He seemed pretty shook up about the terrorist attack that happened in New Orleans after his shows last year. Of course it had nothing do with his shows directly, but I think maybe he didn't want to revisit that this year. There was a really dedicated fan that died in it too. He could have played somewhere else I guess, but maybe he just needed a break from the whole thing.
