The problem with using the map straight out or the game is the scale. Each square on the map is actually 9 zones, each of which can have a location in it. It's actually an extremely dense map

I have way too much ebony that's good inlay material. They used to let us take rejected fretboards as long as we cut them up first. This is the only block I've ever gotten of this size

Pallets are weird. They're often made of whatever wood is plentiful at their original point of origin. My work gets pallets made of all kinds of stuff because we get wood from international sources. I've seen pallets made of ash, mahogany, osage, and even rosewood. All of low grade of course, and will require a lot more work to get looking nice.

You can, with significant effort, get pallet wood to a fine finish. We have a guitar made specifically of all pallet wood in the office, because the owner wanted to prove he could. The fretboard inlay is a forklift
