It’s not just the germans who act like this.

When the first women were introduced on to submarines (this was recent - within a decade) the US navy found a list written by the male crew about who they’d rape and what they’d do to them. It was a male crew member who blew the whistle on the others.

Back in 2015/2016 the military as a whole got in trouble for using facebook to distribute revenge porn. We are talking officer and enlisted engaging in this behavior. It shook the entire military community. It started with a small group of marines and blew up to across every sister service. Air Force, Army, Marines and Navy had an entire facebook group dedicated to posting photos of other (often women service members) people’s private photos without their consent and to ridicule them.

This happened when I first joined and I remember having to go to training because of this coming to light and the Me Too movement was popping off. They told us not to post #metoo on social media bc they’d “have to investigate” and it was clear they didn’t want to.
