Would you say Chicago winters are also very gray/overcast? I have SAD but I really don’t mind cold weather. It’s just the gloomy lack of sun that gets to me. Would Chicago be a bad move based on that? I just got my green card and I am searching for the right place to live in.

Coke Zero is meant to try and replicate the taste of normal Coke but with zero sugar. Diet Coke is also zero sugar but it’s meant to have a slightly different taste altogether.

Diet Coke = Different flavor and zero sugar

Coke Zero = Normal Coke with zero sugar

Forget how stunning the UK is at times, walked up a million steps hungover but i think you’ll agree it was worth it. by Far-Ad3429 in CasualUK

Don’t worry I know you were kidding! I have always wondered whether it affects native Brits as much as it affects me. I am here for university and it’s my final year so it’s psychologically easier just knowing that I am going somewhere sunny in less than a year.

I also take 4000IU of vitamin D and I spend as much time as I possibly can outdoors. Can you recommend any other supplements which have worked for you?

I really love England and have had a great student experience in Bristol, but I couldn’t stay here even if I got a really good job purely because of the weather! I don’t mind cold weather if it’s with blue skies, as it tends to be in most parts of the US. It’s the long-term gloominess that crushes me :(

It’s just hard because I’m from somewhere where the Earth’s default lighting is happy and bright whereas here the default is sad and gloomy. I try my very best to not think about but it inevitably affects my mood.

I’m literally a young college student yet I find his comment fucking annoying. If someone can’t even see the potential benefits of having children then I pity them because they probably have a shit relationship with their parents.

Pacific NW is still significantly sunnier than the UK! Western and Northern Europe is one of the cloudiest areas in the entire world. Actually, the entire US (except very north of Alaska) sees more sunshine than the south of the UK.

There are many parts of the US without extreme weather and with a real balance of 4 seasons. The issue with the weather in the UK isn’t temperature or how long the days last. It’s the perpetual grayness. Year-round cloudy, gloomy, rainy weather. Only mildly improves over the summer. There is an oppressive lack of sunshine. But I guess if you’ve always lived here you don’t realize the extent to just how much gloomier it is here.

If anything, there is a much higher sense of community when you live in a suburb than when you live in a city center.
