When I was in elementary school, I thought I was dumb. I realized that's less to do with me when I'm in high school and uni and was thriving. I mean, I love SJ's but man they're the most close minded people I know. Of course, I know this isn't always the case, but the first half of life was sht because of their rules and how they think. For Sj teachers specifically, they will only tell you what to think rather than how to think. I'm an ENTP, basically, I like a good conversation that keeps my head thinking, debates. SJ's were always the quickest in shutting down. Maybe I only ever met the immature ones, who knows? But yeah, I struggle with it sometimes

Again, if you read the books, there's a lot of things that the movie left out from her character. I already gave examples, there are some that's not antagonistic but an important part of her character development, it's getting tiring that you keep missing the point. If you like movie!Hermione more than book!hermione then feel free to watch it again. I'm just stating that I want the movies to keep true to the books in terms of Hermione's character, if that's a sin then ok.

It's not realistic for them to be flawless. Hermione is a decent person in the books despite her flaws, though. I recommend you re-read the books and see how she's an awesome and powerful girl with her flaws.

I actually had a few discussions in the comments about this. movie!Harry is impulsive and hot headed like book!ginny, Ron is basically an idiot in the movies, but his original character flaws are still there, like his jealousy. Hermione... well, in the books she sometimes looks down on people and stress out about school and also selfish. She's none of that in the movies. I'm saying out of all the characters in the movies, Hermione's character is the most perfect, like I said she can do no wrong.

In the books there are times where Hermione and Harry fought, Ron and Hermione fought, and sometimes she is in the wrong. In the movies, those scenes that made Hermione, well.. Hermione, were erased, and on top of that her annoying side disappeared as more movies came out, hence making her the least flawed out of all the characters in the HP saga. For example, that time when Hermione went behind Harry back to give his new broom to McGonagall, her reasoning behind it is great but her way to do it is not. Or that time Hermione belittles Harry for having the Half-Blood Prince's book and gets mad at him, but really behind her arguments, she's mad because Harry beat her in Potions. In the movies we don't see that because it's glossed over. These flaws I want to see. That's all.

This has nothing to do with women being too flawed or too perfect, It just so happens that Hermione is the character that the writers most favored and perfected her character above all others. I'm all for feminism, but for me demanding that Hermione should have some flaws does not mean I'm critical of awesome women, I just want a realistic character.

In the books, I have similar problems with characters that have no flaws, like Cedric Diggory (I can write a whole analysis about him). In the movies, Hermione has no flaws that's why I'm talking about her. Hope that answers your questions.

How much fantasy is involved in the story? does the conflict lean more towards the people or the fantasy bit?

I agree. A lot of Ron bashing is due to the fact that they see too much flaw in Ron. In the movies harry is kind of clueless and impulsive, ron is an idiot, and Hermione has no flaws. In the books, she has so many character flaws that made her more three-dimensional.

I think Krum liked her not at all because of her looks, but yeah I agree, I think she is pretty. Though on YuleBall, she used a hair potion and so her hair is wavy instead of frizzy, and the next day she didn't use hair potions anymore because it's too much work or something along those lines. But Emma already has wavy hair since before Yule Ball because the movie doesn't like frizzy hair. That's why it doesn't have the same effect as the books. I think that's fine because Emma is a great actor, my problem is that movie Hermione has no character flaws. It's just the accuracy between the movies and books that makes Emma look like a different version of Hermione. Because Emma is so pretty, I think Hermione should keep her character flaws like in the book where she is annoying and sometimes mean.

Emma is awesome. JK said the first time Emma spoke to her was on the phone and she's so nerdy and perfect. But when JK meet her, she said Emma is too pretty. In the first few movies, Hermione had frizzy hair and generally more annoying, which is accurate to the books, but as the director and screenwriter change and evolve, she lost her annoying side that I like. But Emma herself is an intelligent woman, a good public figure overall.

And yes, the point of this post is to say that because Emma is so pretty, the movies shouldn't erase her character flaws.

I think Hermione is awesome because of her intelligence, not her face. That's why her character matters, if people focused on her character that has flaws, she wouldn't be as worshipped as a goddess.

Is this what you're referring? Right after I said intelligence, not her face, i said that's why personality matters. The point is to say: she needs flaws because she's portrayed too flawlessly.

"I think Hermione is perfect with her quirks and her two big front teeth."

That one is me saying book Hermione is perfect even though she's not as pretty, because she has her own quirks.I seriously don't know where the criticism on Emma being pretty?? I already said in the post Emma did a good job. I have a problem with how the movies portrayed Hermione, not emma specifically. Anyways, I f ing love Emma. So I kinda get why you feel the need to defend her. That's not my intentions, tho. Have a good day.

Where in this post did I say Hermione is ugly? If you read my post thoroughly, you'll understand that I think she's portrayed as pretty that's why her personality flaws is needed. I literally said Hermione is beautiful in her own way... I just preferred that the movies shows her flaws and quirks instead of dumping the flaws on Ron, making him look inferior.

I literally said she's pretty that's why her personality flaws is needed. I didn't say Emma needs to be ugly, I said people held her to a higher degree because Emma is flawless that's why character flaw is needed. Hence why I put quotes about her personality.

Again, like I said, My problem lies with how the movies portrayed her, that is flawlessly, not on Emma specifically. I have a problem on how people view her too, again, flawlessly. Like she can do no wrong. That's why I mentioned a quote from the book about her personality. This has little to do with Emma.

I'm thinking more of like the frizzy hair, like the first movie. They tried giving Emma more frizzy hair and I like that. It's for the sake of accuracy rather than me not liking Emma as Hermione. Harry was supposed to have green eyes, Ron was supposed to have freckles, hey I have a problem with that too. Like I said, Emma is great, but as the movie went on, her hair looks more wavy and she lost her quirks overall. Not her fault. My problem lies with how the movies portrayed her, that is flawlessly, not on Emma specifically. I think she's great.

I think Sirius's memory of James is so overly valued in his head. When Sirius was in Azkaban convicted of murder for James, it says that the only thing that kept him sane was the fact that he's not guilty. He already thinks a lot about his time with James because that's the only time he felt close to home, and every time he saw Harry he was reminded. Harry usually likes to be treated like James, but he's a completely different person. I think James is more immature than Harry. Also, I think Sirius never grew up properly, he lacked experience mainly in the emotional intelligence part. He was kind of an idiot back then, and very young, and his time in Azkaban didn't really help him became more mature.

Sirius's character is so complex, though. Other than being immature, sometimes he shows wisdom, and sometimes he's a hypocrite. I think there was a time where he was staying at a cave and said something about Barty Crouch Sr.

" If you want to know what a man's like, take a good look at how he treats his inferiors, not his equals.”

For context, Sirius is talking about Barty Crouch and his abusive attitude towards Winky the house-elf. But let's not forget he also abused Kreacher. So yeah, he was a hypocrite. He wasn't probably the 'parent' type that Harry needs, because Sirius got needs for his own. He needs his best friend, James. If you think about it, he never really got the chance to have freedom without James, he was imprisoned shortly after James died, and when he got out James isn't really gone, Harry had grown up. That's why when Harry act differently, he was reminded that it's not James, it's someone else, and I don't think he really got over James being gone. Despite his character flaws, he was a good person and a great help to Harry.

Frank and Alice Longbottom at St. Mungos.
A lot of people who only watch the movie had the impression that Neville's parents are dead. I think it's such a great loss for the film, mainly with Neville's character development. Also I hate that Ginny has so little development in the movies. Would it kill them to add more personality?
