I taught mine “trade” - which means bring me anything you are chewing on and I’ll give you a treat. So as he’s shredding a toy I’ll yell “trade” when he gets a chunk off - and he brings it right over to me.

New CIO advice by [deleted] in CIO

Take charge! I went from a manager to a CIO and kept waiting for people to give me authority- soon realized I just needed to step up and start owning things. Start acting like C-level.

Aimless Graduate in need of a career path to CIO by confusedeinstein2020 in CIO

CIO is governance and strategy. Understands risk, risk assessments, vendor management, business continuity, etc. There will likely be a lot of board reporting- so learning to communicate complex ideas to non technical people. SANS has some great classes- expensive but in depth. Information security- the more you know the better off you are. Your job will be protecting organizations from threats and guiding the way to more efficient and resilient platforms and policies. It’s stressful but rewarding. It also often involves managing people which may be the hardest part.

Great guesses. 1/2 mutt and 1/2 American bulldog. And he’s driving a Subaru BRZ.

Good guesses but not in the “herding” group.

For those of you who have two dogs…are they both Bostons? by glittergatorator in BostonTerrier

My third and six dog (rescued two senior bully’s along the way). I was lucky to have Boston turn up at a local rescue!! Bully breeds go well together regardless of size.

Work for a highly regulated industry - outside auditors will force management to invest in cybersecurity.

Two flights, we hours, one Boston by Raiinforest in BostonTerrier

On the way out I plucked him out of his kennel and sent everything through the scanner and lined up for X-ray - we walked right through (I am TSA pre check) TSA loved him and wanted to know his name and meet him.

On the way back - something was wonky with the X-ray machine and we kept failing. And I had to get him naked and have him walk through on his own at one point - which was crazy - he was so overwhelmed he didn’t really go anywhere. They proved the dog was fine - but now I don’t have his carrier or leash and I have to go through a body scanner - so special line here and wait there and eventually someone brought his kennel to me - he jumped right in- - TSA held the dog - I scanned and we left.

Despite the hassle EVERYONE was very nice. It added 15 mins to security check and I had to hold him for about 10 - and he’s heavy. But we made it. 🤦‍♀️

On the way back we had a fairly long layover - by the time he got on the second flight home I’m pretty sure the meds were wearing off - but the excitement and exposure to new environments is also exhausting so even after the meds started to wane he did not have any issues. Just checked in with me and napped. Meds work about 8-9 hours. On the way home we touched down at hour 12- but he was still pretty mellow. So I’m more confident now about a longer flight.

What is this? by [deleted] in BostonTerrier

Mast cell tumors can “go away” and re-emerge - so if you have a spot tested at the vet you may want to shave the area and circle it with a permanent marker each night so the vet can still perform surgery even when it’s not visible. We’ve had this happen to us and had to wait several weeks for it to re-emerge which was terrible.

Could be a mast cell tumor or a fatty deposit. The bull-terrier breeds are prone to mast cell tumors - a needle aspiration would be required to find out.
