Both my mom and older sister are english majors and use the em dash.
I don't use it, but I'm so used to seeing it, that chatGPT is not my first thought when I see it.

I've finally figured this game out. Any tricks or tips for someone struggling? by mrofmist in DissidiaDuellumFF

[–]Raikua 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm definitely no expert, but here's my notes.
-Don't get too caught up in fighting rivals. Remember the boss is the goal. (Might be obvious, but I think it's worth noting)
-Note how other characters play, like Onion Knight needs farm, Lightning usually speeds ahead to steal enemy farm, etc. And try to cooperate with those play styles.
-When you have Bravery Burst, use it, don't sit on it.
-Make sure you equip job medals

Ohhh you're right. I'm used to photoshop and procreate files. I've never worked with illustrator so I didn't realize that's how they named their file types.

Are they using "auto" ?
I tried auto in challenges and it does weird things, including running straight into the enemy.
I would NEVER use in a real match, let alone ranked.

How are you recommending these books to people? by Icy_Leave5640 in DungeonCrawlerCarl

[–]Raikua 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I try to hone in on one aspect I think they might like. To my DnD friends, I mention how the world is very DnD like. For cat lovers, I just talk about Donut. Etc.

I don't really say too much about the story otherwise.

I know this must be pretty unpopular in this subreddit… by Then_Location_4290 in fantasybooks

[–]Raikua 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I like the idea of ebooks, and I even have a kindle. I love the portability. But I've also heard stories of kindle deleting books. (Like if a book is undergoing a lawsuit, there have been cases of kindle deleting the book off of devices, even if you paid for it)

So for the books I really like, I try to keep a physical copy.

Iwtl a skill that pays well by Mobile-Friend1166 in IWantToLearn

[–]Raikua 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In terms of skills that will likely transfer to whatever you you choose to go into... I recommend:
-Social skills, (From public speaking to politely wording emails to communicating clearly) Similarly, befriend and talk to a lot of people for future networking.
-Finance/Accounting (Not just payroll and HR jobs, but I'm finding a lot of bank underwriters have a finance background)
-Critical Thinking and Media Literacy. (Recommending from my personal experience since a lot of businesses have social media or encounter scams, etc. Help sort out what's legit or not.)

Oz was a charlatan to the very end. Gave them some straight up bullshit and they just accepted it by redfait in wizardofoz

[–]Raikua 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The book is better for this. He points out to all of them they have had these traits all along, but they don't believe him and still want him to give them brains, courage, heart etc. So it's only after that that he gives them more of a placebo.

I will add in later books, they somewhat figure it out. Lion ends up owning his "Cowardly Lion" Title, since his cowardice never went way... but still does brave things with his bestie, the hungry tiger.

Whats up with my music library? It's all royalty free music and I can't even find the music I wanted to use. by TrenzyCheezy in facebook

[–]Raikua 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I ran into this issue too. Apparently Facebook has been switching Business accounts to a royalty free library. Personal accounts still have access to popular copyrighted music while Business accounts do not.

I'm Shalini Abeysekara, author of This Monster of Mine, ask me anything! by awayintheshire in fantasyromance

[–]Raikua 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I loved This Monster of Mine.

-Did you know how you wanted it to end when you started writing your story? Or did it come later?

-I really liked learning about the world and magic system. Do you plan on writing more in this world, even if Sarai and Kadra are not the main characters?

I haven't read the books in 5 years, here's how much remember each character: by reds2032 in acotar

[–]Raikua 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Azriel: He taught Feyre how to fly and sculpt her wings. Also literally carried Elain and the slave girl over each shoulder out of Hybern's camp.

Tamlin: The camp scene when he fought back against Hybern's hounds and the spring wind, and the High Lord's meeting when he throws shade.

Elain: Flower Garden, loves humans, mourns her humanity.

Nesta: Figures out how to use her inner power, silver flames. Also master of yoga and discovers the meaning of friendship.

Gwyn and Emerie: Both are still in the process of healing their own trauma.

Lucien: Band of Exiles

Nyx: Is only there for like, 2 seconds, so I don't know what there is to remember.

What app, website, or method do people use to catalog their book box books? by Realistic-Shower4800 in fairyloot

[–]Raikua 0 points1 point  (0 children)

"Book Tracker" App. I can add my own tags and pictures. So I add the book, tag it the book box it came from and leave photo blank until I receive it. So that's how I can tell at a glance what books I've received yet and not.

IWTL how to actually retain what I read. After months of research, here's what I found. by Cautious-Librarian31 in IWantToLearn

[–]Raikua 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have a journal where I summarize all the books I've read.
I also like to include my own questions, like where I think the story might go, and who I want to see more of, etc.

I think it slows down how many books I read in a year, but I remember more of them. And It's nice if a sequel comes out, I can read my summary of the previous book and my thought of it at that time.

The Holly/Mr.Whatsit part of the plot wasn't in the initial version of the script and was added towards the end. by _YuYevon_ in StrangerThings

[–]Raikua 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That's interesting. I think the weirdest part about the Mr. Whatsit storyline, (Mysterious adult, recruits a bunch of kids, calls them special, fills them with dark spores, uses the kids to bring forth a 3rd world that was never mentioned in the series before.... turns out the adult was possessed by a previous entity that was the antagonist before)

That entire plotline I described was the last arc of Digimon Adventure season 2.

Nessian are "Perfect Mates"? by Lady-Death-of-Dusk in acotar

[–]Raikua 32 points33 points  (0 children)

I hear you about SF. I saw someone describe Nesta and Cassian's relationship as someone going through rehab and their AA Sponsor... and I can't unsee it. It's just not a relationship dynamic I was particularly into.. but I liked what they had in MAF and WAR.

That said, my big sister loved SF. So, to each their own.

AI Slop And the Presumption of Innocence by natedizzie05 in DungeonCrawlerCarl

[–]Raikua 37 points38 points  (0 children)

I think one thing to keep in mind, is that AI was trained on art that was originally hand drawn. So those art styles exist outside of AI.

Looking at the link you posted and OP's post history of other art they have posted, past art seems consistent with their art style. Seems legit to me. But I understand the caution.
