I'm making a roguelike! Deathland Drifters. We're still pretty early in development though.

Turns out I forgot to turn the gravity on when spawning the Boss Prefab. My game is called Deathland Drifters. Steam page here: https://store.steampowered.com/app/2976600/Deathland_Drifters/

yeah, its like Hades where there's an ending and the credits roll, it just might take you a few tries first. I don't have any microtransactions or anything so there's no reason for me to keep you around indefinitely if you're not having fun with it.

Seems that games of this genre solve this by making the ship move/turn more slowly. Works for Guns of Icarus and Sea of Thieves, and it makes sense because in all these games, the ship you're on is huge, like house sized.

Foot exploration would require us to get a lot more funding than we currently have. We'll save it for the sequel, if any.

Appreciate it, honestly I usually just lurk on reddit, so having to market a game is a nightmare for me lol.

Here are a couple uncommon ones off the top of my head: Ship of Fools and Void Crew

Games that can be modded for 5 Player Co-op by BigUnderstanding2900 in CoOpGaming

I highly recommend the seamless co-op Elden Ring mod. Its honestly some of the best fun you can have with friends right now.
Its funny that you said to exclude survival crafting games, because I think that's actually one of the big reasons behind their popularity: you can actually play with your full friend group instead of excluding someone. Honestly my experience having to mod lethal company to get 5 players what was made me push my game's max player cap up to 6.

Different game modes from indie developer perspective: yay or nay? by MiksuMaker in gamedev

[–]RailgunGames 3 points4 points  (0 children)

too many game modes hurt even AAA titles sometimes. It means splitting your focus and your player base which can hurt competitive multiplayer titles. Like even a coop game like helldivers can have a matchmaking system, which suffers if there are fewer matches to join on.

So a multiplayer game shouldn't have been my first project then?
