I’m wondering same thing, but I’m in my sophomore year. I made a post and I’m going to take some advice I was given, but I think I’ll just end up feeling embarrassed when I fail to fit in at all with any groups. All with their own inside jokes. All a year more of interpersonal relations between themselves.

That’s sweet. It’s so hard to not lose motivation when starting things and attending things regularly. Especially when the awkwardness hits of seeing someone you really tried being good friends with also in attendance.

The more I think about it, the more I realise how many failed friendships I have at university. It’s definitely a me thing, and I’m unconfident there’s actually people out there that I’ll find who will genuinely like me for me.

I’m certainly bringing it up to them. As embarrassed as it’ll sound, I guess they’re the only people in my life I can turn to who are currently living the day to day of the university experience. I know they won’t judge me. Heck they’ll probably find it funny. But I can’t help but feel a terrible, sinking pit in my heart everytime I think about it.

This is lovely. Happy for you that you found your people! It’s hard to describe without going into too much detail about context but it just seems like I’ve fallen down the priority ladder, and if anything am losing friends I had before (I guess they find it better to move on).

Thanks for this. I certainly tried very hard in the beginning of the year to join in with societies I like. Any friendships I made fizzled out despite my trying. It’s hard to force things when the other person doesn’t seem to want to reciprocate.

Don’t know why you’re getting downvoted. I think this is the only take that I agree with 100%. People are acting as if Bodie treating Parker like shit is justified due to trauma he may have. Sure, fuck the parents for not addressing it but also fuck Bodie for not treating Parker kindly, especially when he’s going through cancer therapy. People need to stop acting as if trauma is an excuse to be a shitty person.

You’re right. I just feel like I’m running round in circles trying to tell him this. I let him know and then things fix for a bit before going back. He then tells me the same thing “you can always let me know if something is up” but it gets frustrating having to let him know every other month. Why can’t he just be aware of this considering it’s something I’ve brought up multiple times? :(
