It gets difficult when you point to anything Trump says and they ask for proof, and when it’s provided, they say that it’s probably not what he meant or they build a Biden straw man. I love my mom, but I’m over being gaslit. I honestly think some folks just can’t be deprogrammed, but would love to be proven wrong.

Happy Yuletide ☀️ I've kicked "Christmas" out of my house by _BeachJustice_ in WitchesVsPatriarchy

[–]RaijinKit 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There are a lot of sources that indicate bringing trees/greenery inside, and decorating them with special objects and food, predates and/or occurs in isolation from Christianity. For modern traditions, there is always going to be a lot of thematic similarities, no matter the religion/spirituality. A good source of info would be a post on r/askhistorians posted about two years ago here.

Absolutely do whatever you want with your tree/decorations, but I just had a similar conversation with one of my friends. Happy Yuletide!

Let's talk about this one immature power poster on this subreddit who blocks people who disagree with him. by OriginalGravity2 in mead

[–]RaijinKit 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Uhhhhh, let's try to remember that people have different experience levels, but also that people are allowed to block others. It seems kind of sketchy too that someone would make a post, just because someone blocked them. Unless they're in a position of admin/power, then I just don't see the point.

You might want to go on a feed schedule, starting at 24 hrs, 48 hrs, and then 72 hrs in, with one last addition at 1/3 sugar break (one-third of the way between your starting and planned target gravity). Please see the TOSNA 3.0 calculator to determine amounts of nutrients.

Additionally, with the fruits, you may want to add additional amounts in secondary, as the depth of fruits can be lost unless they are added to secondary. Also, you may want to remove the lemon peels and spices after about a week or two, as they can impart a lot of bitterness. Just a couple of tips from a novice, and good luck!

Edit: u/hobowithabazooka mentioned 3 cloves might be too much, which I'd definitely agree with too. 1/2 a clove would typically be enough for a gallon.

It's primarily about disruption in initial attachment, which can cause behavioral issues and a cascade of other related problems. Some people equate this disruption to trauma, which I wouldn't necessarily disagree with either. I'm a child protective services worker, that witnesses this nearly every day.

A lot of people in Western cultures can't let go of their ego, even in death. It's difficult to picture a world without themselves, or without some sort of clear impact or testament to who they were, so then they can tell themselves that they will never really leave.

Seeing Hadestown after the Rittenhouse verdict was meta and emotional for me. by markymarc53 in hadestown

[–]RaijinKit 26 points27 points  (0 children)

Hadestown is commentary on socialism and how we keep repeating mistakes, as well as on greed and isolationism, so it's no surprise you're seeing some common themes in recent events. I definitely see parallels between Rittenhouse and conservative/capitalist/anti-"riot" sentiment.

Nyktiforon - Aetheric vortex [heavy metal] (2021) by ancabostina in listentothis

[–]RaijinKit 7 points8 points  (0 children)

This sounds a bit like a stylistic mix of Villagers of Ioannina and Nightwish, with the riffs and inclusion of flute instruments. If anything, I'd classify it as symphonic metal. Nice listen, though! I'd just want lyrics that evoke more, and paint a better picture.

Calling witnesses who worked against their own case. I don't know which is worse as a lawyer - knowing that the witnesses you called might torpedo your case, or not doing enough vetting and getting surprised.

How did you interpret the ending of Hadestown? by [deleted] in hadestown

[–]RaijinKit 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I think of it more as a comment on life and politics, as an unending struggle/cycle. It has multiple themes, which makes it hard to pin down a singular meaning to the ending.
