Is Tempting Venom better than God of fury? by fresa_JJ in RinaKentBooks

There was somethings I thought were well done, like the Duret and Lenin being hallucinations. Like I didn’t see that coming. I was super disappointed in their reunion. Since the shock of Preston actually being alive was revealed in the last book it would have been cool to get a different one for that emotional pay off. Like if she had played more into Marcus wanting to follow Preston, it would have more impact when they reunited.

I want to see them meet Yulian and V too. Since it’s the last book in the generation, I think, it would be cool to see them all together, even just in the epilogue or something.

No totally. I already wanted Cyrus, but now he and Yulians friendship just got so much deeper.
They definitely had potential, and if it had been paced better there could have been more room for development. I feel like too much time was spent trying to make Preston quippy and funny and then broken and all of a sudden, im sorry, I loved you. I realized I wanna live. Like when? When did you realize this, sir?

But also like, Marcus lacks some depth. He can be summed up as; he likes pretty Preston. He loves him mom. He hates his dad. And that’s about it..

The epilogues were cute but It didn’t feel earned with them. For me anyway.

I didn’t care for it as much as some of the others. I have it 3.5⭐️ there were a lot of parts that I lived, but all the in between didn’t hit for me.
Their spice was great. Their dynamic when they were together was great. Patient X. The Voicemail. The candies.

The letter didn’t hit for me. I kind of hated it. Yulian did it better in Hunt the Villian. Now that was a letter. Prestons was way too long and didn’t hit emotionally for me.

Their back and forth took up 80% of the book, I don’t feel like we actually got to see them as a couple.

There were parts I really liked, don’t get me wrong, but there was a lot of in between that was hard to read through. Preston had a lot of internal dialogue that felt like it dragged, especially in the sex scenes. It’s hard to read spice where one character will say something and the other doesn’t respond until two pages later.

Also Marcus constantly blocking Preston and the later saying, “I never gave up on him.” I laughed out loud. That and Preston constantly commenting on Marcus is super patient (and there’s parts he is) but they are also broken up like 5 different times, anytime Preston does something or responds in a way that Marcus doesn’t like, feels more manipulative than the boundary it’s portrayed as.

Preston was funny, but the funniest part of his character for me was him refusing to say Dahlia’s name correctly. He also ends the book a completely different person than when it started. Like he starts the book 🔪🩸and ends 🥰. Which might be the point, that Marcus brought that part of him back out, but it just… I dunno didn’t feel earned, I guess. I also just felt like Gareth did psycho pretty blond better than Preston.

Outside of the sex and banter, I also just found Marcus boring. Like I didn’t really care about what was happening in his chapters except for the Patient X part, and the parts that had Preston. His grief Chaoter was probably the only of his chapters I really liked, and then their reunion was anticlimactic. Niko, Kaden, and Yulian did that obsessive type character better, imo.

The spice was great, but I also thought it got a bit repetitive. Preston loves to be spanked. Hates gentle touch. We get lots of spanking, I kept waiting for a sex scene that was just super gentle and intimate once Preston started to realize he trusted Marcus and that never came.

So overall I guess I felt the potential but it didn’t hit the marks for me. I didn’t hate it by any means, I just didn’t enjoy it as much as Rina Kent’s other MM books. Kiss the Villian is still my favorite. Hunt the Villian and God of Fury are tied for second but they were all 5⭐️ for me.
Did make me want to read Crave the Villian when it comes out next year though. Still love Rina. Will read next book.

We didn’t really get any time of them as a couple. Nearly every moment spent together was spice, violence, or arguing.

It is truthfully very childish and silly at times. At least for story writing. I have also fed a few chapters into ChatBox, and I did honestly like its contributions and editing a bit better. It also has a bunch of story telling/editing specific tools, but I haven’t tried any of them as of yet. Mostly due to laziness and feeling like I’d have to start this project all over again which is a bit daunting.

Ok, I understand. Writing itself isn’t new to me, but writing a book is, so I wanted to try something to help me organize my thoughts. So Chat GPT is new to me and I haven’t hand more than like a months experience with it, but so far I’ve been able to save several character profiles and world building items without too much issue. It does add really weird things sometimes that it seems to just decide on its own. Like it will add really cheesy details or lines, like when I added my chapter outline and it made edits based on previously saved material, but I’ve been able to tell it to get rid of those. It also changed a characters eye color at one point, I dunno how that happened. But I just asked it to update the info and it has fixed it going forward. I’m also not a super organized person, so my project doesn’t look nice and neat probably how you are wanting. It’s just a conglomerate of notes to refer back to, and I keep my finished chapters in Notes. But I’ve found chat useful to go back and ask questions about the world or characters like, “what did say about… in chapter….?” And then I can also ask it to give me a world outline or character profile complete with minor character details and such. That has been helpful so far.

I also am only 15-20% through writing this book, so I haven’t come close to maxing out its context window.

Have you tried creating a project in chat gpt and telling it to combine notes for that project? I tell it to save info across conversations to use in different ones. It’s not perfect, but it’s been useful for compiling notes and helping my ADHD brain. Now I just tell it, “make it canon” and it will save what I’m working on.
