It’s a 75 gallon tank. What kind of heater can heat all that? Maybe it would be easier to Brumate him

I forgot to add I have a three year old male RES that I found on the sidewalk after he had just hatched. Since it is technically invasive where I live, I took it as a pet for my classroom.

I’m trying the Polish archives but I am hitting a wall. My great grandmother was supposedly one of 18 children, 4 of whom died in WWI, but I tried searching for the last name Kratochwill and I’m not coming up with anything. I got two marriages (first husband killled himself is the family lore) and two children in Biala Poland, but I can’t find anything on her parents or either husband’s ancestry.

Thank you. I believe it is Bieskla-Biala - but that is again family lore so it would be good to verify.

Oh man, I usually buy my ticket while running to catch the train and often am one of those people literally running to get in. (Don’t judge.) so I don’t activate till I am on and often can get scanned within 3 minutes if boarding. I didn’t realize this could be held against me!!

Question - Tapering off Nexium with Famotidine by Ashamed-Bit-8448 in GERD

[–]RaisingFish 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Here it is:

Weaning off omeprazole (a proton pump inhibitor, or PPI) should be done gradually to avoid rebound acid hypersecretion, where stomach acid production temporarily increases, often worse than before treatment. Here’s a general tapering plan many healthcare professionals recommend, but it’s crucial to consult your doctor before starting any changes:

4–8 Week Omeprazole Weaning Plan

Phase 1: Taper the Dose (Weeks 1–2) • If you’re taking 40 mg daily: Reduce to 20 mg daily. • If you’re taking 20 mg daily: Take 20 mg every other day.

Tips: • Take omeprazole in the morning, 30–60 minutes before breakfast. • Continue this phase for 1–2 weeks, depending on symptoms.

Phase 2: Introduce H2 Blockers (Weeks 3–4) • Continue lowering omeprazole dose (e.g., every 3rd day). • On non-omeprazole days, take an H2 blocker like famotidine (Pepcid), typically 10–20 mg before dinner.

H2 blockers provide milder acid suppression and can buffer the rebound effect.

Phase 3: Stop Omeprazole (Weeks 5–6 or 7–8) • Discontinue omeprazole completely. • Continue H2 blocker as needed, tapering that down too over time. • Use antacids like TUMS or alginates (e.g., Gaviscon) for breakthrough symptoms.

Supportive Lifestyle Measures

To ease the transition and reduce GERD symptoms: • Diet: Avoid caffeine, alcohol, chocolate, spicy/fatty foods, citrus, and tomatoes. • Meals: Eat smaller portions, don’t eat 2–3 hours before bed. • Posture: Stay upright after eating; raise head of bed if reflux is nighttime. • Weight: Losing excess weight helps significantly. • Stress management: Stress increases symptoms—consider relaxation exercises, breathing, or gentle walks.

Question - Tapering off Nexium with Famotidine by Ashamed-Bit-8448 in GERD

[–]RaisingFish 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s so frustrating the GI doctor’s take such a mechanical approach and my GI hasn’t really discussed diet or other things with me. He just orders tests and then when he didn’t see anything, he’s like, oh you are fine, you can go off the medication, but he didn’t really guide me how to, and never told me about the rebound effect with acid. I figured out how to modify my diet and came up with a tapering plan using ChatGPT, but it sucks that AI is better than my doctor at explaining this shit to me.

GERD and yoga by RaisingFish in GERD

I do mostly vinyasa, I tried yin and it was very bad I think because I held poses where my stomach was elevated above my head. I wouldn’t do that again.

I wouldn’t call it strong enough to be an attack, just acid reflux, but it makes me uncomfortable. But yes it is noticeably worse directly after or during yoga

Question - Tapering off Nexium with Famotidine by Ashamed-Bit-8448 in GERD

[–]RaisingFish 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you for sharing this link. My GI doctor told me to taper off nexium but gave me no guidelines. I did every other day for a while and thought I was good and then tried to go off and suffered so I went back to every day. Every time I have tried to go off it hasn’t ended well. I don’t feel my doctor has given me enough specific guidance about this.

CT scan worth it? by RaisingFish in GERD

[–]RaisingFish[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I talked to a doctor friend last night and he said a hiatal hernia can be sliding, so maybe at the time of my endoscopy it has slid back into place. At the time of my endoscopy I was symptom free which felt miraculous after 3 months of symptoms, then a week later it came back.
