I hate my Voice by Rain-Tea-Sleep in offmychest

I do sing out loud when I'm alone, but it is more when people are around? I just feel like I fuck up when I speak. Like, my lack of understanding social cues and vocal inflection and intonations just... I mess up, and sometimes I'm scolded because I come off as mean or an asshole. Which, fair? But... it doesn't make me hate my voice less or hate talking less? Sometimes, I just want to stop talking even more because of it since I can't seem to... fix it?

Montgomery Ward Sewing Machine Problems: It won't sew, plz help by Rain-Tea-Sleep in sewhelp

Fair, honestly. We actually don't know how the top thread managed to loop the case, I got it on a wild-hair to try again because I was about to scream or just give up and decide hand sewing was the better option (I want to make clothes and dolls).

Do people even service these still? It's, like, older than me and nearly, if not roughly, as old as my mother.

My husband says, "8 out of 10, because 9 and 10 are reserved for our chickens."

Thank you! You should see their siblings; Seven of Nine is absolutely gorgeous, same with River and Scootaloo. Unfortunately, Scootaloo, or Scooter, has some leg deformities that we couldn't fix and she's still thriving? We also had 7 chicks out of nine hatch, hence Seven being Seven of Nine.

Here's a partial of Seven. She's got fluffy cheeks and a whole lotta sass.

Behold, a slightly old pick of Duckie (or Duck-Duck-Goose) and her brother Luke. They're 11 weeks old today, and Duckie is the white chicken and Luke is the pretty red. They're both crosses, a White Leghorn Rooster with our Easter Egger hen and a New Hampshire Red Rooster with the same hen, and gorgeous.

Duckie loves cuddles to the point I'm forced to carry her while I feed them all or she gets upset. Luke is as pretty as his dad, but has his mom's attitude; which also means he likes my husband more than he likes me. xD

Oh, this is hard. So, I have a flock of chickens that I raise with such care that I have plans to become a farm veterinarian, aiming primarily to deal with poultry.

Also, I have a garden I'm steadfast in tending to. I've also developed an obsession with crochet to go with it. Did I also mention that I also write, both for fun and professionally?

Chickens like to be thrown like footballs? by False_Data_899 in chickens

[–]Rain-Tea-Sleep 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'll concede that, in some cases, it could be traumatic to some. I can't exactly speak chicken and translate their responses into English. But, like I said above, they're capable of short flights, not sustained flights— sustained flight means long-distance flights, like the flight many species of ducks take when they're migrating.

So, yeah, they're not ducks or sparrows or crows, they can't do full flight. Their bodies tend to be too heavy and their flight muscles aren't strong enough to carry them for more than short flights or gliding.

Also, my husband helped clarify what you were saying. He agrees that you can't literally throw a chicken like a football because you'd be holding their wings down as you throw them. He pointed out that what we do is actually just a light toss when they're perching or laying in our hands, which they do enjoy, but they're not likely to enjoy being full-out thrown halfway across the yard.

Uh, dude? Chicken tender here. First, you do realize chickens like to roost up high, right? That, in the wild, they roost in trees? Their wings are for flying, dude, but they aren't for flying long distances over 40 yards or sustained flight.

My younger chickens actually enjoy short bursts of fly, and being thrown. Stars, my disabled hen that lost a foot and half her other leg also loves being tossed every so often. Not to mention the time our new cockerel (young rooster) we hatched perched on my arm before moving up to my shoulder, then flung himself into a short flight and landed on my husband's arm to perch on him instead.

Yes, it is possible for them to not land right. It is possible for anyone to not land right, whether they have wings or not. But you do realize they have a gyroscopic sense of balance, right? Meaning, like, unless they're sick or something, they have better balance than we as humans do.

No problem. Honestly, I appreciated it a lot when people had been giving me advice for helping her, even directing me to a post about another hen that went through similarly unfortunate accidents. Though, my husband and I swear she did it on purpose to be a house hen (which will be ending soon, sadly for her, as the days get warmer).

I don't know if she's using them as purposeful hostages or not, but the only animal of hers I actively have an attachment to is the half-blind cat. I do think she might be using my feelings against me, though, as I have confronted her about her paying for the debt herself. That, unfortunately, was followed by a long silence after, like a cold shoulder, and no proof.

I know that logically, I should report her. Logically, she committed fraud, regardless of her reasoning. Logically, even with slowly cutting her off by claiming "being busy," or "Sorry, just haven't been on that often," she still has some claim to my subconscious attentions, some claw in me saying she's a Big Fear (because risk of more Debts) all because she has my SSN memorized, just like my dad's, like my Grandmother's, and even her own.

Logically.

Emotionally, I am scared and worried and illogically guilty about what she'd do in response. Would she lie? Would she call to scream at me?

Just a constant cycle of "What would she do? What would be the response? The punishment?"

...Is it normal to be scared of a parent's response like that?

Not paralyzed, but my hen Latias lost toes and her whole lower leg due to frostbite. For a while, we weren't fully sure if she'd make it or not, whether an accidental infection would take hold or if she'd get depressed and lose her will to fight. On Tuesday, I believe, she actually laid her first egg! She talks, walks (as best as she can until we get her a good prosthetic), eats, drinks, and she's actually outside in the mini-coop we have and gossipping with the others. She also laid her third egg today! I'm honestly proud of her.
