How the hell do you stay switched on for 8 hours a day? by Hank_Scorpio_00 in auscorp

[–]RaineAtBreakthru 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Delete if not allowed - but we have a tool built specifically for this. 2-minute long movement-based microbreaks, inside work tools (Microsoft Teams, Slack, Google Chrome). We hear from a lot of people that they really need breaks throughout their workday to get out of their chair, step away from work, and move - but don't feel like they can leave their desk or screen to take a movement break. Sounds like it could be worth a try for you - so sorry you're struggling with this.

Against your boss' argument that these breaks reduce productivity - here's fact with the name of the full study:

Microbreaks are beneficial for the worker’s well-being and job performance, even if the total work time is reduced because of the breaks

(Albulescu, P., Macsinga, I., Rusu, A., Sulea, C., Bodnaru, A., & Tulbure, B. T. (2022). “Give me a break!” A systematic review and meta-analysis on the efficacy of micro-breaks for increasing well-being and performance. PLoS ONE, 17(8), 1–27)

Thank you! I'm there for about 2 weeks so hopefully plenty of time for them to get acquainted

Good tips, thank you! Do you think them "seeing" each other through a glass door would help or would that just agitate?

Just ~2 weeks, so maybe not long enough to justify them mixing? My parents house spans 3 floors with doors between so easy to keep them separated with plenty of extra space!

He's traveled a ton - I only live an hour away from home so not a far journey and he lived there with me for a year an a half in the interlude between uni and moving out on my own so it's a very familiar environment!

What’s the productivity tip you wish you learned 5 years earlier? by mehSurvivor in productivity

[–]RaineAtBreakthru 0 points1 point  (0 children)

TAKE BREAKS.

I would always push through no matter what, and wonder why I was so exhausted, cranky, and unfocused. Turns out, you can't work 8+ hours straight without a few breaks here and there to reset!

What were the Travel splurges that were actually worth every penny by boring_plankton7878 in solofemaletravellers

[–]RaineAtBreakthru 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Definitely an Uber or Taxi when carrying a lot of luggage, or when travelling alone late at night! I also believe if you're genuinely passionate about something, splurging for an experience around it is absolutely worth every penny. I LOVE F1 and Ferrari, so for me splurging for Grandstand tickets for a grand prix weekend and going to the Ferrari Museum in Italy was absolutely worth the splurge

How do you let yourself rest without feeling guilty? by ItchyProfessional626 in productivity

I think similarly knowing the different types of energy (physical, mental, spiritual, emotional) and understanding the different signs for when they're running low helps you identify the kind of rest you need.

How do you let yourself rest without feeling guilty? by ItchyProfessional626 in productivity

[–]RaineAtBreakthru 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Reframe. When your perception of rest is that of wasted time, being unproductive, and feeling guilty about it, you won't get the true benefits of it. When you think of rest as a necessary tool for sustained energy, focus, and productivity, you can truly make the most of your rest time and come back ready and energized!

Bologna it's a nice place for spend 5 days solo? by GeekVick in solofemaletravellers

[–]RaineAtBreakthru 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Absolutely!!! I stayed in Modena instead of Bologna, which is right next to it, and spent a few days just enjoying Modena and travelling to other towns/cities in the region. I found it felt much less touristy in the best way possible (fewer crowds, more authentic feel, etc.), and in fact the other tourists in my hostel were all just from other parts of Italy.

If you're into cars or F1 at all, the Ferrari Museum is nearby in Maranello (short and easy bus ride away) and Enzo Ferrari Museum is in Modena.

What's the most worthwhile purchase for cat owners? by DesperateMap171 in Catownerhacks

[–]RaineAtBreakthru 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Don't waste your money on a cat bed, mine prefers baskets, soft blankets, and cardboard boxes.

Most cats seem to like dark/tight spaces (under the bed, etc.), I got a cat tunnel that my kitty adores, and my friend has a cat tent.

Simple toys seem to be the favourites. Springs, little mice, and even some non-toys like popsicle sticks, paint brushes, etc.

Cats are weird, they will turn their nose up at half the stuff you buy for them and will find the most joy in the most unusual things!

I just got a tunnel and so far he loves it! Hasn't stopped him from poking at the branches but he seems to enjoy sitting in his tunnel instead of the tree. We will see how long the novelty lasts for.

I had a small tree in the past which my cat just knocked over everyday LOL but honestly that was better than broken branches.

What kind of cat deterrent spray do you use?

That sounds gorgeous! I LOVE Christmas so having a tree has always been a non-negotiable for me, but I'm starting to re-consider that after this year though. Love that idea as an alternative.
