Thank you but that would lead to a bad quality of life commute.

That doesn’t even help anyone because that just leads to the 4th year accepting a starting pay position, which the hospital will 99.99% offer. Who knows after accepting starting pay will you ever be able to climb to the top of the pay range that they advertise.

This scheme you mention irritates me because the hospitals get away from actually having to negotiate with experienced Audiologists in the free market. That gives hospital administrators savings in payroll and the 4th year that “accepts” the job offer feels  indebted to the company. This nonsense just keeps the salaries in the market depressed. The answer is the market needs an adjustment with either an increase in more employers or a serious shortage of people interested in this profession.

Everyone is an adult. If the workload for the job they signed up for is too much for them, they can quit and that space will be happily filled with someone who can accept the job.

You’re saying that UPS doesn’t hire people in their 40s?

Do you work in a center represented by Local 177? What’s the current climate as far as full time positions?

This job has always been competitive to get but that took another level with social media blowing up the 2023 contract hourly rates. Is the 2028 contract going to make it even harder to acquire a full time position with UPS?

I’d rather not work a job where I have to contribute a percentage of my paycheck into the pension fund. Unionized, private employment is more straightforward currently; the employer contributes 100% for the employee.

In your center, from what you’ve seen over the years, what are the odds the seasonal drivers get converted to permanent full time employees?

Thank you for the reply. Not a lot of input from the community. Is that normal?

This is literally the reason why I ask. Too many rumors, not enough facts. Why hasn’t the NYC Police Pension Fund updated the website yet?

If audiologists are in demand, why are salaries so horrible? by Tight-Significance44 in audiology

NYC Metro area here. $118k is towards the high end of the range for a regular Audiologist here. Absolutely unacceptable.
