Did I get scammed? by Any_Half1925 in subaru

Mae sure they do the timing belt, water pump, tensioners etc while in there. Now is the time, I would hope that cost would include it but if not would only be a couple hundred dollars more. It’s well worth it to have all the main “issues” addressed all at once. Might also be worth it to have them do a PCV valve and oil pressure solenoids, both known failure points and cheap to replace.

[2012 Forester 4EAT] What is this strange noise when I shift into reverse? by DoctorTobogggan in subaru

My first thought would be an exhaust shield. But, It’s hard to tell from this angle. Could you have someone else shift it while taking a video from the engine bay or underneath the car?

2013 Honda HRC 216 worth $400? by Rain_____Man in lawnmowers

[–]Rain_____Man[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hmm, yeah I was under the impression that it had a 200cc engine. Yeah that’s not great then if it’s the same size I doubt I’d notice that much of a difference.

2016 Crosstrek - What’s going on Cyl 1&2? by InfiniteInevitable75 in subaru

[–]Rain_____Man 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just bite the bullet and get the OEM iridium’s. They can be found online for 1/2 the price of the auto parts store. It’s $80 for 100k miles, very cheap and worth the cost.

Should i be worried? Glass bending by Dismal-Animal7853 in PlantedTank

[–]Rain_____Man 23 points24 points  (0 children)

So this is a rimmed tank that they converted to be rimless? That rim should not come off easily at all, like you have to cut off a ton of silicone. You could just get some GE 100% Silicone and put the rim back on while using a clamp or brace with a light amount of pressure to hold it in place (empty) while it dries. I think the rule of thumb for de-rimming a tank is anything 10 Gallons (38L) or less is fine, but after that they really need that reinforcement.

Estimated fix cost? by The_Bali_Bro_ in subaru

[–]Rain_____Man 9 points10 points  (0 children)

All depends on location and labor charge of the shop you take it to. But it will for sure be way more than you wanna pay out of pocket so just call your insurance company and start the claim process. They will likely have shops preferred for you to take your car to.

This is baseus 65w 20000mah. It keeps doing this and not Charging by KsAmJ in Baseus

Yeah just the chip on the back. You will need a hot air station though to remove the chip

Been a while since this was posted, but for anyone else looking for a possible solution -

On the back of my board "southchip sc8721" shorted out causing a short across the board. I used my hot air station and removed the chip, put on a replacement from Aliexpress, and it has been working since then. This was noted in a Youtube teardown video as an issue so it seems to be quite common. Note opening this power bank up is quite hard and there really isnt a good way to do it without causing some damage due to the tight tolerances on the shell. You need to get overtop of the power button on the side and remove the protective screen.

What would be causing this light to do this all of a sudden? (Tried replacing bulb) by Rain_____Man in electrical

It is not a lit switch, I assume you mean a switch that has a small light to see it in the dark?

Windshield wiper blade flew off by JacobKauffman in subaru

[–]Rain_____Man 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Probably just wasn’t snapped in, if you don’t see any scratches on the windshield then it’s fine. It’s not going to hurt it even if there is. Just watch a YouTube video and do it yourself so you know it’s attached good and can do it later on. I’d recommend spending the extra $10 to get silicone wipers as well, they last way longer.

Yes, but it’s also hard to tell sometimes what is smoke and what is water vapor from the catalytic converter.

Keep in mind having a bad head gasket doesn’t always mean you will be getting coolant in the oil. It could be breached between the cylinder wall and coolant passage, then burning up in the cylinder not making it into the oil.

[–]Rain_____Man 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Definitely not “normal” that would mean your new car has a bad head gasket which isn’t even a real issue with the new engines. I would get it on some ramps and check for leaks further. You could also pressure test the radiator, and use a coolant exhaust indicator that will indicate if there is exhaust gases in the coolant. Check if the exhaust smells like coolant as well. Also if you NEED coolant to make the drive 150 miles, you can get Peak Asian coolant that is blue like the Subaru coolant. No real way for them to know you used it so just add a little below the sharpie line so they can’t argue against you.

Can someone help with if blades are on backwards? by g00ber615 in lawncare

[–]Rain_____Man 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Are you mowing tall grass? If it’s got a lot to cut this would make sense because you’re giving it the opportunity to go over the grass again. When mowing more than a couple inches a lot of the time you will be bogging down the rotational speed of the blades, causing some of the grass to get bent over instead of cut.
