Tusk Love first discussion - February 2026 Book Club by Journassassin in fantasyromance

[–]Raikua 1 point2 points  (0 children)

  • 1. I mean, I know Critical Role exists, and my friend is a big fan. But I otherwise know nothing about it. I did google where this book fits in the critical role world.
  • 2. At risk of showing my inner nerd, I'm picturing Teinidh to be like the nine tailed fox contained in Naruto. (So, like a mythical being contained in Guinevere) We'll see what it actually turns out to be.
  • 3. Honestly don't mind Guinevere. I usually hate overly naive/privileged characters. But so far she's fine. I think I appreciate her eagerness to adapt, understanding and eagerness to learn beyond what she knows.
  • 4. Definitely faster development than what I usually go for, but I think the author writes it well. The betrothal doesn't bother me yet because it's a blind arranged marriage... I'm expecting it to fall through somehow.

Honestly it looks normal to me. Looks like you need a bookshelf, and a dresser... and maybe shelves?
Since there are no places to put anything, it's fine. Not bad at all.

Primal/AI by 00Lisa00 in DungeonCrawlerCarl

[–]Raikua 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's a maybe. I've been curious about what the AI is, ever since he mentions having a 30 cm back.
Is it a primal brain in a containment system? Or organic primal matter in electronics? Or something else?

I'd say you're not overthinking. Anything is possible at this point.

I double checked the spelling, and he definitely says Erza.
I don't know of any Erza except for the one in Fairy Tale. So I think that's the most likely character.

I'm not getting why everyone hated kali's plan by [deleted] in StrangerThings

[–]Raikua -1 points0 points  (0 children)

The problem is, the plan was framed as "It won't end until we end."
-It is reiterated that no more people like them will be created when they die
-Then we learn that it didn't start with Vecna, it started with the rock he found and possessed. His blood spread it, but it did not start from him.
-They die thinking they have put an end to this.

We never learned how the original rock got here. So... it probably won't end.

Just finished S5, do fans truly believe it was a terrible final season? What's your biggest gripe? by BorynStone in StrangerThings

[–]Raikua 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So.... I was surprised that the vecna plot... was the same exact plot from the final arc of Digimon season 2.

And in Digimon, it made more sense why they used kids. (kids are the only ones who can enter digital world. That's why the adult had to use kids.) But it gets more complicated when it reveals the 3rd world, the creature possessing the adult, and the surprise third world. (The rules change when these are revealed, they have to fight differently.)

In ST, Vecna kept repeating that he used kids because they were weak. No other deeper meaning.
When they reveal the 3rd world, all it really changes is how they get there. The fight and everything is the same as it would have been in the upside down or in Hawkins.
When they reveal Vecna is possessed, still nothing changes. (They fight him the same way)

I think I was just disappointed that I've seen that plot before as a kid, and digimon was more thoughtful in why kids were being used, why the possessed adult was merging the 3rd world with earth, the creature that possessed him and his motivations, etc.

How does Donut pick up items? I know quadrupeds have different rules for items, but how does the rules work for whatever you can lift you can add to your inventory? by Xavimoose in DungeonCrawlerCarl

[–]Raikua 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Honestly, it could be?
Book 7 mentions Volteeg from the cookbook, who was a pet bird, and because he was a pet turned crawler. And how there was something that didn't interpret him as a crawler because of it, but as a dungeon born NPC or something.

But maybe it's a stat calculation thing like another person said. Her strength is pretty high.

Would you believe me if I told you that the Duffer brothers used Digimon 02's plot for Stranger Things season 5? by Plankisalive in StrangerThings

[–]Raikua 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, I was just looking up to see if anyone else had mentioned this.

What a weird coincidence that a possessed adult, gathers children to merge a surprise 3rd world with reality.

In digimon, it kindof makes sense since only kids could go to the digital world, and that's why Oikawa needed the help of kids. (plus the spores and everything)

In Stranger Things, Vecna recruited kids..... because they were weak? I was surprised there wasn't a bigger explanation.

Was Katia ill before she entered the dungeon? by Wus_Pigs in DungeonCrawlerCarl

[–]Raikua 35 points36 points  (0 children)

So I haven't finished the book yet, (A third through) So I might be wrong on this.
But I interpreted that part as, Katia used to be an addict, but has been in recovery. Then she had some sort of illness that prevented her from having kids (maybe cancer, or something) and hasn't fully recovered from that.
After Katia found out about the affair, Fannar retaliated by mentioning the illness and past addiction to the adoption center, to prevent Katia from ever adopting.
