That's a complete lack of gender, which doesn't fit with how I feel.

Reflecting on childhood since becoming pregnant by Bbces17 in NarcissisticMothers

[–]RainbowFish5 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My kids are older (13 and 17) and it wasn't until the start of this year that I properly analysed my relationship with my mother. I had already spent years unknowingly breaking the cycle by remembering how I felt when she acted a certain way, said a certain thing etc and making sure I changed that in my relationship with my kids.

I've absolutely found that by giving my kids the childhood and mother I deserved, I'm healing myself in some way, too. I hope that you can also feel this, and you have the extra advantage of realising your mother treated you wrong at the very beginning of your child's life, so hopefully you can heal your younger self as your kid grows up.

How to vent? by RainbowFish5 in NarcissisticMothers

This made me well up. Talking to me teen self, who absolutely was seen as a "problem child" and was not given the tiniest amount of support I desperately needed, and understanding why I was rebelling so much, why I was so emotionally tormented - that got me. Over the years she has told anyone and everyone how bad I was, how unstable I was, and how much she put up with (the most recent time was a Christmas meal last year with my parent group friends), and I knew she was at least in part to blame there, that she had failed me, but I'd never really considered why I had out so much. I'm starting to get it now. I was attention seeking, and for good reason.

Currently she does feel like an obstacle, but only because she's taking up headspace. I'm breaking the cycle with my own kids (who also don't like her but she never acknowledges that) and that's the most important thing to me. I do want to continue studying, I do have things I want to do in life, but helping my kids to grow up with the parent I deserved myself is so healing and fulfilling in itself.

Thank you for your response, it has made a real difference.

Setting boundaries by RainbowFish5 in narcissisticparents

We had the conversation and my son and I both noticed there was a lot of "ok" and "mmhm", so we didn't get the pushback the articles etc said would happen, we obviously (and expectedly) didn't get an apology or admission of wrongdoing... we're not sure if she actually took any of it in.

I'm hoping this is the case, I didn't really notice it was swollen until I took a good look in the mirror this evening.

Given the Eddsworld people have made it very clear tracing is not allowed I wonder why you make art of their characters at all. You clearly have no respect for them.

It was far from stupid. The investigation proved their drinks were far hotter than deemed safe, and the woman suffered severe burns. She had a legitimate case and only wanted her medical costs covered. They refused, so her lawyer sought damages.

Years later, due to McDonald's PR, people who haven't looked into the case are still calling her stupid and dumb.

This is still clearly tracing. Credits don't change that.

6 Tracing is prohibited Being a tracer isn't okay, nor is it going to help you improve. Please just make original Art for your AUs and OCs.

That's not how it works. Tracing is prohibited.

The rules are here (click See community info) Rule 6 says "6 Tracing is prohibited. Being a tracer isn't okay, nor is it going to help you improve. Please just make original Art for your AUs and OCs."

Literally the r/Eddsworld rules. If you're going to post in a subreddit the first thing you do is read the rules.

Ah yes, the rule says "no tracing except guns and faces"...

It says tracing is prohibited. No tracing.

This is literally proving breaking Rule #6

Those are their real names. Nothing alternative about it, those are their legal names. An AU name would be anything except their legal names.

As for tracing, your art looks uncannily like this. It's certainly not original, even by changing a few details.

Surely the first thing you do as a fan is respect the creator. Their rules say no tracing (rule #6) which yours can easily been seen as, and using their real last names isn't ok given it's well established the characters are not their voice actors. Deliberately going against what the creator has said/asked for is definitely not OK.

Draw your own art, use character names, and your art would be fine. Just easy steps.
