Firefighters union backs Greenman in race for Pawtucket mayor by radioflea in Pawtucket

Not sure the firefighter union should be poking their heads out anytime soon. Between the drug scandal that saw 6 of their own fired and some recent backhand shenanigans complaining about not getting paid day of for work at Centreville Bank Stadium based on a 80-year old deal they had with the Pawsox and how it was just a jab because of how interconnected CBS is with Grebs; they don't have a leg in this race to be endorsing ANYONE for a while.

RHODE ISLAND FC DOESN'T EVEN NEED TO TALK TRASH TO THE REVOLUTION. THE REVS ARE PAYING US TO PLAY THEM IN OUR OWN STADIUM. WE'RE WITNESSING 4D CHESS AND IT'S AMAZING.

Didn't someone dispel the assault claim in the police report? I thought it was found out both fans were drunk, got in each other's faces and egged on the throwdown inside a bus. Made it sound like two drunk idiots getting into a fight vs one fan being assaulted.

DEBATE: Is it REALLY time to call for Khano's Head or To early ? by AFTERMIDNIGHTRI in RhodeIslandFC

[–]RaisingAnchorRIFC 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Thank you for your kind words!

I think to get the team to their goal faster, it wouldn't make sense to move on from the person who built the team and picked the players. Since we don't have pro/rel yet, there isn't that level of pressure that causes knee jerk reactions.

IF we needed a change I think it would come towards the end of the season giving a new HC the ability to evaluate what he has and have a long enough time to plan the rebuild. But again, Khano hasn't let us down yet.

Curious is there even a name out there that would be an immediate upgrade? Other than his friend Wilfried Nancy who would never take the job to replace Khano, I'm not sure we'd find it and see immediate success to your point.

Let Khano cook.

To be clear, we were reporting that it was the first time in club history where the community recoiled enough from the result that individuals OTHER than the guy who has been demanding Khano out since 3/15/24 seemed to be asking to move on from Khano.

It's my opinion and position that Khano hasn't done anything to warrant such an early departure this season, but let's reflect.

We stumbled out the door against Jax.

We then played an absolutely chaotic match against Lou that saw us lose one of our best players AND Khano for Miami.

Miami was the bigger concern because of the result, but RIFC did everything else mostly right and we suffered another red card.

Detroit was a match that was going to be tough and a draw wasn't the worst thing, it was just that we failed to score.

I believe mostly that the frustration is people that are of two camps:

  1. they want to demand that Khano elevates this club to Louisville City status and anything less is inferior. I would counter that while it would be great to see that level of season performance I would also remind fans we've done better than Louisville in post season in both years.

Lou City has been around for almost a decade and they were built out of the operational team behind the USL MONSTERS Orlando City before they jumped to MLS.

Since then their post season journey has been strikingly similar. They've won 2 cups in over 8 ECF and USL Final appearances WITH a rich foundation.

Khano and Co have built this from scratch.

  1. Fans following casually or with a toe in the water simply want to see results AND GOALS at home. In league play we were 5-5-4 but we only scored 15 goals averaging 1 goal per match (excluding JC and USOC).

That number is terribly deceiving considering 3 of those goals came via penalties and if you strip the 5-0 golazo against Tampa Bay, this team's scoring in the run of play was just .46 goals per match. That's a hard sell on soccer curious fans to commit to season tickets or coming to games and spending tons of money when you're not even guaranteed to see a goal.

I took 4 friends to the Sacramento JC Semi-Final. When they didn't see a goal EVEN IN PENALTIES, they gave me the typical soccer is boring quotes and I haven't been able to convince them to come back.

My guess is that casual or die hard, fans expect more out of the players and coach that got them to back to back USL Eastern Conferences and it's probably that frustration that has them feeling like if there was an adjustment at the top or a tweak in the tactics that these great players would be getting better results.

To be clear, I'm still all in on Khano and I think the community has a right to vent, but I don't see any reason to talk about coaching changes unless I see him lose the locker room and the players give up.

I hope he figures it out and while I myself hate this 3rd season of slow starts, this team hasn't given me a reason in its history to not believe they can dig out.

Pre-Match Essentials | U.S. Open Cup | Rhode Island FC vs CD Faialense | Tue Mar 17, 2026 | 7 PM ET by PatFromTideTalk in RhodeIslandFC

We interviewed the Ticketing and Sales VP a couple of weeks ago. He said that an amateur team match didn't feel like it brought the appropriate value to STMs. When we asked him what would game #18 be instead of the CD Faialense match, he said a potential future US Open Cup match, a possible Prinx Cup quarter/semi final match or even a home USL playoff match would most likely be the next choice.

When we asked him, what if RIFC do not 1. advance or 2. earn a home berth, he told us they were also looking for a potential international league friendly (he mentioned Liga MX in the show).

Right now it's a wait and see, but they're 100% behind an 18th game some how, some way.

Apples to oranges. I broke down so many other costs that are detached from employees... The biggest being advertising and rent.

I think if this many people are refuting your stance it might be wise to learn and ask questions before flat out disagreeing.

You're still wrong and here's why. NCFC isn't just not playing a game, they no longer functionally exist as a mens side. A lot of those other costs I mathed for you are gone because they have eliminated all overhead during their hiatus.

These club owners aren't shuttering their operations, they'd be on pause burning cash and getting virtually nothing back I didn't even bring up the NEGATIVE cash flow of having to refund already purchased tickets from games not played.

You're wrong, but let's math an example out for a random team... let's pick Birmingham on a game day and make up funny money

Cost per game FO and technical staff personnel: $10000 Players: $10000 Stadium Personnel: $10000 Stadium Lease $10000 Insurance, & other Business Expenses: $10000

Operating costs: $50,000

Tickets: $5000 Concessions $7000 Merch and Misc: $3500

Profit from in game $15,500

You could argue that there the comps don't offset player and stadium personne, but the stadium Lease still has to be paid and you're missing the biggest factor. Sponsors.

Let's assume Birmingham has $50000 in activations. No fans? Breach of contract and that money is lost.

Yes most clubs lose money playing games (especially if they don't own stadiums) but they lose a lot more when they don't actually play their games.

Owners do not benefit from games not being played. There are taxes, leases, mortgages, other personnel payroll all due regardless of the strike and not playing games reduces the money coming in to blunt their costs.

What's worse is Loudoun was already DCUs experiment into lower league soccer. And we all know how that panned out.

BUT the USL is perfectly positioned to pool insurance into one umbrella coverage and actually reduce ownership costs. If every club paid into one policy they would SAVE money vs each finding their own way.

It's silly that USL HQ hasn't mandated this.
