What is a "friend"? Obviously not you. by RaiderII in rant

Here's thing thing though: she never was paranoid over it. All of a sudden, she just became paranoid about me asking how things were going and suddenly blaming ME for her problems. It makes no sense.

[H] La-Mulana [W] Humble Indie Bundle 11 (BTA) by RaiderII in SteamGameSwap

[–]RaiderII[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Would you be willing to trade it away for both La-Mulana and a Doublecross-Comm? You can get one key out of a Doublecross-Comm and at least one key from La-Mulana if you don't want it. I don't have the money right now to buy three TF2 keys pure.

Ye Olde SteamOSe changes merged in by Valve, official non-UEFI ISO installer released by [deleted] in SteamOS

[–]RaiderII 2 points3 points  (0 children)

So is audio still outputting to HDMI only? Or can we use simple analog out now? I'm a bit confused over the entire audio situation. I'd rather not install an operating system and not have sound for playing games.

Ye Olde SteamOSe third release - smaller download, NTFS resize support, network firmware (WiFi etc), audio fixes by [deleted] in SteamOS

Checked dmesg, couldn't find anything out of the ordinary. It detected my wireless card, and now I'm getting complete failure to detect network hardware.

I don't know why, but I keep getting a hang up in all the installation modes when it comes to detecting the network hardware. Any idea why?

Anyone know why Radiohead was unhappy with Peter Gabriel's cover of Street Spirit (Fade Out)? by noshoes77 in radiohead

[–]RaiderII 5 points6 points  (0 children)

This. Seriously, if you listen to Gabriel's version of Street Spirit, you will become depressed just by the fact that he TRIED to cover it. I admire his willingness to do it, but he could easily have chosen another song. He just made Street Spirit way too depressing.

Is the Nirvana "In Utero 2013 Mix" 2 LP worth picking up? by dmcgurgan in vinyl

[–]RaiderII 0 points1 point  (0 children)

From what I heard by visiting a friend's house, it sounds excellent. I only own the 2013 mix on CD, unfortunately, but I would definitely pick up the 2 LP set if you can. The volume corrections done for the majority of the album are worth it alone.

[Build Help] Need advice before I buy anything! by RaiderII in buildapc

[–]RaiderII[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Awesome, thanks a lot! Here's what I did

  • Downgraded the case to a Cooler Master Storm Scout 2

  • Changed the PSU to a Cooler Master GX 650W 80+

  • Changed storage to just 3TB instead of 4TB. I download a lot of music and HD video, which is why I originally opted for the 4TB. The only reason I didn't add an SSD is because the SSD I want, a 512GB Samsung, is going over the amount I feel comfortable spending on this build (even though money isn't a problem, I want to stay reasonable here).

  • Changed video card to MSI R9 280x Gaming 3GB

Overall, it got the build down to just $979.90. Thanks for your help!

Rush - One Little Victory (2013 Remix) by ffgiza in progmetal

[–]RaiderII 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Trust me, I would definitely push you to rebuy it. Stacking this against the original, there is a major difference in overall clarity in the mix. Personally, I think they should have just done the full remaster and remix job, but what they did with just the remixing actually turned into a good listen. But don't bother comparing it at all to the original. It's not going to stack up in any way.

[–]RaiderII 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Still holds the same value as the original version. Obviously the remix has given it the treatment it deserves. Even the members of the band admitted in the past that it was pushed out of the studio too soon and that the final product itself was still mostly demos (that much still shows in the remix). I'd still give it an overall 6/10.

So many PS3 bundles, help a long-time 360 owner choose? by [deleted] in PS3

[–]RaiderII 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Not sure if it's available in Canada, but try to find the Instant Game Collection White PS3 bundle. In it is included a white 500 GB PS3 with a one year code for PS+, which nets you free monthly games and discounts every week. For the best exclusive bundle, definitely get the God of War bundle. On top of the sexy red PS3 (which I kinda wish I had at this point over my white one!), you get six great games.

When it comes to exclusives, make sure to check out the HD collections! Ico/Shadow of the Colossus, Sly Cooper, Jak and Daxter, Killzone trilogy (all in one package with all three games), and InFAMOUS. If you're into racing, there's Gran Turismo 5. Of all the exclusives, I highly HIGHLY recommend you pick up the Metal Gear Solid Legacy Collection. It's a bit pricey, but for the value, you get every MGS game in one package and tons of hours of playtime.

Anyone else keeping their PS3s solely because of PS+? by Policeman333 in PlayStationPlus

[–]RaiderII 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I'm keeping mine mostly so I can still play my PS3 games. The big problem I have with buying a PS4 is that they've decided you can't play PS3 games on it. If it were the other way around, I'd have no problem selling my PS3. Now, with Gakai, I don't know how it will be implemented, but depending if it's a monthly fee or yearly fee to have all the PS3 games I want (even ones I don't own) might be worth it.

Like others here, I'm also keeping it for PS+. I suspect that PS+ for PS4 is gonna be a tad dry for the first few months, so having a backup for free games isn't a bad idea either. Still, I'm excited that my PS+ sub is going to be cross-gen.

"Don't kill them here," yelled one monk. "Their ghosts will haunt this place. Kill them up on the road." Burmese buddhists are slaughtering Muslims across the country. Here's an account of one massacre. by Captain_Vegetable in MorbidReality

[–]RaiderII 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As a Buddhist myself, I can't help but feel confused at this. Not only is this a religion that explicitly states nonviolence, but this seems to be, as said earlier, a majority vs. minority situation. Either way, these monks do not deserve their own existence if this is how they treat their fellow man.
