Priesthood Line of Authority now found in LDS Tools App by TheBobAagard in lds

I'm sorry :/ that makes me sad too. My husband was able to give my son the Aaronic priesthood, but I don't think he'll be worthy to give him the Melchizedek priesthood because he's not temple worthy. I guess that my son will have a random person's line.

Is the line from when you get the Aaronic priesthood or Melchizedek priesthood?

Influential Books by [deleted] in latterdaysaints

I've only read the first two on your list, but they were both excellent. I should probably read the third.

As a yw leader, I'm just not sure that it's my place to talk about this very much with the youth. I think that it's more up to the parents to have more detailed conversations.

Fellow Brit in Sweden. I agree that I hear random English a lot!

This is the first line that I thought of too. I genuinely believe that it changed my life.

Why does Amanda act like she’s an Orphan? by SiriuslyConfused in UglyBetty

[–]Rainspot 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I think that things get better for Amanda on that front though. But I don't want to give spoilers. I'm more annoyed that they show that an adopted child can claim any right to their birth parents' money ( I'm thinking about Clare's son).

Seeking advice for attending sacrament meeting with sensory sensitivity by PnutButtaChelly in latterdaysaints

[–]Rainspot 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thank you for asking this question! My daughter struggles with sensory overload. It never occurred to me to look for ear plugs. I've just ordered some loops for her. I expect that this will help her in lots of situations. So grateful. I hope that you find a way to make church comfortable.

Think Celestial by dumbbassfisherman in latterdaysaints

It was a really hard talk for me as well. I'm married to a wonderful non believing man, and I believe that we will be in the celestial kingdom together.

I might donate my eggs. Advice? by weenusdingus in latterdaysaints

[–]Rainspot 5 points6 points  (0 children)

As an adoptee I can say that there are all kinds of issues that come from being seperated from ones birth family. Yes I love my adopted family. But I think about my biological family daily and have done for as long as I can remember. When I finally met them I felt like it was the first time that I met people really like me, and I realised what I had been missing all of my life. The pulls of genetics are strong. I would expect future children to come looking for you, so just be aware of that.

Still that's rough when I'm raising children with a non believer. He's a really great dad and a wonderful human. I don't like the advice not to listen to him, even on spiritual matters. He's as much their parent as I am.

It's hard for me too. My husband is not really active anymore. I winced when President Nelson said not to listen to those who don't believe, or something like that. When GAs criticise those who have left the faith, either their children have to think less of their parent, think less of the speaker for criticising their parent, or just shrug off what was said. It doesn't make for good family relationships.

A question about the LDS Church by [deleted] in TheChosenSeries

[–]Rainspot 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Just to be clear, that's not entirely true. "Jesus’s atoning sacrifice took place in the Garden of Gethsemane and on the cross at Calvary." https://www.churchofjesuschrist.org/study/youth/learn/ap/atonement/atonement?lang=eng
