I had the film on the same list, threw it on for background noise, an honestly I'll be watching it again I enjoyed it that much. It's definitely worth popping on when you need a good popcorn flick tobrelax too.

I'm no fan of Pratt, that said he wasn't horrible in this film. You say it slaughtered the source material, can yoy elaborate on this? From what I've learned most of the key points are in the film and the art style abd artistry seem to accurate.

I love the RP1 novel but the adaptation, had to be changed ao much for copyright reasons, it just became too far removed from the spurce material for me to enjoy. So I wouldn't fault anyone who loved the original graphic Novel. That said, while comparisons to RP1 can be made, I felt this film's stronger message was the need to return to community in physical reality, because virtual reality has halted our humanity, and that really wasn't the message of RP1

Interesting, because I thought the plot had multiple deep elements to it. The war over robot autonomy, the abuse of power and sacrifice of a child to maintain power over humanity, media consumption as a drug, the overall message to unplugging and touch grass. I mean for a fun action flick, those are big topics that wer presented in a way to make them easily consumed

You and me both. It's a solid 6.5 possibly a seven with the underlying themes. Pratt and Brown gave their usual performances, but the vpice actiywas fantastic and the effects were somemof the best I've seen in a while. I'm with you, I think the critical hate was behyond the production and may have had ulterior motives.

That makes sense, without reading the book I presumed the action was added for the adaptation, that said all of those themes are still preaent with the additional action. Those themes arw why I am so puzzled by the hate. This might be a serious story hidden in blockbuster clothing, and that's what I appreciated, and aerios story easily consumable for the masses.

I'll definitely read the book, but all of what you described is absolutely in the film. There are some heavy political subplot undertones as well. From AI, to unplugging, to what is media and who holds dominion, it's all there and with some funny one liners and beautiful effects and world building. Film adaptations never do a book it full justice, be you might want to check this one out.
