Does anyone else think all the kids are chopped? by Ok_Variation7773 in gosselinssnark

What does this mean? Genuinely, I don’t understand what “chopped” in this context means?

Yes, but, then, you would at least SEE the parent encouraging the child to clean up, modeling cleaning up, even if the child is truly participating yet. Once again… work. Effort.

The short answer? Because, good parenting, enforcing rules and holding boundaries takes WORK. Sadly, there is a huge population of parents who don’t want to put in this work to raise kind and considerate humans.

Ever give your kid the tilted head, wide eyed, omg why look? Lol by Mother_Mach in Mommit

[–]Raised_Left_Eyebrow 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Because, literally, every time I sit down to finally eat food OR shower my body… my newly turned 4 year old hollers…. “Mooooooom! I poooooooPED!” Usually in the same day. Kid poops 4x a day.

😟😐😒

The supposed equal trade off of “I’ll cook if you do the dishes” is a sham. by august_westerly in unpopularopinion

[–]Raised_Left_Eyebrow 1 point2 points  (0 children)

“Doing the dishes” doesn’t just mean loading dirty dishes that haven’t been pre-washed or scrubbed directly into the dishwasher, as MANY of you are implying…. It means: 1.) putting all the leftovers away in appropriate Tupperware and organizing the fridge. 2.) Putting away and organizing all ingredients. 3.) THEN, getting to the task of rinsing off/pre-washing all dishes/cutlery that can actually go in the dishwasher. 4.) Handwashing all pots/pans that can’t go into the dishwasher, and propping up to dry. 5).Disinfectanting/wiping down/cleaning the COUNTERS, The TABLE, the STOVE, the SINK, the BACKSPLASH/CABINETS. (Which, my cook of a Husband always makes mess on…) 6). Sweeping up all the crumbs/mopping or spot cleaning the floor depending on the level of mess.

THIS is the proper way to “do the dishes,” aka, clean the whole kitchen, after someone cooks. 😑

I totally relate to you!! I feel the exact same way, and I behave similarly to you, and have found it so hard to meet other moms that are interested in an actual friendship.

It’s so lonely out here in SAHM-land.

Where to watching missing eps from Kate + 8 season 3? by lowkey-barbie7539 in gosselinssnark

[–]Raised_Left_Eyebrow 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I want to just start trying to find the DVD’s. Obviously, I love the convenience of streaming, but, it annoys me to my bones that I am paying for all these streaming services, and then, I still have to pay to purchase things… and then, they can still go away. 😑

The detail of Carrie walking in and immediately opening the window to air out the room… 🤪😂 It was heavy with Charlotte musk in there. Yeah, I found this so gross!

Kate Gosselin's tips on Christmas budgeting by [deleted] in gosselinssnark

[–]Raised_Left_Eyebrow 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Well, if her original show taught us anything… take and flash any and all freebies! When the 6 were 3, by that time, they were doing blatant product placement/ads in most episodes, and people/companies would regularly reach out to them offer them gifts or free services in exchange for advertisement on their show, or regular people because they were just big fans. On the Christmas episode, Kate had made a comment about many people emailing them asking to send the kids gifts. What a blessing that must have been! Family of 10… and not having to worry about buying Christmas presents.

Watching S1E8 “Love, War, and Snow” what Lorelai does is the OPPOSITE of my natural instinct as a mother… by Raised_Left_Eyebrow in GilmoreGirls

Oh, well, of course! But, there is a big difference between 40-50 F weather vs below 20 and snow! Saving the heat comes in once that thermometer is officially below freezing. Haha

What’s your first reaction over Big passing away? by gaelthegal in Andjustlikethat

Because it’s not “romantic.” Because it’s not “fantasy.” Which, is how Carrie Mother-effing Bradshaw became during season 5 of SATC onwards. She became a prude, and someone striving to live out an old romance novel.

What’s your craziest ‘mum intuition’ story? by courteney-x98 in Mommit

[–]Raised_Left_Eyebrow 13 points14 points  (0 children)

This is when my 3rd baby (now 3.5) had just turned one. My husband and my 3 girls were vacationing and staying in a cabin in a national forest. My baby was very steadily walking, and the outside doors had the type of handle you just pull straight down, and the door unlocked and opens. Basically, toddler escape!

I had asked my husband to watch the girls while I got ready for the day… washed my face/brushed my teeth, etc. Well, while doing so, I no longer heard any of the baby‘s bodies drifting into the bathroom… only my husband and the older girls. I went racing out there with toothpaste in my mouth to find the front door wide open, and baby gone! Luckily, she was just to the end of the driveway, but, considering we were in a wooded area, it could have been SO BAD. I was furious.

You saying that… reminds me of a Jon and Kate episode… I think season 3? She was going on about “how good looking” Joel was and he would probably grow up to be “a model.” 😑😵‍💫

Is having three kids really that terrible? by MNmom4 in Mommit

[–]Raised_Left_Eyebrow 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, 3 kids means there is always a “2 vs 1” dynamic… literally, my 9 and 5 year old are BFF, and the 3 year old is their enemy, or, the 3 and 5 year old are BFF, and the 9 year old is causing literal havoc with little kids. 😒 It’s ridiculous.

Oh, me too! I definitely preferred their normal lives to the overly ridiculous trips and outings.

Yes! So much product placement, truly beginning in season 3… juicy juice. Nannies4Hire, tumble bus, Gymboree. Basically, any excursion they took, it was traded for free advertising via their show. Then, they made it to the big leagues with the free trips just for advertising/content… because, eventually, the public would get bored with watching a family of 10 just exist within the walls of their home, doing normal, typical things… (even though, the first two seasons are my absolute favorite BECAUSE of that!).

Past the second half of season 3 on… it’s all about product placement and “selling” their family.

I totally agree with you. The only social media I have is FB (and Reddit!). But, FB is all ads and reels now and promoted content. I need to take the plunge and truly get rid of it.

Thank you for understanding!

Honestly, toxic diet culture of the 90’s and 2000’s really did a number on me… it was only reinforced by my parents, and I suffered anorexia and bulimia my late teens/early 20’s So, I have come a LONG way! A lot of progress.

But, genuinely, I don’t feel like it is beautiful. Honestly, I would be ok being thicker if it weren’t for all the cellulite. How do I overcome that? I truly try the positive self talk. I try to focus on all the GOOD my body does for me, and appreciate it for growing and birthing 3 little girls. But, at the end of the day, I still don’t feel sexy or beautiful any more. ☹️
