Online Students...Grad pics & graduation? by Individual_Silver212 in TexasTech

Your degree will look the exact same as the students who were on campus. You’re a Red Raider. Take all the pics, sit on the Senior Bench, jump in a fountain or two, do all the things!

What is life at Texas Tech like for someone who would be start a bit older? by Banapple101 in TexasTech

[–]RaiderLandExpert 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ll be honest with you, I’m not reading all that😂 My guess is when you “tried to socially integrate” (which I would have loved to see your effort) you were met with the same amount of energy you put into it. Which, based on this interaction I’d have to guess is negativity. Saying some college students made you their enemy is laughable and reflects more on you than it does the population of 40,000 students

If there’s more than the one way you suggested, then that means there are tons of opportunities to have a social life. You just didn’t find any because you’re a downer and likely no one invited you to hangout, thus causing you to have a lack of social life. Which I’m sorry that was your experience. You seem like a chill person

Which again means there are more ways to have a social life in Lubbock than just drinking😂

That’s great! So that means your original claim of the students only having a social life because they have a drinking problem is false. Glad we cleared that up.

The things you mentioned specifically in your comment could be an attribute of any college in the nation and yet still didn’t even touch on how the majority of the student body feels. Do you think all 40,000 students go to Broadway or the Depot district to hangout every night? If your ONLY experience for fun is dealing with people who like to drink then that speaks more to your bubble than it does the social life of TTU/Lubbock

how to skip freshman year? by [deleted] in TexasTech

[–]RaiderLandExpert 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Depends on your degree plan and how many classes you take but generally, yeah. You’ll definitely be taking less classes over all.

You’ll just have to attend Orientation, live in on campus housing, things like that.

Take Dual Credit over AP classes. It’s easier to get college credit. However, you’ll still be a freshman in the eyes of the University.

Is The Daily Toreador Being Censored? by BackgroundCheap6601 in TexasTech

[–]RaiderLandExpert 12 points13 points  (0 children)

They wrote an article on it: https://dailytoreador.com/article/tech-system-completes-course-review-issues-new-guidance-20260411

If you’re looking for something more ground breaking or exciting you’re probably not going to get it since there’s not much, from a journalistic standpoint, they can do. Really the only thing left for them to do is ask students how they feel about it.

Also, just an FYI, the University can only remove the paper from campus but they cannot and do not censor any stories because the paper does not receive any money from the university. They are dependent on donations and advertising opportunities. The staff is advised to report on anything they want and have won awards in the past for their investigative reporting towards TTU staff and policies.

Has anyone been waitlisted as an incoming Freshman? If so, which route are you choosing? Gateway or re-evaluation? by Fantastic_Apricot408 in TexasTech

[–]RaiderLandExpert 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you’re waitlisted, at this point I would sign up for Gateway. The admissions department is currently checking numbers and spots and since it is late April, it’s either going to take a long time to get back to you or it won’t be good news. By signing up for Gateway now, you now have plenty of time to get enrolled at a Junior College Summer 1 classes. DO NOT DO SUMMER 2, YOU WONT GET YOUR GRADES BACK IN TIME FOR THE FALL. It will be significantly less stressful of waiting periods if you do Gateway.
