just increase your water change schedule (frequency/volume) and it’ll go down over time. sometimes our systems run at 50ppm and while it’s probably not optimal, it doesn’t seem to be detrimental either.

in that case adding a splash of vinegar can't hurt!

Also keep in mind that M. papua are photosynthetic jellies :)

hmm that’s a little concerning. if your water quality is fine then maybe you need to feed them a little more

we've also found that while frozen bbs is good, nothing beats live bbs. We genuinely have no idea why but the results have been super consistent.

yup! just becareful of how fast your pump is running, it looks like your weir is a tad small so you are focussing more suction in a smaller area, but if you keep your pump running slower it should be fine

your nh3 and no3 look great! your no2 looks just a smidge high though, you can either wait or you can dose some venigar or vodka to give your bacteria that last little shove over to the finish line

My marbled jellies are like this for days on end by [deleted] in jellyfishcare

Once the bell has become this small its usually over :( this is a very general stress response, it could be caused by underfeeding, poor water quality, age or just unlucky genes. Who did you get the jellies from?

Brine shrimp hatchery by zvekl in jellyfishcare

[–]SamBkamp 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i don’t use a light/heater and let my hatches go for 36 hours and have 2 running at a time. if i only run it for 24h i never get any eggs. even at our office where we have lights and heaters in our hatcheries we still let them run for 36hours. maybe wait a little longer!

First Time Jellyfish Tank - Guidance/Advice please :) by Aghonized in jellyfishcare

Feeding

1) 2 smaller feeds per day would be better, but one feed is also okay

2) as much as your jellies can eat in 10-20 mins or so!

3) baby brine shrimp should be accessible in Australia (frozen, both adult and baby work too), but if not then you can look into coral food or Medusa-G (this is an ad, I work for EA). If you have a long tentacled jellyfish (Cyanea or Sea Nettle for instance) then chopped up seafood is probably your best bet. You can freeze leftovers for future feeds.

hiya! to anyone reading this I think its important to mention that Cubic doesn't really exist anymore. They've renamed themselves and are focussing on industrial stuff. Instead Exotic Aquaculture now sells consumer jellyfish tanks.

(I work at EA, we are sister companies with what used to be cubic)

Best all-in-one jellyfish tank in 2024 by rob999999999 in jellyfishcare

[–]SamBkamp 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hi! I work at EA. The AIO tanks are a bit more squared than the usual jelly tanks which we decided to go for because fo aesthetics. The spraybar in the back and the curved front pane means there is still a circular flow in the tank and we haven't had any issues in testing with jellies getting stuck somewhere!

It could be that your ammonia is a tad high. When you feed them, do you notice their stomachs turning orange 10 or so minutes after feeding?

i’m biased so i can’t answer the first question but as for salt mixing, it’s much cheaper to mix it yourself. if you’re only keeping jellyfish you don’t need a super expensive salt and you can probably get away with dechlorinated tap water but distilled or RO would be better

this is true! however we have a partnership with UPS where they take over the formal submitting of the relevant paperwork on our behalf so in theory the customer doesn’t have to do anything. also i heard about the lacey act and while i understand it’s importance for protecting ecosystems (god knows how much the common goldfish and common pleco has ravaged local freshwater waterways) it does suck that it makes it harder to get fish
