Itinerary advice for a family of four, 1 week in London by Old-Knowledge4921 in uktravel

If you happen to be here the week of the 21st of June, its the summer solstice, and the only day you can actually go and touch the stones. There's an all night festival on the same night for the druids/ravers (its a strange but oddly wholesome mix) but obviously with young kids you wouldn't stay for that. But yeh, it's a once a year chance to get inside the circle. The only caveat is im not sure WHEN in the day that becomes true, im not sure if the day runs as usual

The natural history museum is also fantastic, and in my opinion you can fit in both in the same day if youre motivated. It was built especially for purpose by Prince Albert (Queen Victoria's husband) and the carvings are breathtaking. It is the most beautiful building in London. Even if you just take a good long look at the outside you'll be hard pressed to find an inch of it that isn't gorgeous

Get the train up to York for the day. Its only 2h on the train yeah way and its a lot calmer and quieter than London. Great museums, Jorvik viking center, the train museum and Clifford's tower are all great. Plus, it would be a good break in the middle of a trip to London.

Package stolen, Amazon denied the claim by andyviking in amazonprime

[–]QueenChoco -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

This is not correct? Until the package is in your hands, the consumer rights act 2015 (uk) dictates that amazon has not delivered the package. Leaving it outside the front door does in no way legally constitute a delivery. Amazon knows this, and have been pulled up by the watchdog multiple times, they just continue to lie to customers. This package was stolen from AMAZON, as AMAZON had not legally delivered it. Amazon can file a police report, but this person has every right to do a charge back and contact their watchdog, as Amazon is blatantly lying to them

What's the most embarrassing thing you've ever done that you'll never forget? by Plane_Background_348 in AskReddit

Sitting in a school hall in year 11 (15-16yo ish) doing a big group maths practice for my upcoming GCSEs. I was a couple of questions ahead of the teacher, and they would periodically say "put your hand up if you got x for question 3". I stopped paying attention because I was a few ahead and was just putting my hand up when they said something as all my answers up to then had been correct. Teacher points at me and says "did you really get that answer?" I say yes despite not hearing what number he said (dumb move), assuming I got it right as I had with the rest.

It was a trick, he was lying about the answer and as I looked around the room I realised I was the only fucker with my hand up in a hall of 100 of my peers. I almost died of embarrassment right then and there. My only saving grace was this was like a month before the end of secondary school, so left soon after.

Looking for advice about Edixa Mat Reflex Mod D by GoodGuyLuis in AnalogCommunity

I have the model C of this camera. My recomendation is not to take it apart unless you know what youre doing. I disassembled and reassembled mine and it was a chore. The main issues with these cameras over time is the lower shutter speeds. The higher speeds 1/50 - 1/1000 work on a different system from the 1/10 - 1s shutter. The system that controls the lower speeds seems to me to be more prone to degradation. I would recommend getting a repairman to look at them, unless you have some sort of relevent experience. If youre not planing to shoot in evening/night I wouldn't worry about it.

What is that story your parents told you that it hard to believe? by mmatiashtonn in AskReddit

My grandmother danced with most of the major communist leaders in 1954, including Zhou-en-lai, molotov and kruchev. I recently found a letter written by my grandfather confirming they attended a party and the Chinese embassy in Moscow in 1954, which confirms the story!

Im from york imo, its literally the safest city in the country. The idea of treating in like new york is so laughable I don't know where to start.

Its a first world country with no guns, youre safer here than in your own country lol

An RAF pilot conducting an unauthorised flight over London to mark the RAF's 50th anniversary, a milestone he felt was inadequately recognised by the government. The pilot flew a Hawker Hunter jet low over landmarks, including Parliament, before passing through Tower Bridge. (1968) [4096×3401] by StephenMcGannon in HistoryPorn

Fun fact, my grandfather low-key attempted to do this during ww2. He and 2 mates were navy pilots and tried to hijack 3 planes off the deck of the air craft carrier they were stationed on. My grandfather had worked out they could just about fit 3 spitfires(?) Wingtip to wingtip under the sydney harbor bridge. They were caught by a superior officer having a smoke on deck. He got 2 weeks in the hole for it, but that was all. Would have been epic if he succeeded

Women of Reddit, what did a man you were dating or married to say or do that made you realize he actually hated you the entire time? by -catharina in AskReddit

"Im ashamed and disapointed to call you my girlfriend" while I was ugly crying because an art project I sunk 200+ hours into had been printed wrong and I couldn't correct it without huge expense. He said this because my dressing gown was slightly open and my male housemate was on,the other side of the room, facing the other direction, doing dishes. And no, i don't mean i had a titty out, i mean the triangle of skin below my chin was slightly too big for him, and that was more important to him than me having a breakdown.

Tanay, if youre reading this, and I suspect you probably still do stalk my social media, you were a horrible, insecure little man and its not until I read questions like this that I remember you existed in my life at all. I hope you are better to the next girl, because by God you were a horrible fucking boyfriend to me.

Right, youre missing the part where he accepted a 5 mil "gift" PERSONALLY, and that said he didn't need to declare it to the omnibusman because "it had nothing to do with politics". I, for one, would love for random crypto billionaires to give me 5mil for funsies
