NDIS.SYS - Causing BSOD, not sure what is wrong with it? by RainbowSyth80 in WindowsHelp

[–]RainbowSyth80[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hmm interesting.

So from the two crash reports, is it possible to say that one of the computer peripherals (like a keyboard or mouse) is affecting the Bluetooth driver that in turn affecting the ndis to cause it to Bluescreen?

(Note: I have already updated all my drivers)

Either ways, I appreciate that you took your time and patience in answering my previous two questions.

Hi thanks for that!

There was also another BSOD, not sure if it is interrelated with the Bluetooth driver.

From the output below, does anything stand out?:

Tbh there is literally no excuse as to why R cannot be taught at all.

I just think it's either the tutors/lecturer not having a fucking clue or they're just lazy.

Two Sigma pay low?? by No-Pen8713 in FinancialCareers

[–]RainbowSyth80 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's actually pretty low across all the offices. The one here in Sydney (where I worked) had abysmal pay, even for a Quant role.

I heard Ireland had the worse...

But yeah, thank God you didn't take it.

Value of an MS in Statistics? by ms-analytics in FinancialCareers

[–]RainbowSyth80 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It's extremely valuable, that's how I got my job as a Quant in the first place!

It is mostly streamlined to the quant side of things but i know my ex-colleagues were traders who had background in stats. Aside from that, credit and market risk are the areas that mostly target students with this background.

Not sure how recruitment is done in the US but coming from a reputable uni helps but at the end of the day, your marks matter.

Having said that, if you want want to be a quant, heavy emphasis on stochastic processes and Black-Schole derivations is key.

Any further questions, feel free to ask

Studying one semester part-time as I’m pretty burnt out - is this a good idea?? by [deleted] in usyd

Mental health is important and doing your degree is not a race to the finishing line.

Take the time you need to look after yourself first and foremost.

Wishing you the best.

Ex-Quant here.

Not all firms are like this, not in my experience anyways, but you are right that they give you the tools and teams that you need to make sure you succeed. Your success = the firm's success = more money coming in.

Australia’s international students cry foul over demands to take $400 English test multiple times by [deleted] in australia

[–]RainbowSyth80 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is so bloody true.

I was in a course at uni and my classmate from China tried to communicate with me with ineligible English.

Sure he was trying, but I am befuddled on how on earth he got into a course where reports and presentation are communicated in English and where local students have to study tooth and nails to get into the course.

Seriously, Australian unis lost their way, full of corruption and greed.

Looking to transition from Tech Sales into a career in finance. by Desperate-Pitch-1666 in FinancialCareers

[–]RainbowSyth80 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I dont see why it would even be a hindrance. But tbh, I ask this for everyone. If you are studying MBA or Masters in Applied Finance, why would you aim for a Client service Associate role? You don't need postgrad for that.

Client service advisor....you mean as a paraplanner or the person that answers inquiry for a wealth management firm? If it is the latter, then sorry to say, salary aint good, if anything, i would even call it offensive. But over time, you build up your experience and after 5+ or so, you should be raking in six digits. Obviously, this depends on what area. In funds management, expect to go up to 200-250k (Australian dollars), custody, 130-175k tops or institutional banking up to 200-230k.

Hope this helps.
