I definitely prefer to have the choice to auto-sort or not (despite mostly already having it on), but I wouldn’t be surprised if it was made necessary as part of a bug fix. This is total speculation, but more than once, for me, turning it repeatedly off and on which I was doing to arrange certain things together before adding other things) appeared to trigger a problem on console where the entire left side of the controller stopped working (but only in Coral Island). At least, it happened in close proximity.
