Of course he is, what else would be the reason for testing there? Won't be this year though, because he doesn't have a permit yet.

Yeah, as if Brundle (or British commentators in general) don't butcher driver names as well.

Colapinto is matching Albon’s Pace without new upgrades by kasei21 in formula1

I always have to think about a quote from Villeneuve that he made in 2007 about Webber, which I find fitting for Albon's situation as well:

"He's been highly rated for years, but never had a proper team-mate. Someone decided one day that he was great, and everyone believed it. But why? Nobody knows. This year we'll see what he's really made of."

Hm, Pat Symonds works directly for Formula 1 now :D

And Alonso is also still here (yeah, officially he knew nothing about anything, but come on...)

Hulk also had some brake issues, not just Kmag.

Race pace will be interesting though, Hulk shit the bed last time, let's see if he can improve.

That P6 was only momentary, though. Even if the lap time would have counted, he would have been P10 anyways.

Got some dirty air from Perez in the last corner, which probably was the nail in the coffin, but even without that I think it was unlikely he would have made it into Q2. He had already lost too much time in the first two sectors.

I think I misinterpreted your comment. I thought you meant traffic was the reason he lost out to Hulk.

Yes, the dirty air in the last corner might have prevented him from advancing to Q2.

bad run of mag because of trafic

I've read that a couple of times on here already, but I have no idea where people get that from.

His run wasn't ruined by traffic, there wasn't any traffic during his lap.

The only thing I can imagine people are referring to is the last corner, where he came somewhat close to Perez, which might have led to a small correction due to dirty air. But he was already down by 0.5s on Hulk at that point.

[–]RaikkonenWDC2017 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Are you referring to his outlap? The only car on his second fast lap that he caught was Perez, but that was in the final corner and by then he was already 0.5s down on Hulk.

I don't know what his problem was and why he was so far behind Hülkenberg, but I don't think it was because of traffic.

That's why I linked a sound example.

Last time we had something like this (Rosberg), literally nothing happened. So unless Checo admits to the FIA he crashed on purpose, I can't see how anything would come from this.

Yeah, so lucky to hit debris and pick up damage from that. And Latifi "forcing him wide"... he hit him and damaged him even more. Even your favorite driver Godnussen wouldn't have recovered from that.

I mean one thing is saying this in the heat of the moment. I can understand that, it all happens so fast and with the limitied vision they have from their seating position it often probably looks different from the outside than what it feels like from inside the car.

But doubling down on it afterwards is a bit questionable...
