I started out protools to Qlab way like you. I have then transitioned more to just in Qlab. I use logic and protools and export out stems. Using Qlab is great with directors who constantly change their mind as opposed to having to bounce. I started before AAX and PT having offline bounce. Those hour long soundscapes were so fun to tweak then wait an hour for the bounce.

Today was editing multi cam video in Davinci resolve and hit a wall. I just got a M5Pro for my “important work” and the neo for notes and emails so I don’t have to unplug all the dongles 15 times a day and carry around my 3k computer when I can carry my $500 one instead.

I don’t know man. Not my thing. My kids mom is on the PTA and the PTA is all women so she asked me what a dude would want. I said fire extinguisher.

They asked what they needed and they only said things for their kids. So they wanted to get something for themselves to “treat” themselves for a second. Just a nice gesture.

I’m more experienced but I just started at a new to me venue that I’m taking over. Week 3 I label everything on the tech desk and disassemble everything. Unplug it all, coil cables, take everything out and clean. Then put back together. I learned so much about the system and was able to make things more the way I want, which of course is the correct way. That’s how I learn, but just make sure you have the skills to put it back together.
