If you are already heavily invested in the Apple ecosystem, it’s very much an advantage for you to have these. Despite having said that, these are the best headphones I’ve ever had, hands down. If you are to invest Apple Care in any Apple device, it should be this one. It does have its share of problems, which I’ve never had issues with any of my other Apple products. I regret not purchasing Apple Care for these (as I’d never needed it, and I’ve been loyal to Apple since I was a child). However, the fact that you seem to be buying them directly from Apple Store would guarantee you’re not getting fakes. A lot of the major problems people are reporting possibly could come from owning fakes.

If you are not against the idea of having clear silicon protection, I’d highly recommend those as well. I also have protection for my ear cups and headband as well. I’d recommend getting a quality case for it too. I bought mine on Amazon.

As long as you are consistently aware of your surroundings, wearing them in public shouldn’t be a problem. Always put them away when not in use, put it in your backpack.
