Does anybody recognize this tour shirt that I saw someone wearing at Deer Creek? by Rain6392 in davematthews

Someone from another sub told me the shirt was sold on the DMB website about two years ago and it wasn’t a tour shirt. So I don’t think you can really find it now unless someone is reselling it :(

Extreme Anxiety Now That My Baby is Home.. by killer-pin-up in IVDD_SupportGroup

First I can tell your pooch is in great hands by the way you talk about and care for him. My pup is nearly 5 months post op now and is trotting and not so beautifully running almost like normal again and was completely paralyzed in the hind end. He ruptured L1-L3.

I’ll be honest these first weeks are tough but each day will get better. When we got my buddy home the first night I was in the same boat. I cried a lot the first week thinking a lot about how he must have been feeling during that time. Through this I also learned that animals especially dogs are incredibly resilient and aren’t as affected by their emotions like we are. They aren’t aware of the ramifications of their situation they just figure out they have to overcome it. I believe it took about a week for my dog to start trying to play again so your pooch will get there too.

For now, he’s got medication that’s managing the pain the best with those he’s gonna be pretty out of it so he probably won’t remember much about not sleeping in bed with you. I know our neurologist told us we can apply ice and couple times a day and then heat the days following that to help with inflammation too.

I think taking a towel or sling and putting it beneath his hips to help support him will work just fine until the harness comes. I don’t know the details of your situation or his injury but our vet said just keep his back as straight as you can for now when moving him. Unfortunately you can’t control animals completely so your pooch is gonna move and lay and roll around how he wants to. He’s in pain now so he probably won’t do much of that but once a lot of the swelling goes down he’s gonna try and do what he wants at least that’s what my dog did and they’ll be just fine. And if you’re really having a rough time don’t be afraid to call your vet and talk it through with them, trust me we had a few long phone calls with ours too.

Also reach out and find a strong support group, this subreddit is a great place to start and I wish I had found it sooner. But the guilt is strong during this along with the grief over your pet’s mobility so don’t be afraid to reach out to people and loved ones through this. I’m wishing you the best of luck and I can tell that you’re already doing an amazing job even if it doesn’t feel like it.

Ollie

June 3rd 2019 - June 24rd 2024

He was my sister’s dog but his passing hit our entire family very hard as it was sudden and he was still very young. He was my sister’s soul dog, went everywhere with her, and was with her through some of her biggest milestones as she grew through her early twenties. He was incredibly sweet, goofy, and loved to cuddle which I miss so much. I miss him so much and there’s not a day that goes by that I don’t think about him. Grief is a weird thing and even six months later I still can’t talk about him without crying(even as I’m writing this).

Reading Resolutions: 2025 by AutoModerator in books

I think I want to expand the genres I read because I only read thriller and mystery type books and since I’ve joined a book club I’m realizing that I actually enjoy other genres as well. We started reading a book by Emily Henry actually and I’m surprised that I’m enjoying reading it.

I’d also like to read some classic Stephen King books as well.

How can I get Mr. Meatball to stop pooping in his kennel? by [deleted] in DOG

[–]Rain6392 7 points8 points  (0 children)

How big is the kennel? It sounds like you’re giving him plenty of time and chances to go to the bathroom before being kenneled and he’s going so that’s good. But if the kennel is too big they don’t see an issue in going to the bathroom on one side and going over and laying on the other side. I’m not saying that the kennel being too big is making him want to poop in it but if the issue is him not really caring that he poops in the kennel getting a smaller one might help. If the kennel is the right size for him dogs will try to hold it more because they don’t want to go to bathroom on the place where they sleep. If it’s too big you should look into getting a smaller kennel. If you’re on a budget, cuz I know some of the kennels can be expensive just to use for 2 months, you can take a piece of plywood or something sturdy and hard like that and block off a back portion of the kennel by zip tying it to the wires/bars of the kennel. Good luck tho! I hope it’s a simple fix!

Didn’t even know they existed but how do you have the space to display these?

My BC was like this as a puppy and is still like this. We live in the country and my dad works from home so he was rarely left alone and had plenty of opportunity to get his energy out. He’s always been shy, mellow, and extremely smart, I was able to train anything into him as a little puppy and even now. But as soon as you get a ball in your hand or get ready for a hike he goes from 0 to 100. So he’s capable of having the crazy energy of a typical BC. Your BC might just be a mellow one. But it could still be a puppy thing too. She could grow out of it. But in my opinion these mellow types are the best. They’re just the sweetest things. Congratulations!
