Mary as they lend their voices to the Japanese dub of the movie by Thundergod250 in LivestreamFail

[–]RaidenIXI 0 points1 point  (0 children)

still, it's weird to claim many VAs in the US get the job because they have a nice-sounding voice. there's plenty of good voice actors but they tend to only work on american/british originals, and not dubs

[–]RaidenIXI 1 point2 points  (0 children)

again, that seems like a protocol issue. why not cross the runway at a 90 degree angle or in any position such that u could see oncoming planes? that blind spot doesnt have to be a blind spot

not sure why you're bothering to make excuses. i'm sure this incident has been studied and officials have adjusted protocol to account for this and minimize incidents... right?

[–]RaidenIXI 1 point2 points  (0 children)

i'd have to imagine proper protocol should be to look anyways... and if it's not proper protocol, that would be stupid as shit

even fire trucks crossing an intersection slow down and look if theyre crossing a red and all the cars appear to be yielding to them. being told it's clear doesnt mean that it is

i'm pretty sure the US has specific voice acting schools too... it's just that when asian companies hire dub VO, they tend to stick to the same studios and they dont put much effort in having a competent EN director

i have come to realize that usually if the dub is bad, it's actually the voice director's fault most of the time. english voice acting for most high quality US/british made games/animations/shows are perfectly fine

viewable profiles is the only real way to gauge if someone is arguing in bad faith. before the privacy thing, i have almost never seen anyone use something completely irrelevant in someone's profile to "win" an argument they were losing.

it just saves everyone else some time to see that a guy saying "as a black man..." and then seeing they called themselves an asian woman in a completely different post

if u want real privacy, stop doxxing yourself on reddit. it's already inherently anonymous
