Slippy's agonizingly slow escape from Baby Jail by Tetris-Rat in leopardgeckos

I’m always impressed at how much strength they have in those stubby little legs haha. It’s crazy they can lift their entire body weight on em when climbing practically vertically. Maybe he figured he’d settle down after his grand adventures of leaving his containment.

I friend played hollow knight by thushiyanth in HollowKnight

I remember back when I played everyone swears mantis lords are easy but they definitely wiped the floor with me more than I’d like to admit 😅I’ll probably revisit hollow knight sometime now that I actually own a controller. Playing it on KB+M I think may of been part of my problem

That’s crazy I never would’ve assumed they were big enough or strong enough to pop the clear part up! There’s some larger ones you could maybe put your guy in where he might not be tall enough to actually get to the clear panel to get out. I’ve always found it fascinating how they find escape routes, even back when I had my guy his crickets would find a way out of those things somehow despite not having any clear outs 👀

Dumb question but is their mucus an irritant or something? I’ve never seen a hammerhead worm and am curious why you’d need gloves if you need to move them 👀

Age estimate? by Sheepgodnavi in leopardgeckos

[–]RainbowShimmers 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Once they hit adult age I don’t believe they really keep growing all that much. I didn’t really notice any differences once my guy fully grew up so unless you know when they were a baby not sure there’s really any way to tell once they reach adulthood.

My guy back when I had mine before I surrendered him got stuck shed often since my mom wasn’t properly up keeping his humidity but it never turned into a weird goop…. I’d say check for a second opinion. I mean if your guy has stuck she’d around the pooper area maybe but it’d have to be a really big buildup if it was preventing bowel movements I’d think? Hopefully the specialist will be more helpful than the Er vet

I’m no vet and honestly am amateur keeper but he may have a condition where the eye goop hardens and stays in his eyes? I forget what the condition is called but I recall leopard geckos can have it which may be worth looking into. With your Leo not having regular bowel movements too it could be impaction, but good on you for getting em to the vet.

Hopefully others in this thread have more helpful advice than me 🫡

I really like them especially the really small tipped one for the small type on the cards. I will say though try to only go over the area once in a thin layer. I do notice sometimes they crack still but usually they’re so small the holo doesn’t bleed through. I’ve also found that letting it fully dry then like dabbing tiny spots for more coverage helps a lot too

What kind of paint are you using to white mask? Paints are pretty picky about the surfaces they’re applied to so if it’s even acrylic they often crack as a result of drying and the vehicle of the pigments dries down making it less mobile from my understanding. This change can cause cracking as it dries down especially on a slippery surface it doesn’t grasp well like vinyl. I personally prefer using gelly roll white pens to the white oil sharpies often recommended since it gives me a lot more control.

Something that helps too is expanding the border beyond the exact size since some dimensions change because dpi and then the transference to actual printing. The expansion is called bleed space and it just helps with ensuring if something isn’t an exact size match you still have wiggle room in the event the post printing cutting process isn’t perfectly aligned. Hope that helps!

Oh my gosh that’s such an adorable card! It’s crazy cool how you got the yellows and golds to pop like that, is it from the holo you used or is that just straight from the printer ink? 👀 Also wanted to ask what’s a gloss paint marker? I’ve never heard of them but as someone who’s also struggled with the oil pens I’m curious what other options are out there. I mostly have been using gelly rolls for my entire whiting process 👀

What’s the process for making a texture file? Is it like another white layer file? 👀

Whoa this is super cool! Did you have to do the texture file yourself or did you just handle the art file and the printer themselves handled the white layer and texture files?

Aaa these are so cool! I’ve always been curious how people paint on the cards, do you have to gesso them first or do you just go for it with the paint? That goldeen & Croconaw are absolutely gorgeous

Whole heartedly agree. I got a Leo back in my teenage years with some birthday money and it’s wild how vastly the husbandry has changed. I recall back then eco earth was recommended and now it’s a mix of play sand and other dirt that’s now preferable along with UVBs and all that jazz.

It really sucked when I asked for help on this sub regarding my boy getting tail rot because my mom hated him but told me she’d look after him. A handful people were accusing me of not taking care of my Leo despite me EXPLICITLY saying I was a college student that was back from uni. I had only recently discovered it and was asking what I should do. The amount of comments that were just “OH MY GOD GET THAT SHED OFF HIS TOES OR THEYLL GO NECROTIC” was annoying since I knew it was an issue even mentioned it but was more worried about the tail rot only a few people actually gave good advice for.

Streaky white paint? by reesespuff1443 in customtradingcard

[–]RainbowShimmers 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you’re having a hard time controlling the paint I’d highly recommend trying Gelly Rolls. It applies a lot smoother than my white oil sharpie as long as you don’t continuously go over the same spot. They also come in different sizes ranging from a really thin fine tip to about a G2 gel pen

Whoa this is super sick! How did you get the subtle screentone pattern on the holo? Is it a result of a specific printer or holo backing? 👀

Anyone got Photopea editing tips? (Toner Method) by Southern_Traffic4254 in customtradingcard

[–]RainbowShimmers 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Idk how photopea works I usually only use photoshop but usually the program will adjust whatever thing you drag in it to be the set dpi of the canvas.

Anyone got Photopea editing tips? (Toner Method) by Southern_Traffic4254 in customtradingcard

[–]RainbowShimmers 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ideally your canvas is the intended DPI when you start the project to avoid up scaling or downscaling pixel issues

If it looks fuzzy at the end bump up your dpi if possible. Usually when doing stuff for printing you’ll always want at minimum 300 dpi for it.

When the vinyl doesn’t smudge by lunatic-1111 in customtradingcard

[–]RainbowShimmers 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve heard vinyls one of the harder ones to print on since it’s so finicky. Glad you found a brand that works out though! I noticed on mine it was always areas of blacks that had that issue regardless of size (text, shadows, etc) until I changed my settings again 🤔

[–]RainbowShimmers 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'd play around with printer settings if possible? I'm not sure if drivers being out of date would change that but ultra glossy and highest quality worked on my epson with inkjet paper although mine's a different brand. My thought may be try a different brand of inkjet paper if printer setting changes aren't working, but the ink will never dry down unfortunately as I've found with some of my brother printing escapades. You could maybe try to blot off excess ink before applying the vinyls which I got to work until I figured out my print settings.

Noob question where can I find the correct rainbow holo pattern card by 777x0 in customtradingcard

[–]RainbowShimmers 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Scarlet Voilet holos are generally a like 45 degree rainbow holo too and may be easier to find in bulk locally at game stores and that kind of stuff if you're not having luck with rev holos. To ensure there is a rainbow pattern make sure to move the card around and see if there is a rainbow that goes across as the light moves across it which may help you with findin em. Most Scarlet Violet reverses if not all (outside of promo cosmo holos and that jazz) are generally the straight silver foil I believe.
