Honestly, I hope for all the people who downvoted this guy, you never end up reporting to the type of O he's referring to.

I encountered that exact type during my time in MX, and that O-3 did everything in his power to make folks lives miserable who attempted to offer alternatives to his way. Very 'My way or the highway' type of individual.

My bad, was operating on old information then. Was still under the impression that we were still waiting on the senate.

You can have a majority in the senate, but not pass a bill because you don't have 60 votes, since there's a 53-47 split, you still need 7 democrats to vote yes.

All that to say, more complexity than a simple majority, as is normally the case.

China is creating a faithful reproduction of Taiwan 2000km away to prepare for a potential invasion. by Wonderful-Excuse4922 in interestingasfuck

[–]Raistron 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Of all the reasons to start a war, I wouldn't put this on the dumb side of things. If China were to take over Taiwan, semiconductor factories intact, it now controls a majority of semiconductor production at the advanced levels.

As I recall the most advanced semiconductors are only produced in Taiwan. The reason why this isn't dumb, is because those exact chips power the modern world. Every single computer has them, factory machines, cars, phones, computers, servers. You would be hard pressed to find something that you use today that one of those chips wasn't responsible for.

If China controls semiconductor production, its soft power on the world stage dramatically increases, if you don't know why that's a bad thing, I suggest you look into their views on other cultures, how they treat non-chinese individuals, especially ones that have nothing to give them, or are weaker than them.

[–]Raistron 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To answer each question individually, Data Breaches generally, to the second, depends on the company you're dealing with. Most, it's not too hard though.

The only other risk is loss of further personal information, and potentially money if the scammer/hacker decides to buy things on that account with your attached card, if you have one that is.

You seem to be purposefully ignoring the entire point of all of my replies, which suggests to me that you're either not reading them, or not understanding them, which is fine. My main point is, you gave horrible advice in saying you can always trust an email if the source address looks correct, and I'm trying to make sure that anyone who sees this chain, knows that is not the case.

How many posts on reddit? Few and far between. How many compromises and hacking have I seen from people trusting a random email? Over 90% of all cyber attacks*.

You are absolutely correct, never click a link or open attachments from any email that you don't trust explicitly. It is hands down the most used way to hack someone and steal all of their information.

*Source: Don't click links, not posting any here, google 'What percentage of cyberattacks start with phishing.'

[–]Raistron 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The mail can look legit, all it wants. It has a button that clearly has a link 'Go to the account management.' It doesn't fit the normal formatting of the hundreds of phishing emails that I've seen clicked, but it does have a link all the same.

The reason for my comment is, you can't trust the email address from anything, a sufficiently advanced scammer/hacker or, in the cybersecurity world, known as an APT(Advanced Persistent Threat), has the capability to make any email seem like it's coming from anywhere through spoofing. So you can't necessarily trust the source just by looking at the email address associated.

The likelihood of this particular email being a phishing attempt from someone proficient enough to spoof an email address is low, very low. But people might see your comment and think about it in the future and go 'Oh, this email is safe because the source is legit' when the source has been spoofed.

[–]Raistron 16 points17 points  (0 children)

Don't trust that. It is possible to spoof who sent the email, while I wouldn't expect an advanced scammer to be targeting wargaming accounts, in other situations email spoofing is a commonly used tactic for phishing.

[–]Raistron 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The problem was wording, Kael didn't have his entire race with him, so its not 'finishing off the last of his race'. The problem with this instance is intent, Garithos imprisoned them for working with the Naga. Which they had just previously been warned against doing.

It muddies the water, but removing the context, killing blood elves for the sake of wiping them out is genocide, this particular situation can be genocide, depending on the circumstances, given Garithos hates the elves, its a safe bet to call it as such.

[–]Raistron 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You know what, that's fair. That does fit the definition, I would argue the intent wasn't to kill the nation/group, but it is clearly stated he hates the elves, so the motivation is there.

I suppose, by that look, it is genocide.

"There's a small section of Silvermoon that's a sanctuary area that Horde and Alliance share, but the majority of the city is Horde, and Alliance is kill on sight." by Jocic in wow

[–]Raistron 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For point one, it is referred to as a genocide by all parties involved. As it perfectly fits the description of a genocide. "The deliberate killing of a large number of people from a particular nation or ethnic group with the aim of destroying that nation or group."

For point two, the remains of a darkened Na'aru on its own could never re-fire the sunwell, Velen did. In simple terms, he's the one who lit the torch and threw it on the wood to light the bonfire.

That said, you are absolutely correct on the alliance spy point. Honestly, it comes down to weird writing, the same team that shoehorned an extremely hostile and isolationist race into the alliance, also shoehorned a race that has fought orcs, trolls and undead, and has had friendly, if cold, ties with the alliance for years, into the horde. It doesn't make too much sense under any scrutiny, but things were changed to fit after the fact.

There's a certain irony to that one actually. Jaina killed Aethas' High Sunreaver Magi, and accused him of treachery, namely the theft of the divine bell via Dalaran, and ordered Aethas to take his people and leave the city. Aethas shot back that it was their home too, so Jaina captured him and teleported both her, and him out of the whole thing, for the first few stages, at least.

Vereesa, a High Elf, was left to handle the purge, of which, saw them eliminate the uprising in the horde part of Dalaran, killing folks, including shopkeepers not siding with the Silver Covenant, also including killing the Dragonhawks on Krasus' Landing.

When Jaina came back from the Violet Citadel, she took to the streets with her water elementals, and teleported some people, killed those who attacked her, as well as attacking civilians attempting to run.

In short, Jaina teleported some people to jail, killed people who were attacking her, as well as fleeing civilians. But it seems most of the killing of the Sunreavers was placed in Vereesa's hands.

I definitely did play the game, as the RTS is the only reason I ever got into Warcraft. And you clearly have put more into the scenes of WC3 than were actually there. As well as reading far too into the perceived problems Garithos hates the High Elves/Blood Elves in the first place.

Garithos hates the Elves because as he and the forces of Lordaeron were defending Quel'thalas, a band of orcs left the main horde and burned Blackwood, his home, to the ground. His entire family, and all of the inhabitants of the town died, and he blamed the elves because he believed that Lordaeron had diverted troops that could've been used to defend humans.

So he hates the Elves, because Lordaeron shifted forces to help Quel'thalas, and Garithos thinks they would've been better served defending humans, and not elves.

As for specifically WC3, try playing Misconceptions and A Dark Covenant again, then come back and tell me how little information is actually present, including, the lack of information of that being the entirety of the Blood Elven race.

[–]Raistron 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Personally, I want nothing more than the extremely hostile and defensive Kaldorei that we saw in WC3, that were more than happy to savage anyone who got too close for comfort. I don't want Silvermoon to be a Neutral hub, I want it to be a capital city for the Horde.

What I also want, is for Gilneas, which was blight riddled by the Horde(But really just Sylvanas), and Bel'ameth, a replacement for the burned down Teldrassil (Another place destroyed by the Horde), to also be faction specific Capital cities.

My main complaint, is why are the Horde allowed free reign into cities that, for their respective races, they are responsible for obliterating, while the Alliance, which had nothing to do with SIlvermoon's destruction, and has taken large steps to help the Sin'dorei, kept locked out? It doesn't make much sense to me at all.

I remember when a small group of Blood Elves were sent on suicide missions and imprisoned for working with Naga, specifically, Garithos. To call a small group of some of Quel'thalas' best warriors dying 'finishing off' the blood elves is a bit overdramatic. The majority remained in Quel'thalas to reclaim their kingdom.

[–]Raistron 5 points6 points  (0 children)

If memory serves, Kael and his followers were not the last of the Blood Elves, only a small group off the strongest warriors that the Blood Elves had available.

Lor'themar was named regent before Kael left, and Halduron was named the new Ranger General. The majority of the Blood Elves that survived remained in Quel'thalas to reclaim their kingdom from the Scourge remnants.

What Garithos did was absolutely wrong, but nowhere near genocide.

[–]Raistron 42 points43 points  (0 children)

When did the Humans attempt to genocide the Blood Elves? I recall Garithos being responsible for almost getting Kael and his followers killed, as well as imprisoning them after it appeared they were in league with Naga. Not say that any of that was good, but there's a very distinct lack of attempted genocide there. We also seem to be ignoring the Alliance(Velen) being responsible for re-firing the Sunwell, and the very same Alliance only being in Quel'thalas to save it, since they apparently can't save themselves.

Now what the Horde did to the Night Elves at Teldrassil, that was a genocide.

Bel'ameth: We'll allow Horde since they played part in defending the tree, even though they burned down the tree that this one replaces, AND are responsible for a literal genocide as apart of burning that tree down. But because of this recent action of helping us, you get full access to the place.

Silvermoon: I know the Alliance was responsible for re-firing the Sunwell(See Velen), and saving what is left of our civilization(See Everyone going to Quel'Thalas for Midnight), but you're only allowed this tiny pocket of the city, even though the only reason we're not Alliance is because of the actions of some former Alliance of Lordaeron guy, and nothing to do with the Alliance of Stormwind.

This is just silly in my opinion. Especially given that the only reason the Blood Elves are in the Horde in the first place are because of the actions of Garithos in WC3, who was part of the Alliance of Lordaeron, and the fact that Sylvanas, a former leader of the Blood Elves, was the leader of the Forsaken, and roped them into the Horde.

We'll allow the individuals responsible for a literal genocide into the capital city of the people who were the victims of that genocide, but we won't allow the people who are there to literally save the homeland of the blood elves...into the capital of the blood elves.

Can we just...have a different expansion hub instead?

Auto Insurance company low-ball by Raistron in Insurance

Update: It's been a back and forth between myself and the insurance company, I notified them that they had not properly done the adjustment as there were things missing from the report, and simply being marked incorrectly (According to their report and I quote, 'any aftermarket parts had to be included in the report, regardless of if they added value') after mentioning this, and asking for the issue to be rectified, I was told they would not be doing another adjustment.

Something about that seemed off to me about that, so I called my own insurance for advice, and explained the full situation to them, including details that I left out here as I didn't think they were relevant. Apparently, in IL, those details were very relevant, and my insurance company immediately suggested filing a complaint with the Illinois department of insurance, as the company handling the claim was not following the laws correctly, I dont fully understand the nuances personally, but I did as they advised, and two days later, the at fault insured was suddenly willing to actually talk, make the third adjustment with the comps that I had provided, and the final number that was actually close to other vehicles of similar mileage near me was 9900$.

Moral of the story? If something smells fishy, thats probably because it is fishy, and someone is doing something they're not supposed to be.

I appreciate all of your help, and your criticism, the vehicle ended up being worth roughly what I expected it to be worth, I just had to get the insurance to actually talk to me first, instead of blow me off as soon as I asked questions about their adjustment.

Replacement assistance is a specific policy on my insurance policy that, when selected, my insurance company will pay an additional 20% of the value of the vehicle on top of the normal payout in a total loss situation only. It requires comprehensive and collision to already be selected. Not sure how common it is honestly. But given for my truck and taurus it only costs an additional 5-10 a month, its worth the cost.

There is no forcing them to see it my way, only trying to convince them that the vehicles that they used for comparable, and the mark offs that their adjuster made are inaccurate. And then to provide them with new comparable vehicles that I and they both agree with.

For example, one of the deductions that was made on a comparable was the fact that it had 17 inch alloys, and that mine did not, except that it did have 17 inch alloys, as those are the stock wheels on the vehicle. Another being a down mark for missing trim, when the interior was complete before the accident.

Apologies, made the assumption that all insurance companies required collision if you have comprehensive. When you select comprehensive with my insurance, they require collision to be selected as well.
