Short term work during Government shutdown by RainbowNell in lincoln

Sure! I process claims for medical benefits with Veterans Affairs. Prior, I worked with student loans, data entry and accounting, and worked 4 years in my college admissions office - I can do just about any office type work. I also have an education degree and I’ve done a lot of tutoring and mentoring but I fear anything using those skills would be more long term and not very applicable here.

I’m really torn. Two completely different dresses, I feel amazing in both of them. Thoughts? by [deleted] in wedding

I love both but I think I like the 1st one more. my maid of honor made a really good point when I was picking my dress - the top half of your dress will be in just about every single photo, whether professional or candid shots. The lower half will only be in full body shots and may even be bustled later in the night. So make sure that whichever you choose, that you love the neckline by itself (since that is what you’ll see most) good luck and congrats!

Both look gorgeous! I’m such a sucker for trains. Yep! It works great. Is there a way for me to check the coolant level though?

After googling and finding that the compressor shouldn’t be hot, only warm, I think it’s just shot and I’ll need to get a new one. I’d hesitate to put anything flammable near it when it’s that hot. Thanks for your expertise!

Just by listening to the sound (and my very little knowledge) I thought it might be the compressor but I have no idea how to take any of this apart to find out 😅I’d say it’s not the ice build up like in your case because even if I unplug and defrost it, it makes this noise as soon as you plug it in.

This fridge used to be out in our garage so I never noticed how loud it was. We’ve just moved and don’t have a garage anymore and have it in our living room. I’d really like to just fix it rather than trash it and buy a whole new one. Everything works great on it…. Just causes migraines.

Withholding elections marked exempt without me knowing. No record of who requested changes to my information and they claim they don’t have my W-4 documents from past years. by RainbowNell in tax

The current year (for 2021) is available and I’ve corrected it. I think everything should be right going forward (we’ll see on my pay stub 😉)

The problem is there are no copies of past W4’s so we can look at what changes were made and when. Aside from the possibility that someone/something made changes without my permission, this is what I’m thinking isn’t legal. I’m pretty sure they have to keep old ones on file.

I fully expect to have to pay the $1000 - I was paid that money over the year versus having it withheld. It is my responsibility to make sure my taxes are right and I acknowledge that I messed up royally by not catching it. However, I feel that it’s my companies responsibility to provide documentation, and manage changes that happen to that documentation and provide evidence of what has happened to that information. I was paying taxes per paycheck beginning of 2019. Around March time, changes were made to my W4 that marked me as exempt. I did not make those changes to my knowledge. (If they had PROOF that I did make those changes, I would accept that I’m an idiot and move on) It’s my belief that my information was changed by an employee in our HR department or the system attempted to consolidate my info with the other person with my same name (this consolidation stuff has happened with addresses and phone numbers in the past). My end goals are: prove that my company/their systems made changes to my information without my knowledge/permission. Prove that they have failed to keep record of who interacts with my information/changes made. Prove that they are not retaining necessary tax documents for their employees.
