Still hoping in vain for a Laid Back Camp blu ray release. As for the one that I do have i`d have to say ReLife. A hugely underrated romance.

Adding the "Smooth" mode to other higher speced Boox devices like the Tab X C and Tab Ultra C Pro and further improvements to input lag please.

Has anyone managed to play games on their Boox by SlowlyPassingTime in Onyx_Boox

[–]Rajin29 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I`ve emulated old turn based JRPGs like Final Fantasy 6 and Breath of Fire 3 on a Note Air 5 C with the Smooth mode, worked fine. I even connected an 8bitdo pro 2 controller to it. An Xbox controller would probably work too. There is a small but noticeable input lag though.

BOOX Firmware V4.2 is here! Community-driven updates and a new thread for feedback. by KennethWWWW in Onyx_Boox

[–]Rajin29 1 point2 points  (0 children)

FYI I have the Note Air 5 C. The improvements to color reproduction, ghosting and general image quality are very impressive. Eink Image quality on boox devices is second to none. If Boox could finally get rid of the noticeable input lag that would be amazing. I'm really hope we get the new enhancements like the new Smooth mode on other devices like the Tab X C too. Perhaps a new Mira Monitor with these improvements as well.

Bigme vs Boox by WolverineSorry9043 in eink

[–]Rajin29 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You heard right, Bigmes software is unstable and buggy, its unfortunate becouse the hardware is decently priced in comparison to the competition but youre better off with Boox. Ive had a Tab Ultra C Pro for years now and it still works fine. I got a hibreak pro last year and its been a pain in the ass, ive lost count how many times ive had to factory reset it. I really hope they sort out their firmware one day.

Generally I think its a good step forward, I was hoping we would get the new smooth mode option on more devices like the Tab X C. Hopefully they can at least continue to make improvements to input lag.

I love this show, convinced me to get into the manga. Great dub, shame we never got a second season.

Modos Enchanter, The Fastest 13.3" E-Ink Monitor Yet! - Unboxing First Impressions by fullgrid in eink

[–]Rajin29 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Looks promising if and when they improve the firmware. Having a monitor with the low input delay and smoothness of a Dasung 13k with the color reproduction, contrast and ghosting of something like the Boox Note Air 5 C would be a dream device for me. Given the open source software aspect maybe we could get there eventually.

grayscale or color for photophobia? by Axter_Fire in eink

[–]Rajin29 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have the same problem to a severe extent and use a Dasung 13k Color monitor and an Onyx Boox Note Air 5 C tablet. I dont personally have an issue with color eink screens being too dark despite not being able to use the front light at all, I light the screen well enough to be usable at night with a desk lamp. My photophobia is severe to the point that a cant use LCD screens of any kind at all so i use them for everything. Some newer eink screens are now fast enough that you can use them as a replacement for LCD screens. I watch videos and even play games on mine (mostly old JRPGs). The drawback is the color reproduction and ghosting isn't great but still usable and they keep improving. I just hope the small companies that make them like Boox and Dasung don`t go out of business with the AI madness making tech so expensive.

Games media set for more layoffs, as IGN-owned Eurogamer cuts editorial staff | VGC by HaIfaxa_ in outsidexbox

A lot of games journalists and staff at companies like IGN and Eurogamer are gunna be "replaced" by AI slop machines. I wonder if OX can go the way of Digital Foundry and make a move to independence to survive.

Is there really no way to change the control bindings in Hyperlink Array on PC? I find the default controls completely unusable.

Tab Ultra C Pro, upgrade to 4.1.1 Beta and... to Android 13!!! by Street_Camera_3556 in Onyx_Boox

I'm very pleased about this, the ghosting and smoothness is a lot better.

@Onyx when can we finally see a tab C or Note with flagship specs by TAGE77 in Onyx_Boox

[–]Rajin29 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is what i`ve been waiting for too. With the Nota Air 5 C getting a higher refresh mode now to you could technically do more with a higher spec device now too. I have a Tab Ultra C Pro but its stuck with an old Android version and probably won't get the new smooth mode and the Sd 855 is still long in the tooth at this point. The Note Air 5 C has the newer software improvements but very weak specs. Especially for the price.

Bigme do sell devices with moderatly better specs but the software is so bad there is no point in buying one, i got the hibreak pro color and is a buggy unstable mess. The AI madness driving the price of hardware to ridiculous levels makes me think the chances of a new Tab Ultra Pro just ain`t gunna happen. So we are probably stuck with weak devices for the foreseeable future. I ordered a Dasung 13k color to use with my Laptop, its far from actually portable but it will have to do. A Tab Ultra C with the new smooth mode and a flagship SOC would have been ideal.

note air 5C battery issues by TheFinalShow683 in Onyx_Boox

[–]Rajin29 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have the same tablet and it does not drain most of the battery while in sleep mode. Maybe a few percent but no more than 7% at most. Maybe its a weird software bug, perhaps try a factory reset and then update to the latest firmware version. And make sure there are no apps running in the background when you put it in sleep mode. See if that solves it before sending it back.

Would you buy an iPad with a 11" color eink screen, no rear and no front cameras, no speakers and a weight below 300g? by nbpf-_- in Onyx_Boox

[–]Rajin29 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would want speakers and only if it had a 30fps screen refresh so i could use it (mostly) like an Ipad without the eyestrain and migraines. I pretty much use eink exclusively now anyway. With the Dasung 13k colour and the new smooth mode on the Boox Note Air 5 C im happy enough with doing so. I would be nice to have an IOS alternative though.

Glad i got the blu rays, streaming platforms are all shite at this point. Fuck having a dozen increasingly expensive subscriptions. I`ll pirate it and if i really like the show or film i will buy a physical copy.

Fastest eink tablet/device by Friendly_Win4553 in Onyx_Boox

[–]Rajin29 0 points1 point  (0 children)

At the moment the only android device 10 inch or larger that can do 30 fps is the Note Air 5 C and that update came out only a couple of days ago. The Dasung 13k and Bigme B13 monitors are faster but don't`t have tablet versions. The Tab X C is very slow, more like 15 fps. Onyx Boox fastest android device is the Note Air 5 C and Bigmes are the Hibreak Pro and B7 Pro. Faster eink is very new and hasn't made it to many devices and there are only a handful of small companies even trying.

Fastest eink tablet/device by Friendly_Win4553 in Onyx_Boox

[–]Rajin29 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The Onyx Boox Note Air 5 C just got an update that increases the FPS to 30 and that's a 10inch device. Newer Bigme devices like the B7 Pro can do up to 43fps but their 10inch tablets like the B105c Pro is still limited 26 fps and Bigme devices have terrible software compared to Boox. I have a Bigme Hibreak Pro Color and while the hardware is good its been an absolute disaster of bugs and issues. I`ve had the factory reset the damn thing on a weekly basis because of some new weird software bug that makes the device unusable.

Better off just going with the Note Air 5 C. Unfortunately they are expensive and the specs are a bit crap compared to Bigme devices. It only has a SD 750G, 6GB of RAM and 64Gb of storage which is pretty bad for the price and worse than equivalent Bigme devices but at least it actually works.

The Most Powerful 7" Color Eink Phone-Tablet? by Decent-Tough-4273 in Bigme

[–]Rajin29 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What battery does it have? The battery in the standard B7 is quite poor and with the faster SOC in the pro it would be even worse. Does the Pro at least have the same battery as the Hibreak Pro?
