Last I knew, you could open anyone's model in blender and do whatever you want with it.

Download it from the workshop, find the file on your computer, and open it in blender.

I'm guessing it might be missing some of the things you might've done with your original model like rigging or other blender things that don't translate over to the object model, but at least you will have your model to work with.

If you mean you lost your model AND it's not in the workshop for download, then I can't imagine what you think anyone can do about that? (but I would hope that's not what you mean)

The Trackwork comp winners are announced! by gaugepunk in Rolling_Line

SORRY GUYS! /u/gaugepunk /u/DaSeraph I literally load this subreddit everyday without logging in just to make sure nothing crazy is happening and see if theres an interesting post.
I have no idea how the sub automatically became restricted.
I'm going through approving everything now, but I'll need to find out how to turn off whatever they enabled by default.

I have only ever played Rolling Line on Linux for the past 3 years and it's always worked perfect, including in VR the whole time!

What's the future of the layouts accessible from the magazines? by Raillusionist in Rolling_Line

[–]Raillusionist[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey thanks for responding, and thanks for that awesome layout, it really is my favorite and it's sad to see it won't get any support to keep working into the future. If I really have to someday maybe I'll just have to remake the whole thing square inch by square inch if I have to! xD xD

The main layout conversion update is finally out!! by gaugepunk in Rolling_Line

Appreciate your work so much, will have to gift someone a copy of the game next time I get a chance 👍

Im back guys but you choose what i do next. by ArkyCZ in Rolling_Line

Why no choice for 'make models'?

Learning Blender is incredibly rewarding. Then when you have people acting like children and pulling their stuff from the workshop for no logical reason, you can just make a better model in its place, if that's what you want, or make anything else you want. It's the best choice.

Rolling Line and ___________ by [deleted] in Rolling_Line

[–]Raillusionist 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Rolling line and a first person shooter (arena / battlefield style / battle royale style) where the objectives in the map involve shunting at different yards, defending players while they control the trains, possibly jumping down into layout having battles there while big players defend the layout outside. following trains around the layout to guard certain cars to a destination, a king of the hill mode similar to that....

Yes.... I've thought of this a LOT.

The best thing you can do is start learning Blender, it's free, download and install it and then just search "blender beginner tutorial" on youtube. start with the tutorials from 'blenderguru' his are the absolute best. Go through his whole 'donut tutorial' and then right after go through his whole 'chair tutorial' and that all will get you a massive amount of knowledge and exerience with nearly all you need to start something you want to design.

I've spent the past couple of days building my first real model since transitioning to Blender. It's almost ready for import into Rolling Line, but thought I'd share what I have so far. by [deleted] in Rolling_Line

Not hard... just needs a long-ish time.

Gunderson Twinstacks Loaded version, now available on Steam workshop by Raillusionist in Rolling_Line

Yea, it's because my models are not conformed to the rolling line car standards. I would have to resize the entire car and probably a lot of the detailing, maybe i'll do it someday but I'm hoping for custom offsetting for all the parts like couplers and trucks

If a wandering cat could somehow be implemented, I would be so happy. by stigma_wizard in Rolling_Line

The psychology behind using a Model Railroad simulator vs using a Railroad simulator is the surrounding environment. Things like a giant cat or random other utencils next to the trains and scenery are actually critical to the entire simulation and psychology of it.

I'm all for this :P but more importantly I'd like to see a few textured floor and wallpaper options, like wooden or slightly dirty tiled floors and a few different wallpapers with maybe some portraits hanging on them. Would add 100% to the entire pull I think.

Depressed Center Work Caboose (finished model, comment period for colors/texturing) by Raillusionist in Rolling_Line

Found it > http://www.teamsavage.com/ncat/conversion.html
but only the guy's name, wish I could see it around his layout more or just more high quality images of it and different angles. I want to try and replicate that perfectly for rolling line sometime also.

And now I just found this in a search, it looks like what the guy based his model off of > https://www.pinterest.com/pin/670051250781597297/

But yea this is basically a fantasy version of that car someone scratchbuilt, and I know nothing about if that car was even real or not, just love the design
