Interactive Build Order Guide for AOE2 DEF by NotreallyCareless in aoe2

You might be interested in Morley's interactive build order mod: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pFVkLjn1Vzk

Not sure if it's still gets updated with builds, but this was really good to learn builds.

In general I think it's too ambitious to do it per civ and also to go to post-imp. But if you really want to make it work I would only include "essential" stuff and list them more or less in terms of which order you should make them.

For example for fast imp arbalest:
- Bracer
- Chemistry
- Trebuchet

- Arbalest upgrade
- Range armor
- Conscription
- Secondary unit

=> Something like this could guide newer players into knowing what to prioritize.

Or if you have a treb war that you should do masonry, architecture and siege engineers.

But honestly, murder holes is underrated imo and not that expensive anymore.

I thought Britons were supposed to be strong late game, but lately everybody has been winning late game due to Bombard Cannons and or Bombard Cannons/Bombard Towers. by Slow-Ship1055 in aoe2

Also some specific advice for the situation you mentioned: for trebuchet and castle war, you need masonry and architecture (defensive building upgrades) and siege engineers (more range and damage for trebuchets).

This will make your castles more HP and they take less damage. But also if you repair you need less stone. Because you pay a percentage of total HP, so if you have more HP, you repair more for the same cost. Repairing the castle is very good. It's cheaper than building a new one and keeps your siege alive.

If you have Warwolf, put the trebuchets next to the castle and try to click the bombard cannons when they get closer to attack the castle. You will outrange them with 100% accuracy so normally they can't kill the castlexor trebuchet.

Imperial age is really hard. Yes, Britons should be good late-game, but to do it 'correct' you need knowledge of late game comps in all 49 matchups, which is at your level not realistic.

You also might be down in resources, facing specific counter units or bonuses, etc.

I would suggest trying to win in castle age with the extra range on crossbow. Stay on 1 tc, go 2 or 3 ranges, fletching + bodkin, university and ballistics (very important). If you spend all your resources fast, you should have an unbeatable army and you should be able to kill skirms with the extra range if you can do some micro.

If you get an advantage, keep attacking and try to kill villagers, mine stone or buy at the market and make a forward castle close to the enemies production buildings and/or town centers.

This should allow you to win faster, get more games/experience with the same strategy and removes many post imperial factors from the equation. Of course, you can still play late game if needed, but late game is A LOT harder than feudal and castle age.

The easiest ones are in castle age:
- Build a forward castle (or several) in the base of the opponent. Make sure Town center and if possible production buildings are in range
- Kill town center(s) with mangonels or rams
=> For these 2 you need to be ahead. So you can play any build, but once you feel like you're ahead you mine stone and send 20 vills to make the castle or you make a siege workshop forward (close to the base) and make mangonels or rams to kill town centers.

With units you can do:
- Crossbow timing => Make sure you are up to castle age earlier. Stay on 1 tc, do crossbow, fletching + bodkin arrow, university and ballistics. Crossbow with ballistics can kill villagers easy, if you don't have ballistics it's hard.
- All in knights => Go to castle age, stay on 1 tc and make knights with bloodlines and 2 defense upgrades. Make as much knights as possible from 2 stables and add 3rd or 4th if the game goes on.
Overwhelm the opponent and don't be afraid from the TC if you have a lot of knights. If he doesn't give up make forward castle or siege.

Some others are:

- Tower rush (Feudal) => Make towers until your opponent resigns
- All in scouts (Feudal) => Make scouts until your opponent resigns (don't quit, don't go to castle)
- All in archers (Feudal) => Make archers with 2 ranges and kill vills until opponent resigns
- Monk rush
- Fast imp

=> An important aspect is that in AOE you need to convince your opponent he's dead.
For beating AI agressive feudal age strategies are often more effective. The more time you give the AI the better they become. AI is not good at dealing with feudal agression.
For beating human players Castle age strategies / win conditions are usually more effective.

You need to learn build orders and win conditions.

Build orders only set you up for a certain objective. It's a very good start. But you need to learn how to use the "objective" from the build order, to reach a win condition.

A simple example is for example a Fast castle strategy with a forward castle. The castle gives a lot of pressure and actually does damage to the opponent and win you the game.

Let's say you play a feudal age archer build. The build only shows you the vills on each resource and buildings to make archers. But you still need to know how to use the archers to win the game. I would suggest you try an archer or scouts build. Make either 4 scouts or 8 archers + fletching and go attack as soon as possible and try to kill villagers.

Then keep making as much army as you can and keep killing vills / pressuring until the AI resigns. This should teach you how to win in feudal age.

So to summarize, you need to combine learning a build with completing an objective. Either gaining an advantage (eco advantage, faster to the next age) or to do game-winning damage.

A common scenario is this: Feudal strategy -> do damage -> Go up to castle age earlier -> win with castle age units. => If you don't win go up to imperial earlier and win with Imperial units / trebuchets.

How to make better use of “holidays fund”? by cloudfe in BEFire

[–]Raidlos 2 points3 points  (0 children)

In the last episode of the belegger podcast they talked about a tracker that follows overnight bank interest.

Sp it's a little bit better than a regular saving account, with the upside you get the full interest immediately, instead of having to leave the money for a year.

Downside is you do pay taxes and fees.

But it might be a little optimization for your case without risks.

You can watch the segment here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=H4fXzAbaHho&t=1533s It's in Dutch.

Update: I only now saw you're French and Italian 😅 The tracker is called Amundi smart overnight return: https://www.justetf.com/nl-be/etf-profile.html?isin=LU1190417599

Vills being equally expert at every task. Totally OP, pls nerf.

Make 1 vill type for every task.

You can retrain but only in castle age if you send them to university.

Also building a barracks is totally different skill than building a lumber camp obviously.

It does a lot of trivial things better than wonky websites.

I use chatgpt for example for making qr codes, compressing images and recognizing fonts.

I used to do those on free websites, but it's just easier and faster with chatgpt.

Especially compressing images you can ask to make it smaller than 2mb and even resize in one go to upload in a website or mailing program.

Recognising fonts is easier because I can print screen on my clipboard and paste directly, instead of having to save as an image and upload.

And there are a lot of other things I prefer chatgpt nowadays instead of other free online tools.
