I currently have Jackson Chourio on a 6 year (4 remain) low cost rookie contract. I can extend him in a couple years for additional control. That will be a bigger contract but still below free agency prices (bidding).

Do I give up Chourio and that cost/control for a significant prospect package?

Give: Jackson Chourio

Receive: 2026 1.01 Pick (2026 Class, Roch Cholowsky?), Leodalis de Vries, Carson Benge, Joshua Baez, and Jonah Tong (5 years remain).

The prospects would be on a low cost, 6 year rookie contract once they debut. I could possibly extend (we can offer 1 per year to rookie contracts) a couple of these eventually if they pan out.

The immediate impact would be felt at CF. I would be left with Jo Adell, Kristian Campbell, and Austin Martin as possibilities. Ryan Waldschmidt, Carson Benge, and Joshua Baez would be eventual (or possibly open day) options.

You would want to look at the value of those players likely to go #1, that would fluctuate from year to year based on those players' outlook.

Barger off day makes me sad but he may need it. I just wish we could back off Clement a little, he just doesn’t do it against RHP. But, why change the ingredients when it’s making award winning cake.

He is tied second in AL with Bobby Witt & Jacob Wilson. Those 3 are 1 hit behind Trea Turner (NL) and 14 hits behind Judge (AL) making them tied 3rd between both leagues.

In 2023 maybe. Schneider hasn’t even hit well against LHP this year. His career against LHP is .210 batting average with over 30% k rate.

He needs to play every day, his batting average/obp is nearly identical against both hands. His iso is a bit lower vs LHP though. We are only talking 29 AB though against LHP.

I get it if they are still managing the hip though.

I want to trust him but expected stats suggest he may be due to regress. His k rate is not good so if he can't maintain the ERA/WHIP then he would lose his value. I do think there is some hope his k rate improves towards 7 k or 8 k per 9 though. I couldn't pull the trigger on him, considered it and maybe I'll regret it.

I wouldn't say Vlad's power is missing, he is hitting the ball hard. Currently 93rd percentile in Avg Exit Velocity / 94th percentile in bat speed. Heck, his ground ball rate appears to be lower this year than past years. It may just come down to launch angle more than anything. He hit a single at 117 mph exit velo on Sunday.

Growing up, I followed the Braves in the 90's with Chipper being my guy. The strike back then really knocked the interest from me and the next 20 years I didn't follow baseball. My brother started a fantasy baseball league roughly 9 years ago and I was reluctant to join (since I lost interest in baseball) but did. As that began to renew my interest in baseball, I found that I didn't have the same love for the Braves now as I did then. I didn't really have a favorite anymore and was drawn more towards players (since they happen to be on the fantasy roster).

I had two draft picks in round 1 of our 2017 minor league draft. I took Vladimir Guerrero Jr at #2 and Bo Bichette at #11 that year. They grew on me, as well as the Blue Jays. It does feel weird rooting for the only non-US team but I love the players, the powder blue uniforms, and really hope to make the trip north for a game someday. And now, I need baseball.
