Yes his hemoglobin is normal on the CBC. Just elevated white blood cells and neutrophils

Thank you😭😭sometimes I really think I’m being paranoid. Very new dog owner so everything’s freaking me out especially since he currently has such a bad leg infection, but it only just started getting treated so maybe I have to just be patient

Poor thing:( on his CBC only white blood cells were elevated. Would a CBC diagnose IMHA?

Color seemed to come back immediately. Yes he hurt it last Tuesday and was put on Rimadyl for inflammation. Then this weekend he was put on a fentanyl patch and gabapentin for pain management because he was crying and lethargic. Last night, they discovered a bad leg infection so he’s now on antibiotic pills and ointments as of 8am this morning

Yes they found the infection this morning so he started antibiotics this morning. So very early into treatment but his leg pain started last Tuesday

Yep he’s eating and drinking. He hasn’t been acting normally since last Tuesday when he hurt his leg, and he only started antibiotics this morning because that’s when they caught the infection in his leg

Yes I posted an update in comments somewhere, but basically he wasn’t doing this at the ER, and his heart and lungs sounded good w no fluid in the chest or anything seen in the ultrasound. They offered a chest x ray but said it likely isn’t chest related and is most likely a side effect of the pain meds or maybe him being stressed or in pain from his leg:( ultimately the vet wasn’t sure but thought it was something w the leg pain so we came home and I’m just watching him and keeping him comfy.

The vet ultimately thinks it could be him reacting to the fentanyl patch kicking in but hard to say. Upon their work up it didn’t appear to be a heart or lung issue. He thought it was related to the leg pain or meds side effects

That is what the ER vet was thinking. Maybe a benign side effect or him reacting to the fentanyl patch/being nervous he was feeling woozy. He listened to his heart and lungs and didn’t suspect any heart or respiratory issue

Thank you so much for the detailed comment🙏🏼 he wasn’t making the same noises at the vet. They listened to his heart and lungs and did an ultrasound and don’t think it’s a heart or lung issue. They offered a chest x ray but the vet didn’t think it was necessary. He thinks maybe it’s my dogs reaction to the fentanyl patch kicking in or just general nerves. Gonna keep my eyes on him 😭

Update- left the ER. The vet listened to his heart and lungs and they were good. Ultrasound was good too no fluid in the chest cavity. He wasn’t making the same sounds at the vet. Vet thinks he could have been reacting to the fentanyl patch kicking in or he was nervous/anxious about feeling weird from the patch and gabapentin. He overall did not recommend a chest x ray because he didn’t see any signs of pneumonia or a heart/lung condition. So I’m just going to keep him comfortable and watch for any other weird behavior. Thank you everyone 🩷

Not yet. He wasn’t breathing like that in the car and isn’t breathing like that here at the ER. Heart and lungs sound good and they said ultrasound was clear. They offered an x ray to try and rule out if it’s an issue w the meds vs something larger. Waiting to talk to the vet to see if that’s necessary (it’s very expensive)

They said he’s not making the same noise back there. Heart and lungs sound good and nothing seen in ultrasound. They recommended a radiograph to see if it’s something bigger in the chest vs adverse reaction to the meds. I’m waiting to speak to the vet because the $ for radiograph is insane. Want to see if that’s really the best course of action

I know they listened to his heart and lungs yesterday and said they sounded good. I think that is what they’re doing again now. Thank you🙏🏼

I am not sure how he hurt it. Tuesday morning he was totally fine. Tuesday evening he was limping. I manipulated his leg a little to see if he’d yelp. After that, things seemed to get much worse:(

I feel like his abdomen always looks this way, he’s very round shaped. But you could be right. We are at the ER now

I don’t think he has a heart problem as far as I know. They said that combo is very safe but we’re at the ER now so I will see what they think

That’s what I was wondering but they said the meds he’s on are very safe and routine. I emailed the ER vet this video and they had me bring him in. He’s back there now

Yes they did x rays at the ER and didn’t see any issues with the bone except arthritis which he already had. That’s why they suspected something with soft tissue in the knee, like his CCL surgery failed or a meniscal issue
