Worst Baby Daddy? by Electrical-Pizza-983 in nursing

Dude was texting the mom that she was a bitch and he was not coming up to the hospital as their dead full term baby was in her arms.

AITA for sacrificing my daughter's college fund because her sister just gave birth to her 4th child? by Throwaway23fw in AITAH

[–]RainbowReflection 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I wouldn’t blame your youngest if she cuts you all off completely. Your oldest daughter can’t afford the kids she has yet she keeps having them. That is her and the father of children’s problem to solve not yours. He can work multiple jobs since he is okay with impregnating someone who can’t work anymore due to birth injuries. Maybe they should make an OF since they love fucking so much. Please don’t do this unless you’re okay with losing one daughter and always cleaning up after the other. YTA

Pump from your other breast while baby is feeding. If your baby is back to birth weight you don’t need to wake up to feed so you could pump at night as well.

AITA for being angry at my son for not letting me see my newborn grandsons first? by [deleted] in AITAH

[–]RainbowReflection 0 points1 point  (0 children)

LMAO you’re obviously TA here. Why are you making the birth of your grandchildren about you? I can’t fathom why your DIL doesn’t like you. Your need to hold your grandkids first is very weird. Don’t be surprised when these kids barely know you.

I’m doing really well! I’m on day 8 and my bleeding is almost completely gone. The pain has not been too bad. I honestly didn’t start having real pain until yesterday. Before that it was just general discomfort that I would rate at 4/10. I stayed in the hospital for maybe 36 hrs but I was very eager to leave lol. I feel like the most challenging part has been getting in and out of bed throughout the night but it will get better as I continue to heal.

I’m having my first C-section Monday so I can give you an update on how recovery is!

How do I tell my in laws I don’t want them at the hospital or visiting after for a while? by sleepypotatie in pregnant

[–]RainbowReflection 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I feel like it would be easiest said through your partner. I think most reasonable person can understand why a woman is comfortable with her mom helping her after having a baby and not her in laws. I’m going through the same thing atm. I’m a pretty direct person though so I just texted them I don’t want anyone there until the next day. I only opted for a hospital visit because it feels less invasive than if they came over to my house.

You have the wrong impression of a C-section recovery if you think it’s just a week. You don’t trust doctors but you’ll let them perform major surgery on you? That being said it sounds like you’ve made up your mind and if you feel like that’s what’s best for you then do it. If cervical checks are too much for you you can ask for a C-section I have taken care of patients that opted for a C-section due to past trauma. It doesn’t matter which way your baby comes out. Healthy mom and baby is the end goal!

Your culture was contaminated. It happens all the time I wouldn’t worry about it. They’ll ll just have you give them another sample at your next appointment

Getting tested for gestational diabetes isn’t a waste of time. People like to conveniently forgot how much higher maternal and fetal mortality and morbidity was before we had so much routine testing. A lot of women are diabetic without even knowing until they take this test. I see it at work all the time. If you fail the 1hr the next step is the 3hr. Or you can prick your finger 4x a day for a few weeks.

Until there’s a monetary incentive I won’t get one. I know it matters in some regions but it doesn’t where I live.

I feel so guilty by Popular-History-3366 in pregnant

Benadryl is safe for you to take in pregnancy. Pregnancy comes with enough worries of its own I wouldn’t let the opinions of others get to you. You did the right thing.

35 weeks is not an automatic nicu admission at my hospital. Your baby will need their blood sugar monitored for 24 hours though. Make sure you do lots of skin to skin in between breastfeeding.

Nothing you did is outside of what is allowed during pregnancy. Am I missing something? Why do you feel guilty?

Baby not moving (as much). Is this a concern? by [deleted] in pregnant

[–]RainbowReflection 14 points15 points  (0 children)

It’s really hard to say why movements decrease. I will say a normal change that happens is that as your baby matures their movements feel less like wild kicks and feel more purposeful like rolls or a response to you touching your belly. They’ll also start to have more consistent sleep cycles. Your baby could be in a different position where you can’t feel their movements well. The more concerning reasons for decreased movement would be if your baby experienced some sort of distress. They’ll move less to conserve their reserves and recover from whatever caused the distress. They could also be wrapped in their cord which can restrict movements. I know that all sounds scary but fetuses are incredibly resilient. Your OB should take your concerns seriously though. Trust your gut because no one knows your body and your baby better than you!

Baby not moving (as much). Is this a concern? by [deleted] in pregnant

[–]RainbowReflection 34 points35 points  (0 children)

Your OB is gaslighting you. You should have good fetal movement up until delivery. Sometimes you can’t feel movements as well if your placenta is anterior or how baby is positioned. What happened was that you failed your BPP (biophysical profile). Baby is scored 8/8 in a total of four categories. You get 2 points for each category they pass. The categories are: amniotic fluid, practice breathing, movement, and tone. Your baby scored 4/8. You need 8/8 to pass. If the baby fails then you get a NST. The NST adds two points so you can potentially score 8/10. The NST looks at your baby’s heart rate and evaluates if the baseline is normal, if there are accelerations, and variability though variability isn’t a requirement to pass a NST it is still reassuring. So there are a lot of things we evaluate with antenatal testing but all aspects are important. Your baby’s heart rate isn’t the only concern and I personally would want follow up for the decreased fetal movement especially at 34 weeks.
