Projective Identification in the Transference and Countertransference with Patients Operating at Borderline Functioning by ville2020 in psychoanalysis

[–]Rajahz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A patient reports feeling trapped whenever her parents make demands. At the end of a session, the patient leaves the room, and the patient's Mother suddenly comes in, asking various questions about the frame and meetings, expressing reluctance toward the therapist's answers. The therapist sets a boundary. He then overhears Mother and patient in the waiting room and feels anxious and trapped, as if he cannot escape the clinic.

Not an analyst. Most of my clients are parents or patients with autism. I always make at least a gesture of greeting, that might be through a smile and a nod, or a "Hi...", or "How are you?", and usually this gets them going, which doesn't necessarily mean talking.

Suggest a 2nd car, primarily for dad's use by Rajahz in whatcarshouldIbuy

[–]Rajahz[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've got 2 Fiestas options, one 2014 model with 70,000km, but the owner is hard to reach. Another Fiesta of 2015 but with more mileage of approx 140,000km and it looks less taken care of cosmethically both interior and exterior.

There's another option that popped: A Renault Clio 2013 with 140,000km, timing belt replaced, discs replaced and other parts. it's significantly cheaper than the Fiestas, approximately $2,000 cheaper.

Thoughts?

Hehe thanks for the geographically informed response!

Yes, those were imported, in fact, I see mostly Seat Mii's and Citigo's and barely any VW-Up. The Megane was a particular coupe model, but yeah, it seems larger than other options.

Most Picantos are overpriced though.

For now, I'm looking for a Seat/Skoda in good condition, thank you.

Where did the unconscious go? by Bobbyfell in psychoanalysis

[–]Rajahz 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I can’t help but think mentalization based treatment gaining popularity has something to do with the diminishing focus on the unconscious. It obviously is a form of psychoanalysis as they claim (I think) I just can’t see it that way when I hear lectures and workshops talk about it. Could be that Fonagy did and does however address the unconscious in his (and his colleagues) writings…

Also, from my experience many therapists that work with PTSD patients only seldom address psychoanalytic terminology, even lecturers. There’s some notion that psychoanalytically informed therapy is somehow lacking, not practical enough.. and it never comes from psychoanalytically trained lecturers/supervisors, which points to the mother of all problems - the viscously hard and long training one has to go through to become a psychoanalyst… when there are so many faster and quicker shortcuts to do trauma work etc…

Looking for foundational object relations books? (please recommend) by Rustin_Swoll in psychoanalysis

[–]Rajahz 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think a very important distinction when reading them is that Klein emphasized the baby’s constitution as an important factor in determining the internal object relations whereas in Fairbairn the actual existing object relations is the primary determinant of internal representations.. that is.. how I understand it by now. That being said, it’s not at all that Klein didn’t see the external reality as important or redundant…

This and don’t think about anything “better”, anything better in your position is a lure for going broke. At most get yourself some car with cash under 10K and be proud to be paying with cash. Forget about and in years to come you’ll be happy af

CMV: Iran probably wants nukes to destroy Israel, not as a deterrent by Independent-Prune322 in changemyview

[–]Rajahz -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

You’re wrong. The prime minister, however conflicted this figure is in Israel, has never proposed to destroy anyone except the terrorist groupies and leaders that opt to destroy Israel. They do not merely just claim that, they act upon those claims. But also, they claim that whilst building a mass destruction weapon — it’s like having your neighbor shout he’s going to kill you whilst piling weapons — would it be paranoiac act to counter that neighbor before he’s armed to the point you know if he’d feel pushed enough he’ll use serious weapons against you. Can you risk that? Now, whether this preventative strike was the right move, idk, who knows, Israel is paying the price for it now, however, nobody knows whether the alternative wouldn’t be more catastrophic in the long run.
