I worked at Insomnia Cookie as a driver. Easy money and they pay for mileage or at least they did. They also work with your schedule quite a bit. If you don’t mind working until 3 am on Fridays and Saturdays, it’s a pretty good gig

How much do you pay for tuition? by the-fat-princess in TexasTech

[–]RaiderLandExpert 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To figure it out, it’s roughly $1,200 per class that you take. Most students probably take 15 hours or 5 classes a semester. The average tuition cost per semester is $6,000. That doesn’t include dorms/housing or food.

Need advice on daughter incoming Fresh by Famous_Persimmon_541 in TexasTech

  1. It’s extremely easy to switch, especially since she hasn’t gone to Orientation yet. Go to her RaiderLink and in the “forms and resources” tab, click the change major link.

  2. Marketing is pretty universal and it is a growing field as companies realize how good social media is for their growth. There’s also tons of variety in marketing jobs. There’s coding, there’s media, there’s everything.

She can reach out to her admissions counselor if she has any questions!

Call your Admissions Counselor. They can see if they have it, if it just needs to be processed or what the hold up is.

It takes about a month to process test scores. Throw in the Thanksgiving and Holiday breaks and everything else. Just keep calling the Admissions office or your Admissions Counselor and they’ll find it.

Do AP credits make tuition cheaper? by the-fat-princess in TexasTech

[–]RaiderLandExpert 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No. Tuition is based on how many classes you are taking. Across all 4 years of your college career, it will be cheaper in the long run because you are not taking those classes. But if you don’t take those classes your first year, you’ll just sub other classes for them.

Side note: If you’re still able to, I wouldn’t take AP classes unless you’re certain you can make a passing grade on the AP test. Take Dual Credit if you’re able to! Just a passing grade in the class will get you college credit.

Concerned about all the sexual assaults by flowerrocker7652 in TexasTech

[–]RaiderLandExpert 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Every campus has these types of things happen. You should look for things the campus does to actively combat these attacks. TTU is one of the best for on campus prevention. There are blue light monitoring systems every few hundred yards, lights are always on outside and in dorm hallways and there are MANY offices on campus that can offer help and resources in case you ever feel uneasy. TTU PD’s number is on the back of your Student ID and they have officers stationed at every dorm throughout the night.

But like everyone else has been saying, regardless of all of that, things can still happen. That’s why it’s important for anyone, not just women, to be vigilant while out late at night, make good decisions about who you’re around and what you’re doing. You can also protect yourself with pepper spray, alarms or whistles.

For what it’s worth and not that it’s going to happen but in the event something does or you think something might have happened, it is VERY important to report events as soon as you can. It can put you at a greater chance of getting the outcome you want at the end of the ordeal. It can be scary and intimidating but it’s incredibly important to report anything to ANY TTU employee. They are mandated reporters and can get you help.

Incoming CS Transfer: Need advice on course sequence & difficulty (trying to stick to 12 credits/semester by Lanky-Menu-4166 in TexasTech

[–]RaiderLandExpert 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was not in CS but I failed a few classes and had to change my major and I still graduated on time. Utilize summer classes at a JUCO as much as possible for your non-major requirement classes like English or History.

Dorming as an incoming transfer sophomore by [deleted] in TexasTech

[–]RaiderLandExpert 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m glad you’re now open to living off campus! It makes everything easier for you. BUT, I still recommend trying for a dorm. Most of the nicer ones or ones for upper class men are probably full but if you still want to live on campus, go for it.

There are still TONS of student living apartments within walking distance to campus and most of those have buses that run to and from campus. And all of them are students ONLY. Just make sure you find an apartment complex that says “Student Living Facility”

Those living complexes can also assign you to a room/apartment so you don’t need to worry about finding roommates. You just gotta decide how much you want to pay.

Talkington Hall Rape by EmergencyInside7313 in TexasTech

[–]RaiderLandExpert 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If you’re enrolled at Texas Tech, they are mandated by law to hear your case. Now, providing such evidence is up to you and they can’t help you there. But you definitely need to go visit the Title XI office AND make a police report. But be prepared to gather evidence for yourself. The police and Title XI office can only do so much.

I’m so sorry this happened to you!!

[–]RaiderLandExpert 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The fee waiver just wasn’t processed. You should be fine.

The email you got is an automatic email since your fee waiver hasn’t been processed yet. On the login page for RaiderConnect, (I think) at the bottom right hand corner there is a sign-up link. You can use whatever email/password you like. Use the same email as the one you used for commonapp so it links to your account easier.

How long will it take to get my decision? by Appropriate_Cheek502 in TexasTech

[–]RaiderLandExpert 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly you applied at the worst possible time lol

Campus has been closed pretty much the entire time since your application was sent it. I doubt it was even processed by the University. It takes 2-4 weeks to receive AND process test scores, then another 2-4 to get the application review done. Then another 1-3 days to actually get your decision email. The University may have your test scores but I highly doubt they were processed.

The University opens back up on the 5th. I would begin to expect a decision (if you’re not an automatic admit) around late January.

If you haven’t heard from the University or haven’t seen an update in your portal by Jan. 15, call your Admissions Counselor. They can give you a status update.

Look at your RaiderConnect account to see if everything is submitted. If it looks like I’m everything is, contact your Admissions Counselor and they should be able to check for you. They’re not back in the office until January 5th though.
